I gave up the ideal and now opt for parquet. My contractor told me he can't guarantee oak flooring, and the door maker which is my dad's friend, told him oak look nice when new, but will turn dark later on. Goggle american white oak.... that was my initial choice.

I was told by the saleslady that the particular brand are all meant for conceal pipe, the she mention some kind of adapter.

Not much an issue with the low wall thing if you are a gentle user, or the lamination at the back of the kitchen cabinet(the service balcony side) is good.
-
My kitchen layout is almost the same as yours, I'm building the low wall a touch higher than the kitchen tap.
-
Off topic.... Did you see any of those light without bulb and ballast? I'm into LED, but have an issue buying light casing as most shop sell them with ballast.

Do PM me pls. Ths

Going to start the hacking process this week. Looking at my "things to buy" list I need to rob the bank...lol

I see your point, I was planning for no skirting due to the same possible "collect dust" issue, then my dad and my contractor keep blasting me with issue of mobbing the floor and dirty the wall. A few hundred in your case if you can take it easy should not be an issue... pay a bit more and it save you trouble for a long long time. Sometimes in life we give and take a bit lah, after spending in 10k notes... a few hundred don't feel any pain at all. Do post some picture after its done, I may copy cat the same ;-)

Now its the door maker turn to freak out when I told him I want solid wood door. Guess I really need to give it a second thought ...>_<.... Anyone here use oak wood for flooring please do give me some advise.

The 3" width is fixed, and its termite resistance is high. The contractor still sounds very scary.... Either I've to find a way to convince him its fine, or he'll have to give me a good reason otherwise.

If you are talking about slightly smooth up the edge, it should be part and parcel to the tiling works.

I normally prefer to stay away from chipboard stuff.

My current door is not much better than yours lol Even the frame are rusty. They can be change lah, but if you want the door frame to be change as well, then its rather complicated.
-
I understand how you feel, my head is cracking atm as well There are practically 1001 things to consider ...>_<...

You must have some friends or relative with a wall drill around lol.
-
146sq meter not small lah. The slant wall truly makes the id/contractor happy. BTW, if you plan to use the study room as toddler, do check if there are any gas pipe there.
-
Very nice layout, from the main entrant, can see right to the balcony. The dinning area, in a more seclusion corner. You will face small issue like I do if you plan to install storage heater, as the two are rather distanced apart.
-
understand from my contractor that hbd won't allow it to be use outside.
-
Cannot lei... its not HDB approve to conceal pipe.
-
Turn yellowish or not is one issue, other issue is how long before the glue give way, and/or when will the lousy timber inside absorb enough moist to break.

Your ID quote you every small bit and pieces like disconnect existing wash basin. You can try to ask for details like what wood are use in those laminated furniture... guarantee to scare you off. Do your study, for electrical wiring see the difference between parallel and ring circuit. For pipe check out Australia copper pipe with copper joint versus whatever they provide you. For furniture, ask what type of wood they use... Many ppl are like my wife that want thing that looks good at the start, but qns is how long will they last.

My dad visited his designer's friend house and advise me that oak wood flooring is very nice. Then my contractor sounds so scary when I told him that's what I want. He make his disclaimer that he can guarantee if things screw up later, due to the possibility of wood shrinking issue. Anyone else here use oak wood for flooring? I understood that they are 3' by 1-1.5ft variable length.

Just order two sets of gorhe shower fitting and understood from the sales lady they are meant for conceal wall piping. Anyone have picture of the converter or adapter for them to me use with expose pipe?
