  1. Renovation Week 6 -More photos Daughter's pink wardrobe ( Inner layout design by us, planning according to her needs) Study Room's Wardrobe which can double up as Book Shelves ( inner layout design planned by us for dual purposes ) Sorry view is blocked by the wardrobe doors. Kitchen Cabinet ( actually i have a better pic but my camera go battery flat. anyway will repost all photos when completed tomorrow. )
  2. Renovation Week 6 4th May Cornices were up ( two common bedrooms) Common toilet bi-fold door up. Some minor cleaning and room tidying was done. 5th May Alot was done. -Pipes painting at toilet + touchup of the false wall where altar will be. There should be a 2nd layer for whole house later. -Window Grilles were up at last. -The carpentry work are semi completed. Expected to complete by 6th May. Kitchen Solid Surface expected to be up on Saturday along with installation of rest of the bathroom accessories. Allan is confident that flat will be ready this sunday ! Still I dont want to see rush work. I told him we need at least a day to check out all floor tiles and carpentry finishing. ( just to play safe before we issue the final cheque ) Maybe I should give a post dated ? Stressed... Afterall Town Council coming to check on the Ceiling Leakage problem of downstairs neighbour this friday. Not sure when will HDB come? Should I hold on to the final cheque ? Anyway some pictures taken using husband mobile phone today. Window Grilles up at last ( Chosen straight horizontal lines simply because it look simple and easy to clean haha ) Painter from Myanmar still doing OT when we came over . Quite pleased with this guy... he is really gentle in his painting strokes per observation. And the speed of whole house painting is really quite impressive. View of our Shoe Rack- ignore the white sticker which I didnt remove ( Design provided by us. Allan's original design will be round holes instead of the rectangular holes . However we decided to keep per our existing 4 room flat design.) The whole idea of having rectangular holes is to have better circulation.. so that shoes will not be smelly and not mouldy. The same photo you will see that our main gate is now up. We decided on something really simple. Straight horizontal lines. ( heehee.. because easier to clean ) Our 9ft wardrobe.( Inner layout designed by us basis current flat experience )
  3. Continue - From Ikea We will be buying one study table for Daughter & one dresser drawers and one round mirror. After our purchases, then we realise, they must deliver within 3 days of purchases, otherwise will charge an additional storage fee by days. Since our flat is not ready... ended up we did a refund and will have to go down again on a separate day. Ikea charges $55 per trip, and 6% of the cost price for installation.
  4. More Purchases with Photos last Sunday 2nd May From Vhive We bought L shape tables ( basically two tables joint) & one set of drawers, one chair for our study room ( we have two already currently, throwing away one, bring over one old one - > no choice save money ) one chair for daughter's room ) This will be the ideal colour but unfortunately out of stock. Hence we chosen maple colour which is like beige colour. -to be continued-
  5. Status as at today 3 May : All rooms already had their first layer of base paint ( oil base for walls n ceilings ) last week. Today they receive their first layer of colour paint. For a day's work...am pretty amazed this paint guy is so quick ! Understand from the same guy that there will be a 2nd layer after the place is cleaned up. Cool ! Though Allan told husband that flat will be targeting completion this weekend... hmm.. still have some doubts ( window grilles, doors, cabinets & wardrobe installations, touchup on plastering of holes, toilet accessories, kitchen accesories, curtain rods installation, storeroom shelving installation..... plus buffering n chemical wash ?... hmm can finish in one week ? Anyway the intended is still 12th.... Also Town Council after our formal complaint to HDB, they will come this friday to double check if it is really the exterior walls that is causing problems to 5th floor & 6th floor neighbour leaking roofs.
  6. Read up on this. http://mycpf.cpf.gov.sg/CPF/my-Cpf/reach-55/Reach55-2.htm Hence say if u draw a 30 yr loan for eg... and u still haven fully clear the loan but u hit the age where u need to set a minimum sum aside, you may have to start paying cash to finance your loan at an old age. Alot do not know this. We do, hence even though interest rate in HDB loan is low, whenever possible, we clear our loan to reduce the principal amount which in turn reduces the interest. Our target is always to repay fully the loan as early as possible... so that we still have a flat even if we dont have a job. Imagine losing a job at old age ( but before retiring ) and still havent clear your HDB loan . Where to find cash eh ? Hence morale of story is also to find a flat within affordable means (depending on how much ur monthly salary can afford )
  7. huh i tot author of thread is asking about current flat ?
