if u want to hide the cables in the cornices.. then i guess have to redo the cornices. or u can just run the cables in trunkings.

i believe those pipes are original from hdb for the location of the sink. my place used to have it when it was first renovated 20 years ago. then we redid the house 4 years back. those pipes are now covered below the floor tiles.. so i guess it can be removed...

Overlay Wall & Floor Tiles. Is It A Good Idea?
wolflet replied to ericmar's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
if your ID has those packages for resale units.. the price may not differ that much -
im no ID. and from what i heard from IDs... the minimum thickness for ceilings with cove light/down light is 6". so im assuming the same applies to walls?
-
from what i know. non powder coated windows are those that u see original from HDB available only in silver and bronze colour. powder coated windows, they powder coat the aluminium with some colour coating to give more colour options. usually those houses with white windows are powder coated. they cost more. but the powder coat tends to chip if you knock it hard enough.

Overlay Wall & Floor Tiles. Is It A Good Idea?
wolflet replied to ericmar's topic in RENOVATION WORKS
it depends on the workmanship for the current tiles. if its done well. then overlaying won't be a problem. if its shoddily done, and the tiles actually "pop" after overlaying, the new tiles will also be affected and u have to spend more to rectify. -
if ur staying in condo. then no prob for concealed wiring. but it cost alot more as alot of hacking is involved. If its hdb. then concealed wiring is not allowed

if diff pple give diff opinions. call the hotline multiple times and ask the same question. until somebody tells u YES. u get the person's name as reference. but from my knowledge. registered as indian means its sold as indian owner. thus malay cannot buy if malay quota filled -
i was an electrical technician in the navy during my regular days. to my experience, wires usually won't give you problem even after 20 years if you do not touch them. but if during your renovation, it involves movement or alteration of the electrical system, then 17 years old wires might break. of course, it still boils down to your budget.

wolflet replied to doremon2009's topic in Plumbing & Electrical Works
is it possible to maybe hide the heater in a cabinet? or does it have to be installed in the open? -

u can consider trying my ID. give her a chance to give u a quote. most impt thing about ID is not just the price. its also how u feel with that person. if u cannot click with the ID, lower price also not worth it. since it will be harder to communicate. i took so long coz i dun feel good with most of the IDs i spoke too. and those that i feel good about. wife may not like them also. then u have to visit their showflats to see the customers relationship with them after the reno and also the workmanship
-
initially very tiring. after a while, got into the groove and manage to shop IDs very quickly. even came up with a system of telling them what i want. with that. become very fast. and its quite interesting coz all ids give different ideas

meaning. when selling u their service. say until got dragon got tiger. after signing the contract. cannot deliver what they promise. I try to get the ID to arrange viewing of showflats to at least get a feel of owner/id relationship and also their workmanship and quality on the ground. of course, try to get feedback about that particular ID rather than just the company. Company is mainly just for quality and workmanship since they use the same group of contractors. But service wise, it boils down the the ID individually. -

its durable. but if u intend to build your house to match a certain theme. the design of granite might not be able to match. -

towards year end and before CNY is usually a peak period for renovation works. thus the quality and speed of work will definitely be affected. for those who are not superstitious, can consider renovation during the hungry ghost mth as its the most lull period. otherwise, middle of the year is definitely less busy as compared to the end of the year -
