  1. from the looks of it, your blowers are way over the rated power output of the compressor. if 3 blowers are on at the same time, the house will not be cool enough. if all 4 are on, its almost impossible to cool. especially the living room.
  2. im unable to take photos for now. my place is basically no entry until the flooring is done. but i spoke to my ID. the secondary floor trap is called ping pong cover or something. talk to the contractors and they should know about it
  3. they just did the living room tiling today. realised that after they did the water levelling throughout the house, the final height of the flooring is at the door level. i can keep the door.
  4. thats the price i was quoted too. no diff. but, the height part is not true. if your ceiling is high, eg, condo or top floor units. you may have to top up to do full height cabinets
  5. Some updates, tiling works in kitchen/bathrooms more or less done, hopefully should be completed by the time i go to inspect later on. Wiring is up 2 days ago, and aircon piping will be installed today. Should be going up to take some photos to post at lunchtime. New purchases this week Astone AP300 Media Centre SMC 16 port gigabit switch TP-Link wireless G router (to replace the dlink dir 655 which i intend to bring over to the new place) All grabbed from PC Show.
  6. i have the same problem with my doors. no idea how the contractors lay the flooring last time. wayy over the HDB limit. and 4' fire rated doors cost a bomb...
  7. inverter? whats the btu of the compressor?
  8. my shower area is actually lower than the rest of the bathroom. but still managed to get a floor trap. today they were doing tiling, unable to take pics.. will go up and take tomorrow
  9. this i'm not too sure. maybe they only use 1/2" for the incoming pipe and 3/8 for the return pipe? (since the return gas isn't as cold) if the blower isn't installed yet, its normal to have some exposed pipe for them to play around with when installing the blower. if the blower already installed. then exposed piping isn't normal. my aircon piping installation is on friday. will see how mine is done and update
  10. my common bath also have this problem. but the tiler actually installed another floor trap in the shower area to drain water away.. will take pics tml or friday after the tiling is done. now is all cement screed so cannot take photos.
  11. the dogs are a problem. if the tenants refuse to move, you can actually get an order to break and enter. but because of the dogs in the house, you cannot lock them out. (cannot lock up the flat if there are living things inside.)
  12. i believe the normal thickness of insulation is 3/8" think. from the looks of it, 5/8" is already thicker than 1/2". where does the 1/4" comes in anyway? for the pvc water pipes?
  13. mine are 27 each. mine is those type with a tilting base to facilitate removal of the bulbs. supposedly more expensive.. then maybe i got conned.
  14. haven bought it yet.. but most probably astone will go shopping for it at the next pc show
  15. the sellers should already have gotten their in principle approval prior to signing the OTP. if they did not, and now they are going to get fined by the bank for cancelling the loan. its their own fault. but don't worry. i'm sure u will soon find another buyer.
  16. i got my starmex inverter 28000 btu system 3 x 9000btu at 2930 with install. top up 120 for 1/2" insulation and a single split 24000btu mitsubishi non inverter at 1550
  17. imo, its about the same. you set temp lower, the ratio of hot vs cold is higher. thus hot water use up faster, the heater will keep trying to heat the water. at a higher temp setting, it may take longer to heat the water. but because the water lasts longer in the tank. the heater doesnt have to turn on so frequently. If its me, i would go for 70deg, let the water heat to 70, turn off the power. and shower. in this case, the heater will only be on for about 10-15 mins as the water in the tank should be more than sufficient for 2-3 persons. on the other hand, a heater set at 55deg will have to be kept on thruout the shower period of the 2-3 person. drawing more electricity in the long run.
  18. hi vicenzo, you seem very experienced in this area. hope you can give me some advice. I'm looking for an entry level 5.1 system to install in my living hall. main purpose is to give me better than "tv speaker" sound when im watching movies on my media centre (most of the time). rarely do i watch dvds and BR discs. hope you can give me some suggestions. Thanks
  19. I have a feeling the property market will become saturated soon due to overbuilding. with the projects that are pumped out in 2007 TOPing this year, there will be a sudden increase in available property. and with the new land releases and sudden surge of BTOs from HDB. most prob the supply will exceed demand. And i read somewhere that singapore will be closing the gates to foreigners once population hits 6 million. which is quite soon. To TS. I paid 39k COV for a top floor corner 5rm unit near boon lay MRT and now is doing a full overhaul coz the 10 year old flat condition also quite lok kok. maybe that will make u feel better.
  20. i've seen alot of corridor units using the top and bottom window panels. quite useful imo, top part can keep open to ventilate. bottom part keep closed to keep eyes out.