  8. if only$1k can bounce... means the fellow either has many bank accounts (except this particular account is lowly cash..) or in reality really cash broke. I think it is really a blessing in disguise to happen now... what if later then HDB realise he is not financially sound and wouldnt grant the resale... ended up that will be more adminstrative tiring for u. Though cases of Resale at 1st appmt or 2nd appmt calling off is rare but they happen also. Hence change an agent and all the best in your future sales! Surely u can get back in a higher sale price ! Cheers !

  17. Renovation Week 4 Not much photos to update for Week 4. Partly because the bulk of the work was just plastering of all walls ( think cant see much difference on photos since i only visited the place at night. Tiling were completed & Aircon Stage 1 was completed as well ( after much debate on how to do the " aircon ducts? or trunking ? " Basic Electrical Trunking were laid on Friday of week 4. On the 24th Apr, I arrange for delivery of Lightings ( which will be up in week 5 ), kitchen hood & Hob , toilet mirrors, kitchen sink, etc.( abit early but nevermind just have to sit on the floor.) Lightings
  18. oh thks, my current flat de is over mount then. I have one more question. If do undermount, and if for some reasons if need to change in future, is it more difficult ? Undermount> over wear and tear will the water seep thru ? to touch the wood ? If over mount, over wear and tear, the silicion we can touch up ourself... though undermount looks prettier. Haiz.. my sink i cant get the Sahara dessert colour ( Solid surface similar to this colour )... so it is a Grey sink... maybe it wont look so obvious if it is under mount ?
  19. Hi Sorry for ignorance, can explain to me what is meant by under mount or over mount ?
  20. Some thoughts... We went to our place just now. I am pleased that I've chosen clear glass (always prefer them clear, makes the room brighter ) Maybe abit into fengshui... a house needs to be bright to bring in the good energy ? More importantly I hope to keep the same cosy feeling friends felt whenever they come into my 4 room flat. At 7pm, the house, though no lights, can still rely on the " neighbourhood lightings " to allow our late visit. The walls & ceilings were all "screened" or do you call them plastered ? They will receive their first base coat this weekend. All floor tiles were completed, only left with skirtings for two common bedrooms. For some reason, the rooms actually look bigger with all the white tiles heehee... wonders of the colour chosen i think. Tomorrow the plumbing may start instead of next week. The electrican will come in to put up some of the wiring as well. We also check by Chelsea Lightings for the additional 2 lights, plus a change of one of the altar light into LED light making it 3. So now damages is at $1700 for the lights instead. Looking forward to the delivery of some of the ordered stuff : BathRoom Accessories, Kitchen Hob & Hood, lightings this saturday. For some reason today feel like friday... but haiz.. one more day to go. Will take some pics over the weekend.
  21. we are tall so if the mirror we put above the basin , below the windows will not be an ideal location for us. Hence mirror will not be above basin for the master bedroom. Common bedroom we will shift the basin area. But I agree, it is indeed challenging to work within contraints.
  22. yah is very cosy and is live in condition for the person buying our existing 4 room. though i think the wife of the buyer was upset that the storeroom was gone ( heehee ) so i think they will definitely re-renovate again.
  23. thats true, we also have the drill but will be a hassle to do it ourselves.. heehee... so i will nag him to do it if possible .
  24. very pretty kitchen and toilet. Btw your kitchen definitely looks bigger than mine ? I am also doing a similar L shape but as we are doing a Chimney Hood, so we are doing away with the top cabinets ( easier for " cleaning " due to heavy cooking ) for the cooker area. But with the top cabinets removed, we have no choice but to locate the fridge on the other side. hmm.. so my will end up very traditional kind i think haha... Your toilet didnt have the " pipes" leh, can fit the mirror there ? Because we have this problem... the big fat pipes !! ended up my mirror will not be on top of the basin but on the wall next to the door.. ( Huge Mirror we are getting )
