  1. i used master long tian xiang. he provided date selection with some simple analysis of me and wife's 8 characters and also any upcoming "tao hua" in our lives and how to avoid it. he provided us with a booklet of 3 years of dates which can be used for all occasions including ROM/guo da li/actual day/moving house/renovation etc.
  2. i have a friend who did that. DIYed his whole renovation. but he doesn't work. so he can fork out the time to coordinate and supervise.
  3. tiles take quite a while. so while the tilers are doing up the kitchen wall, the aircon guys came to do up the pipings. thats what happened for mine
  4. actually, for my place, the aircon trunkings and floorings are done up simultaneously. the tiler will then cut holes to accomodate the air con pipes
  5. usually, lights, sanitary stuff (heater/sinks/taps/toilet bowls) and hood and hob are not included in the quotation.
  6. they usually have a standard height for full height wardrobes. if your house has a higher ceiling (top floor units or condominiums) there may be a fee to top up for the extra height. also, take note of the price of the tiles that u are allowed to select. if u select tiles that cost more than they give u. they will ask u to top up also. and also the price of laminate they allow u to choose for ur cabinets. for plumbing, things to take note are - copper/stainless steel pipes - does the price include hot water piping (if needed) for my ID, she made known all the prices right from the beginning. so i know that i know which laminates i choose needed topping up, and which tiles i choose needed topping up. but for the price range for living rm floor tiles i was given (2.90) not many choices available. so i ended up topping up for living room floor tiles.
  7. means stuff that are not included in the quotation. for example. some company quote u ridiculously low price for full height wardrobe. then during measurement. tells u all drawers/shelves/hanging rods need to pay extra. or, whole house piping included in package. but after measurement, say only free up to certain ft. after that need to charge extra. of course, if these are all communicated to u in the beginning. then personally i wun call them hidden costs.
  8. look out for WMF sales. they sometimes have it at tangs/taka/metro. i got my 6 piece utensil set at 150. and a wok at 150.
  9. u can just start by walking into those contractor/designer offices with your floorplan and ask for a quote.
  10. most prob they will have to fix a new trunking to run the cable. 1 point is enough for your house since according to opennet, the device provided by the ISPs should have 4 output ports. thus there is no need for you to have more than 1 point
  11. u can stay at the place up to 9th aug. u will handover the keys on 10th aug at HDB and from then on the house belongs to the buyer. actually, u can move out on the morning of 10th aug just before the appt. regarding the inspection, its best to do it the day before the appt, can fix the date thru the agents.
  12. i saw some at self-fix. cost about 30 odd dollars
  13. its probably caused by the air pressure that is generated within the room when the main door opens. try opening the door SLOWLY and see if it happens. if its the pressure. i doubt theres anything u can do about it. it doesnt happen when aircon not on is it because without aircon on, the windows are open?
  14. my unit also came with rockstone. paid 1850 to plaster whole house including ceiling (5rm) Before and after of plastering
  15. Huge Aircon Compressor Single Split 24k BTU non-inverter System 3 28k BTU Inverter MBR Bedhead wall and light cove
  16. Gas Piping Light Cove & Tv Wall Painted Door Frame
  17. izit? anyway. i whacked my ID about why u were quoted so high.
  18. 1 solution i came up with for my current study table at parent's room to hide all the wires and powerpoint is to have a groove at the rear part of the surface with a cover. and locate all the powerpoints in it. so the cables will be run into the groove and can be concealed inside. the contractor din do a very good job. but i feel its possible to make it better
  19. u intend to sand it and dun varnish? then it will be totally not protected from any form of moisture. might turn mouldy leh
  20. can bargain a little. i managed to get my tv price from 1299 to 1399 with extended warranty. (originally extended warranty cost 151) and yes its 42" full HD
  21. i got the philips 7409 at 1399 with extended warranty. felt it was quite a good deal at that time. but only managed to squeeze out that deal coz i got oven/washer/fridge and tv all at the same place.
  22. thats what i did. asked my electrician to do it for me. 2 points in each room. all terminating in a cabinet next to the tv console. going to install my switch/router/modem/NAS all there.
