Anyone Went To Mayer Warehouse Sales?
pantieileen replied to lemontee's topic in Electronics & Electricals
Don't bother going down anymore. Samsung fridges all sold except one small 2door unit. most sold units i saw had scratches and dents here and there but at $699 i guess why not? The washing machines and dryers got Ariston, Indesit and Candy but mostly of them also sold. Was looking for a 8kg but all sold. Didn't check on the others though. -
So part magic did happen since 27August 1) Parquet done 2) Marble done 3) Letterbox built 4) Front boundary walls built Next week installing 5) toilet bowls 6) shower screens 7) sinks (provided i buy them this weekend) 8) lights only missing gate, carporch tiles (no stock), doors and it's only 18August today. Heng i didn't bet a chilli crab with them.

aiya if u are just building a maid's room and nothing else and u got plenty of space just go get basic contractor to do can already. When i look down from my bedroom i can see so many of my neighbors violating the law just build a maid room and erect a window above the boundary wall. I never understood why people ask for price of building xxx and yyy on the forum. How they expect forumers to quote? Are you looking for contractors or ID people who lark around the forum and pretend to be fellow forumer and tell u go look for my contractor AA o BB? All houses are different, the land you are sitting on also can be different. If a forumer who stay in Changi (cliff area hence solid ground) tell u don't need piling then ur house is on the beach (soft sand) then hence Changi will be cheaper to reno then how will u go scream at the contractor? Unless u post your location then don't ask people about procedure and prices. My point is, contractors can do wonders and magic if u know what u want and u know your budget. Very difficult to pick up a call and meet contractors meh? So get up your chair, make an appointment on weekends and that'll solve your problems. In fact if i were u,i'll make 4appointments so i got 4quotations to choose from.

actually index is almost the same as ikea. The only difference is that they are made in thailand and not china (ikea). The MBK Index is a very small store only. Design wise actually almost the same as ikea. Personally i didn't find there furniture that cheap but design wise they are modern coz that's where i go to furnish my bkk apt. when i compare apple to apple, like ikea chest of drawers to Index, same same price lah, the board also chipwood. If i were u, i'll only buy soft furnishing from there, get them to pack into 4big cartons since i can carry 6luggages each time on Thai, 2 pax. Things i ever carried back include, 2seater sofa, wine cooler, ottoman stool. Talking about soft furnishings, i think BKK is not the cheapest in terms of fabric and designs. Bed Bath and Beyond have better quality ones from USA. Normally i buy my bedsheets from there but if i want thai silk cushion covers then i'll get from BKK.

Floors appeared today on the 3rd floor! Made me so kan cheong, i rushed to buy lights and looks like it's quite possible for them to finish until i receive a letter from PUB, apparently they haven't lay the electricity and water connections...erm...so i start to wonder if stat boards will work so fast like complete everything in 1 week ? (i very kind, i give PUB 1 week to perform magic!) It was raining today but they were quite smart to create a tent, working to on carporch! So 3weeks to go...do i have to be in town for BCA or URA or whatever stat board to do TOP?

Refinancing
pantieileen replied to pantieileen's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion
ok so it's probably time to start asking dbs. Coz i'll need to fedex the documents back and forth -
This is the first time i'll need to do refinancing for my mortage loan. Currently on DBS 2yr fixed rate signed in Nov 2009 so it's going to expire in Nov 2011. Normally how long prior to expiry do we need to shop for refinancing packages? Coz i asked my parents they say they forget, never take mortage loan for so long. I called Citi but they said they don't do home or car refinancing loan, which is strange.

Sometimes i think security systems are good for checking on maids...imagine Letitia bringing her banagala bf back home or that Letitia climb out of the window and over the fence to go geylang freelance coz that's what happened to us until Mata sent Letitia back home and boy she looks totally different from the Letitia in the day. Best of all, Ah Ma's still in her dreamland totally not knowing what happened until next morning "Why Letitia not in huh?"

