  1. yeah kinda..sony tend to be more ex. mega discount retailed at 2.1k then 'offer price' at 1.8k..then i go courts woodlands this bro offered me $1399 for the WE5.. almost bought on the spot but told myself to tahan abit more..haha
  2. oh, went to the shop twice, once on each end of balestier..haha kiasu anot me? very likely will buy from there once i finalise my lighting points with Mr Yeak. im not sure how to describe but i wanna get those downlight that cast this type of light as seen on Mickey's blog...or is it because of the distance from the wall? no leh, me also havent choose laminates...its only for 2 bedrooms though..Mr Yeak said towards the end then will do laminate flooring bah..didnt quite like the choices Mr Yeak gave me, Classen, a german product...too limited. am thinking of getting Robina. Hopefully Ossify's contact still got offer good price this month. Haha. Might consider kronotex but need to read up on the brand first. haha...i myself also cannot wait for the transformation man..
  3. hehe...yah man. although i feel for the current yamaha soundbar prices, you are better off topping abit more and get entry level 5.1 surround sound. from the experts views i gathered, soundbars are best left in smaller spaces i.e bedrooms. but den diff ppl got diff audio preferance mah so to each his own yah. Ang, im not using the 7 series philips. currently using an old fashioned samsung CRT in my rented MBR. its up to one's budget lor...dun burst anything more than u can afford yah. although im considering the philips 7 series against Sony WE5 and LG 42LH50YD for my entertainment room
  4. hi danny, dropped by ur blog again to look at ur lighting plan. safe to say, i love ur kronotex laminates man! does give u the modern feel without being entirely woody warm. might have missed out earlier posts, but what type of downlights u use? those with squarish or round covers? how many watts is it? i dun quite like those that shine ring of lights onto the wall leh...
  5. Common Toilet Tiles Visualisation Some 3D graphics to help us visualise the outcome, courtesy of Google Sketch.. Bright & Cheerful Croc - With strips of orangy mosaic across Feminine Diva Croc - With strips of sparkling pinkish mosaic across So, what do you all think?
  6. Common Toilet Tiles Basically going for a black white or grey white colour tone. Since the common toilet was narrow, its ideal we chose a brighter colour to enlarge the look. But i dun quite like an all white or too bright of a colour hence added in some black or grey to the look. During the selection, felt that the blacks looked nicer than the greys. So decided on those. Next was the texture or pattern on the tiles. All along had liked the golf balls or manhattan squares type of patterns but after viewing the house Mr Yeak currently doing, we decided on croc tiles. Yeah baby! Im gonna become Crocodile Dundee when i get in that toilet.. However, we didnt quite like the overly masculine look in the common toilet that Mr Yeak did. Hence to tone it down, Joey recommended some mosaic after i proposed it to her. Couldnt quite decide which one to get but agree with Joey and my wife that these two mosaics we shorlisted would go well with the black and white. Oh, the floor will be matt textured black too. Choice A - With bright orangy toned mosaic Choice B - With shimmering and sparkling pink toned mosaic Choice of Mosaic - Voting lines are open folks! Pinkish or Orangy? *Think the texture on the tiles cant be clearly seen in the pics unless u scrutinise deep deep. Haha
  7. Tile Selection Went to hafary last weekend to view and shortlist tiles with Mr Yeak. Was served by Joey. Spent about one and a half hours there and we more or less have decided what we wanted. Only decided to change the MBR toilet tile on last Tuesday after realising it lacks cosiness that we intended for. After another 15mins, made up our minds. Hope our selection wont be low on stocks otherwise have to make a trip down again. So...1hr 45mins for tile selection. Fast anot ah? Lol..think its because we have decided on the colours and theme for each room since October. So our tile selection trip was only to find tiles with best matched textures / patterns. Will post the tiles for each room as we go along...
  8. i agree to this. solid top is advisable to get lighter shade to minimise eye sore on the scratches. they are not as heat resistant and scratch resistant but more water resistant than granite. darker shade maybe u go for granite top. pfr is about $120 yah. granite more heat resistant but since they are natural stone, granite are porous and are not as stain resistant. so many choices and pros and cons as long as u r happy and not bothered, go for ur wants and needs!
  9. hi, that makes three of us who are fans of the philips ambilight tv! 7 series up is worth getting for philips in terms of functions but u gotta know ur needs and wants yah. wah, danny u got the soundbar for $249??? good price leh...but to wait till aug or sept ah..hmm.. im thinking of getting one for my gaming room. either that or a yamaha. hope can find one less than $300 like urs also sia..haha.
  10. muahahaha...then if i upz the sub maybe shd consider soundproofing the living room...wonder will all the bollywood dances, hollywood gunfires and explosions and the crowd chanting YNWA and cheering on Torres at anfield during the weekends create termors and unbearable living to my neighbours? i do like the fact that CHT8Q is able to auto adjust itself to the programme its playing..as mentioned by dennis. whats the additional cost for your spl-800i? think i wanna consider a soundbar for my study / gaming room..hopefully can find one less than $300 next week or in June..
  11. Thanks for the tip off. But 52 inch TV kinda huge for my viewing distance of ard 3.5m... the 42pfl8404H at $1799 (courts) is already better priced compared to the 42pfl9664. the sales person questioned and showed me whether if there really is a need for one to have anything above 100Hz display. yeah, hopefully i'd get lucky and grab one 42pfl9664 next week!
