actually, with the amount of our hard earned money put into reno works, we definitely have the right to be fussy...of coz not to the extent where one become unreasonable and intolerable in their demands... other ppl also have to earn a living so its all abt achieving a fine line to suit all parties... tough...but clicking with an ID/contractor would be the way to go if monetary wise, we are at a dead end... YNWA, El Nino -
haha...u can do that?? or am i dealing with the wrong sales guy? oh...then lidat must go check one round with the contractor/ID i appoint, when i get the keys...didnt know u can screed over the tiles... anyway, many TIA ossify! YNWA, El Nino

hi ossify, replying here instead of dugong's blog the laminates looked good man! skirting all up and proper.. anyway, i had enquired via Robina's web, this Kenneth guy replied me. at first he quoted me 488sqft at $4.50psf for 3 bedrooms...then after a few emails he quoted me 482sqft at $4.30psf...is it considered expensive? lucky i asked here... i didnt ask for any Pergo...specifically asked for Robina's Natural Bamboo, Platinum Teak and Euroline...although he did say final quote is based on site measurement btw, worth to hack and then cement screed or just overlay the laminates? Elo KM, u share my thots on having glass panel below the upper cabinet! haha actually i've mentioned somewhere that im thinking of doing glass on one wall and ss on the other... glass as backing for sink and food prep area...ss for hob and hood area, beside built in oven... reason being, worried glass may crack over time from heat if near cooking zone... glass near sink area can just wipe down, no water marks...ss if near sink area concern with water marks.. oh yah...how do you forsee scratches if its on a wall? should hardly have contact with sharp utensils right? and if i may share here since i mentioned the above...what are your thots on having granite top at cooking area and Corian/LG solid top on sink area...? and i think you'd have guess by now that i intend to do a galley kitchen yah...would a walkway of 5ft between the 2 sides be sufficient? Many many thanks! YNWA, El Nino -

all the missing stuff has now been quoted...and its still cheaper than my cheapest quote by 5k! and with all supposed materials that i want! its human nature isnt it...? expensive, we complain want to chop ppl's money... cheap also we complain and skeptical, why ah? why ah?...Lol undecided still.... guys, what abt this...seller wanted 1 month extension from us coz they doing contra and needed extra month to finalise the flat they buying. so, my 2nd appt is next week, i get the keys but they still stay there a month longer. does this count as illegal? there was some agreement i signed to acknowledge that we allowed them an extension... but so far since october their f*****d up agents still havent pass me my copy. now im concerned if they take their time in moving out after extension is up, i go police to 'remove' them from the house, their agent come and furnish the agreement... what'll happen next? Elo Dugong, Cant help noticing from ur siggy that ur reno started before u went for 1st appt much less 2nd appt??? Found a unit with very accomodating sellers did you? Impress..impress.. i cant convince sellers to let my reno works start before 2nd appt...they doing contra.. YNWA, El Nino -
thanks ernie for sharing ur experiences.. so to summarise, pddoor would be useful in space starved toilets but still redundant if toilet too small? haha...from what i gather, to use pddoor, one should have enuff space to utilise its 180 deg opening... aesthetic wise hardly looks like much of a diff...so i think i cant go wrong with either normal or top hung bi-fold doors then... hi, filter wise either or then...so just aim for hood with better extraction capability within one's budget i guess.. i think the venturing smell is inevitable, unless we go thru the trouble to segregate kitchen from rest of the house..i.e kitchen entrance door? although im not really bothered by lingering smell of belachans, rendangs, roast chicken etc...yum yum, thats just a reminder that meal time is next! hehe i had concerns too on having top cabinets above the hob and beside the hood...just like what u highlighted rgdg moisture etc..its inevitable over the long run cabinets above could get affected...maybe i do without it or build one thats half height than normal...glass panels are an option but costly...hmmm... Any Good Bosch Model For Washers
El Nino_Al Nito replied to leafania's topic in Electronics & Electricals
oh no... that minus one ability of the front loaders then? quite redundant to have a washer that cant do all laundry types..or am i expecting too much? haha no so keen on top loader coz of aesthetic wise in modern kitchens nowadays...but top loaders are jack of all trades in terms of functions? read up pros and cons of either but still undecided... YNWA, El Nino -
hah...my head chef had the gaggenau oven in his home kitchen...swore by it all the time by the way...all oven programmed to do multi tasking i.e grilling, baking, defrosting etc what are the chances that the previous dish aroma/smell still lingers in the oven when u next do up another dish? is this where the self cleaning functions came in? YNWA, El Nino
-
yup..yup..already looking forward to the upcoming IT show.c on ur recommendation for choosing ovens with ventilation (tangential, i think), how does it work actually? the blowing out of hot air once a certain temp is hit... oven will still be in-built within the cabinets...so means i gotta have some gaps at the back of the cabinet where the oven is? or should i just put an aircon in the kitchen? -> wife's been bugging me for this...Lol YNWA, El Nino

would top hung be better than normal bifold door with bottom tracks? in terms of durability and keeping out water from seeping out at the door base...? one contractor quote me top hung and normal bifold as same price, another said top hung more ex...whilst another advise not to get pddoor coz more ex and spare parts hard to find when spoil... YNWA, El Nino

elo kitchen matters, no, have not gotten any yet...still deciding and confused as ever...Lol undecided on oven, hood and washer..... hope to take advantage of the CNY promo period to buy but reno will start late March, so dunno if now too early or not... YNWA, El Nino

hi, so there are 3 types of filter eh? charcoal, those metal grille type and small container type? not sure the terms for the last two... grille means u gotta clean by soaking and rinsing in water... container just remove the collected oil...charcoal replace the pieces like once a year...? does make charcoal filters less of a chore...but end up with this filters, as what graceakaclouds mentioned, power of extraction is still critical so worth it to pay for the highest extraction capability? YNWA, El Nino -
thanks...you laid a few good points there... so instead of getting the in-between catalytic, go for a pyrolytic one instead? think catalytic shd suffice right since they serve the same cleaning purpose... think i'll drop by Teka at UE...check out their combo ovens... got a feeling they are wallet bursters tho...
