  1. Electrician with better skill normally cut the trunking with good fit and will not require silicon glue.
  2. Golden rolex, shiny polish shoes.... high gloss tiles. I think its just me, whenever I see them I imagine that the user are tiong-kok towkay.
  3. The wiring system, ring circuit or parallel circuit. Nowadays new hdb flat use ring circuit, but older flat may still have parallel circuit. While both works the same in operation, ring circuit allow you to have spruce(not sure if I spell this right) meaning you may tap another lighting point or power point more easily. Then due to that ring circuit will cost more cable to be used, price may be higher. The size of cable used 1.5mm for lighting, 2.5mm for power, 4mm for water heater.... these are standard cable size used, if not PUB will not approve it. Cable insulation... this is standard as well, as the PUB tester will come with his "mega tester" to check insulation. Cheap non BS standard with thin insulation may cause the insulation to melt when heavy load is used, and may cause fire.
  4. I thought I'm the only one who thought so.... my wifely like it, but it looks so tiong-kok to me
  5. Do post a picture what kind of window it is?
  6. Its just the same as you go to hawker and ask for less rice with no discount, but if you want more then have to top up
  7. Any ideal what's the price difference? My contractor quote me everything lump sum so I've no ideal at all how much psf. My plan is to reno my flat once in a lifetime, so I'm throwing every in. At the end of the job, I'll probably post here asking where to buy the cheapest rice
  8. I've seen the "parquet like" tile at LSH, they look rather artificial to me., but at the end of the day, different people different taste. Yeah I'll stay away from laminate for sure.
  9. Solid top have heat issue but they can be polish. The beauty of solid top is that there will be no visible joint. Granite have stain issue, as granite by nature absorb liquid, that's why most id will recommend dark colored ones. I was comparing this two type of top for rather a while, and finally end up with quartz, which have $$$ issue
  10. If you are not into custom made, why not buy an ordinary solid wood table and saw away the leg.
  11. My main con recommend me the same when I ask for oak wood flooring then change to parquet. I rejected his recommendation as I feel that wood should be wood and tiles should e tiles... what's the point of having "fake" wood just for the sake of it. $0.02 BTW, this thread is started my my wife, and hopefully she have finally decided her choice of tiles for our living *cough cough*
  12. Solid wood, while stronger are subjected to shrinking issue if the timber are not well dry before making the door. They are more expensive and in case if its dented, it can be sand and re-varnish. All the pro of the solid door are cons of veneer, vice versa.
  13. If you specify Australia copper pipe, which is thicker and will cost more. Copper don't rust, but will oxidise.
  14. Why not try drill a 1" hole in the cornice, then use the fiberglass leader to guide the cable from one end to the other, the patch the hole with plaster.
  15. Thanks for the ads, there's no way you can compare real wood flooring to laminate lol
  16. Thanks for the advise, so all those push open drawer will have gap to invite dust
  17. There are two flush bolt(top and bottom) on the standard HDB gate. I don't see the issue if you still have one working.
  18. wa lau... another new terms *faint*... bro, any picture of the CFL?
  19. Thanks for the advice mate, I've a chat with my contractor, and cooking out an evil plan to do some sort of box to conceal the elbow. If not, the mixture will be popping out quite very much.
  20. Agreed After weeks of checking around I've learn the lesson that HDB renovation standard can never be as good as landed property. My dad is a retired carpenter that use to work on landed property most of the time, so he have seen all the high end stuff, contact his friend in the field, not many are willing to take up project in HDB, the few that are willing to do so quote me twice as much as an average HDB contractor. Today I get my contractor to quote me a 4m+ frameless glass door and he end up giving a reasonable quote for something like 10mm glass... when I told him my dad suggest something at least 1" thick... he laugh and told me its a five figure thing, and he don't even imagine anyone who live in HDB will use it. Got to admit no $ cannot ask for too much
  21. I've been searching high and low for a push open drawer system after I saw how the blum servo system(out of budget) works. Is there anything in the market that work w/o electric power? What I want is something that I push and the drawer a bit then manually pull out.
  22. I've place my order from them, they sounds like a local factory and only start to make the light after you place your order. Btw, any clue where to get dual 18w PLC downlight casing w/o ballast?