I like these few coz of the following reasons but all still quite ex. Coz at night can just walk to the nearby Silom massage, street food, buy pirated dvd etc http://www.met-bangkok.com/ infinity swimming pool on the 9th floor, maciam like MBS heehee, 2gyms on level 9 and i think level 23 (forgot exact floor) Right behind Singapore embassy so i think anything just run there should be safe? Most residents are expats coz i talked to a few of them, maciam they got their own little community Near to hospitals so if i grow old i need healthcare can easily hire some thai maid and a chauffer and drive me to hospital nearby or even roll me across the road to hospital. It's abit like Icon at tanjong pagar but then abit far from chon nong si bts (must walk abit and climb the sickening bridge) http://www.rcr-bangkok.com/ Also around the same area but i think more ex. Haven't make appt to look at the showroom in singapore yet. I think this one walking distance to bts Sky Villas @ Ascott Right above Ascott Bangkok, so actually there's like a 24/7 concierge for lazy people like me. Almost everything in the apartment (massage, facial, gym with yoga and pilates classes, hair salon, restaurants). The swimming pool is abit orbid compared to all these infinity pools The Infinity Opposite Chong non si bts, actually the above 4 all in the same area lah coz got easy banking at my fingertips (except Citibank which moved..haiz) It's actually right opposite bts but i don't remember i can hear the train "cong cong cong" sound. Maybe their train frequencies not very high. The swimming pool also "infinity" style. but ok i cannot swim but then look chio i lie by the chair also shiok, ok maybe i'm a sucker for infinity pools

Aiya any crash will only benefits the ah nehs and ah tiongs who will happily come and buy our resale flats and condos. Even if our economy tanks, our property will stay sky high thanks to them. Everyday i receive flyers "chinese pr, indo chinese pr, hk pr, indian pr sincerely looking for house, condo, hdb flat in our area...." Just look at bangkok, people are waiting for the kxxx to mati then whoop in and sweep up cheap condos with infinity swimming pools for vacation homes or retirement homes. Only those real young true blooded Singaporeans will suffer if they lose their jobs and have to pay for their 1.xx million cubicles in the sky. But will our govt care? no loh wait long long

no lah, reconstruction also can do piling. My neighbor did piling, tore down the entire house left 2 pillars at the side standing, pile and from 2storey become 3.5 storey, siam the bomb shelter, also consider reconstruction. Very clever, contractor bought for 1.2-1.4M now want to sell 3.80-4.08M. If you are free u can drive down and take a look, their recent completed project is right opposite (big grey semi D beside Grand Hotel) http://www.propertyguru.com.sg/listing/5126112/for-sale-karikal-lane end of the day, depends on how smart your architect is when he prepare the proposals. Got money of coz can pile, no money then do footing loh. When i did my house under reconstruction, i was also given the option to pile but i'm poor

pantieileen replied to with_an_ang3l's topic in Landed & Condo Private Properties Renovation Discussion

i got a quotation from this security company to install security system cost about 4k. Is this consider expensive? Then the guy said if no security system, insurance will quote me more expensive? True ah? i mean i've been staying in landed all my life, never encountered break in before, choy choy choy touch wood, but maybe my houses are all very old and very super lok? The only reason why i'm thinking of installing security system is becoz i overhaul the entire place so it now looks 10x better than the row of old neighbors and becoz still under renovation, i can easily conceal the wires instead of having them exposed? QUestion : Is it worth to do security? Would dogs (sheepdogs) suffice?

Went down to the showroom at Enterprise One, served by aunty Irene Tan. It was already 5.45pm when we entered the showroom and we were just walking in to take a look before i decide on Serta vs Sealy vs SimmonsThink she was bull****ting me when she said "you must buy today, the promotion for the following (see below) is only valid for today. You come next week no more offer or promotion." The entire building looked so dead empty, she think i stupid, who on earth will come here and buy mattress and the offer isn't really cheap. Must be almost 6pm but no sales today Simmons Beauty Rest (BR) Platinum King size $3099 + 200 (bedframe comes in black/brown/cream) Simmons Englander Horizon Queen $1199 (free bedframe black/brown/cream) Simmons Englander Loft $999 (free bedframe black/brown/cream) I said, your bedframe not nice i want to use my bedframe then she said "if you use other bedframe, we don't warranty 10yr warranty coz other brands of bedframe not as good as ours" i think she's bull****ting me again, then companies who sell bedframes all will close shop lah?