  12. Hah! Just what i needed. Thanks for your feedbacks danny. See my comments in blue. Think i read your blog before but kinda forgotten. Too many ard here see. Hee.
  13. hehe...nowadays, i go home 7.30pm its robert on Ch69 instead of my usual Ch23. hmm...quite the contrary i think, with a turnspit u wun really need convectional ovens actually. since the thing is already rotating, top and bottom element shd suffice. of course with convection its better which cause heat to circulate and with the rotating turnspit, this ensures all areas of the meat is well cooked. doubt those grill pits that robert uses have fans inside right? some more those only have bottom direct heat...and the end product still have crackling roast textures to the meat leh...
  14. hey thanks phantom. anyways, i committed to a purchase of the procinema 600 with 1000 center using Denon AVR-1910. have not decided whether to use default sub or upgrade to the velo CHT8Q. cost me 2.1k and if up to velo sub an extra $500. value for money? was served by dennis last weekend.
  15. Lighting Points Layout This is one area i had scrutinised and thought over and finally came up with this. Im not sure if this lighting plan is excessive or otherwise, hence hope i can get feedbacks on this. As per the floorplan layout: Living / Dining Area - The yellow rectangular lines are the cove lights in warm yellow. - The blue rectangular lines are the cove lights in blue (or maybe black light ala CSI style, Lol) - The red cross thingy between the blue cove will be my ang ang ceiling fan - The small circles along the walls throughout will be my downlights (13w each is enough right?) - The grey rectangle near the wall will by my single split aircon Kitchen - 2 ceiling lights, one near entrance/fridge and another near sink/washer - 1 small circular light near laundry area - Cove lights under top kitchen cabinets along both side of walls Bedrooms - The greyish circles in the rooms are my ceiling fans - 3 downlights each on L-shaped L-Box in the 2 bedrooms (probably using 13w warm yellow) - 2 downlights along one wall for the room intended to be my study cum gaming area (18w daylight for this) - Cove lights under the top wall hung cabinet in the study - Cove lights along the L-box in the study The rest (toilets / store room) are self explanatory and using normal ceiling lights. Any advises much appreciated! Too much cove lights? (I know some will ask if necessary, but me and wife like cosy ambience). Downlights too little? Whats the ideal wattage for a room? I think 35w in total is enough.
  16. hoho...u gna do roasting and stuff?? me too! very inspired by chef robert rainford. check out the Asian Food Channel website...alot of recipes man. so does the EOC67000X have a rotiserrie and/or turnspit? that'll make ur roasts even better. u mean the EOC67000X have more functions than the FP867? think will need to dig out my electrolux brochure when i get home later.
  17. hi danny, thanks for the welcome! im still deliberating on the philips 42pfl9664 LCD.. courts and HN said its a discont set and promoted to me the 42pfl8404H.. but i like the sleekness of the 9664...only found out that best denki at IMM still selling but at $2499...the sales guy said im better off getting LED at that price which i still have not quite fancied though... hope the IT show will have this model...Grrrrr...
  18. tell me about it...he brought me to the unit i mentioned before in blk 208 after i insist he go with me. the tiling is like minimal grout lines sia...i like! other than that, i appreciate his advises here and there considering this is my first reno and im taking the plunge to use a contractor after plenty of info and learning experiences here in RT.
  19. Congrats on your oven purchase! german oven couldnt go wrong eh plus with quite a drastic price discount...i think its probably due to the original price of almost 4k, most oven enthusiast will probably pay abit more and get a miele or die dietrich hence may not have sold much back then...but with this price bait, why wouldnt one get it right? Have fun with your new 'toy' in a few months! hehe... did u see any bosch ovens with 50% price cut also at HN yesterday? hahaha oh, in an ideal world where budget is no issue, the gaggenau BX280 will be sitting proudly in my kitchen too!
  20. wahhh!! when u asked everjoint? i asked last friday they quoted me $1625.. mega discount quote me $1650... which salesperson u ask from? will they go below 1.5k if we get a group buy? Lol... seems like when i ask ard they advise me to avoid ariston...said made in thailand and china..no longer in italy...brandt still french product...ariston monopolised laa etc etc i take it with a pinch of salt though since i consider them bashing a rivals product... still like the look and functionality of ariston's openspace tho now more inclined towards brandt FP867...
  21. curious liao then dun wait ler...contact him and get a quote! hehe... best is if you have your specifications / requirements ready...get more than three quotes... five is abt enough coz more or less u will notice the quotes even out and differ by minimal... i.e. some cheaper here more ex there and vice versa... yup, rapport is good to have if u want peace of mind..knowing if anything does go wrong, u can count on that fella to fix it..of course not until a demanding or unreasonable extent la...haha lots of give and take i guess...
  22. its a rented mbr in woodlands actually. this gonna be my first flat man. had been moving ard rent here and there since i got married in 2007...shagged arh... really hope me and wife get rewarded for our patience with an excellent and gorgeous matrimonial home... C'mon Yeak! *will this be too much pressure for Yeak?* haha...
  23. no need buy threadmill, no need go gym or running track. can run and run and run in the house.. Lol looks good yah...
  24. yah lor...one of the reasons i chose him over impress21 also. abt 12mins walk to his yeak's shop. this will be easier if need rectification later coz now stay closer to yeak's own house... later handover will be closer to his shop. Lol
  25. i had sourced for this type of layout until sian during my search back then.. u are real lucky to close with zero cash. congrats and good luck with your reno! so many hackable walls...*envy*
