  1. As my co and myself prefer light coloured top, we ops for caesarstone. While we have yet to officially move in, I see that the caesarstone top is not as shiny smooth as solid surface top.
  2. imho, your tiler did a bad job. Your wall "may" be originally slant, but they should level it. I'm living on the 15 floor and have big issue with slant pillar and walls, my tiler have level all my walls with the cost on me(as I'm overseas during the job, and I get them to redo the whole job).
  3. While it can be use with single phrase 240v( method on the picture top left ), the start-up current will be far too much for the HDB circuit breaker.
  4. For me, the carpenter make the rack(or whatever) and the electrician install it. This have nothing to do with the solid surface guy.
  5. Its for 3 phrase circuit, not something you'll find in HDB flat. Its mostly for factory where you have 3 live wire & 1 neutral to make 415V
  6. Also the labor cost for cutout of the sink and stove may not be included.
  7. This is bo-bian... my living ceiling is lower than average HDB flat, and this is the one and only I can use in case I raise my hand standing up.
  8. Trust me, use plaster... they will crack 1-2 years later but can easily patch back by yourself. Silicon glue are "short cut" with plenty of issue later on.
  9. mind to share the supplier for this gate :-)
  10. In dry area, it'll collect dust, turn dirty colour and I've yet to find a solvent that can clean them away. In wet area, fungus will grow between the silicon glue and tiles.
  11. Silicon glue will patch up all the gap and will look nice for the start. 1-2 years you will regret using it. I much prefer to use plaster and if they crack I'll dit patch them up. Silicon glue is the most easy way to fill gaps, at the same time most problematic later on.
  12. The glass door supplier screw up big time. The two handle are 10cm uneven. They are going to replace it.
  13. There are still other alternative like electric fence and barb wire
  14. I've 2 fixed panel and 2 moving panel. Understood that due to the door knob there will be a gap in between the panel overlap area. How would one resolve air-con wastage, as well as rain issue.
  15. How I wish to have an open balcony like yours. Here's my alternative suggestion. Buy those thin single strand solid steel wire(use to make spring or fishing), tie them an inch above the horizontal bar. It'll then make it rather painful to step on it, and when your kid is old enough, just cut them away.
  16. I foresee that acrylic will go brittle under the sun.
  17. Wow!!! I've been hearing this marble/mahjong dropping sound randomly for the past 6 years. nv came to my mind that actually nothing was drop on the upper floor.
  18. No reply... guess I'm qualify for one of the "ngeow" type ...>_<... Anyway the final solution was I personally saw off all the freaking PVC corner, and told my contractor to by hook or crook find a way to either cut 45 degree joint, or go for mosaic...any which will cost me a bomb of freaking 8-12k at their pleasure ...>_<... Still I don't understand, why everyone seems to accept the hardest material of ceramic to be mixed with cheapos PVC ...>_<...
  19. Called them when my electrical work is in progress, they told me that they will only do it again Feb 2011, and will cost me $220 :-(
  20. Call up the HDB branch in your area, even if they cannot replace the tiles for you FOC, they should be able to advise you how to deal with it.
  21. Silicon will stick with dust and turn dirty, there are rather impossible to clean.
  22. Well, here's how the story goes... I was working overseas the past two month leaving my wifely and parents to "supervise" the reno work. Came home and was shock that my contractor use the PVC thingy on all the right angle corner. The cost of time, skill + $$$ to change it to either mosaic(rehack + difficulties to find matching colour) or cut 45 degree joint(rehack+lack of tools + skill). Is that any better solution to change it other than bo-bian and eat it?
  23. For this case, you better off use plaster rather than silicon glue.
