  1. Can anyone differentiate Feng Shui from Bazi, palm reading, fortune telling, tao practices?
  2. This is a "to each his own" subject, since read, just to share my toughts here. First time come across in this forum, same mind on this subject. I take foyer seriously, simply home is a pl to rest/accumulate energy(qi) for tmr, a pl to shield you from "harms", so u can have a peaceful mind..... I see foyer into 3 parts: (can influent one's mood (short term) & mindset (longer term) 1. Before foyer. Setup/arrangement before entering house. 2. Foyer. What u see/feel when u 1 foot in & 1 foot out. 3. After foyer. 1. Basic rule: Bright & clear from obstruction. Have a "welcome home" feeling. I place a customised stone bench covered with granites(same as hall's floor), next to entrance. To sit, wearing/removing shoes. To sit while wait for lift. To put hand-carry stuff while opening gate/door. Have a open-shoe rack(not in photo), at the other side. Notice gate's swing direction which symbolising a "welcome". Gate can swing only abt 100 degress, the right to it is a wall. Too bad, wall "directly facing" the door upon entering, cannot hack, no choice. Behind door is storeroom, narrow path. So decided no-door for storeroom, but with a blind instead. Took me quite a while to decide such. Initial quote was to have new frame & new door. I asked ID to hold this item while proceed the rest first. No bi-fold, no sliding, no swing, but decided verticle up & down. 3. Should be bright & "spacious". Turn left will see 3 wooden pilers at largerest wall at hall, up, no horizontal, meaning "live". Why "3"?. Simply "4" no good, "5" is too many. 2"3" floor, unit #11"3". My previous 2 units, all located at 1"3" floor.   3. If u've read my postings, u'll realise i'm in fact a firm believer of FS, otherwise I would not have spent such lengthy of time and efforts over the years reading chinese books w.r.t. fs. FS setting will change/influent one's mindset & therefore behaviour "gradually", not overnight! FSM said complicated Chinese name stroke of 4, 9, 13 will "turn" one into someone like LKY & previous ROC's president CSP, u believed such? Remember simple facts: No tree will be no shade. No fire will be no smoke. Ppls like to complicate things for personal gains = draw legs to snake which attracted many on lookers.
  4. He who knows nothing doubts nothing. Everything begin from doubts. Be realised the fact that believers turned from non-believers. Don't like that, let non-believers in. FS is an art as well as science.
  5. The 5 elements concept in fact quite "imaginary" but practical as observed by all chinese physicians, unlike yi-yang, "xi-xiang" & bagou which are "mathematical". To quantify and manage 5-element, don't know which "genieus" "invented" the "bazi" - to calculate one's body has "more" or "less" of this or that elements, based on one's DOB, timing. So by changing environments could compensate /strengthen one's "qi" - the optimum sum of 5 elements, in the hope to get healthier and therefore long life -which is the fundamental objective of "original" Taoism. Personally I do not trust "bazi" - too simplify and static, as it is a manipulation of figures. One's fate is not governed by WHEN/WHERE/HOW you are born, but to facts of "LAWS OF UNIVERSE" - eg, law of gravity, sun rises from E & set at W, cause & effect (effect could take quite long time to be observed, as long as after 3rd generation), etc. A good "qi" ensures you a healthier body, but does not garantee you a "good fortune ahead". "qi" can only be "observed" and is rather "dynamic", not static and cannot be calculated based on figures. "qi" varies with environmental changes & "laws of universe" are facts. FS must follow laws of universe. Houses built along slope, with mountain/s at back & moving water source nearby are considered "excellent" why? With mountain/s, weather changes is more predictable as strong wing shield the strong wing and make cloud moves slower. Slope - rain water will flow downward, no flooding and good defend position for coming invaders. Moving water - all human needs water, stageant water is toxic. These are basics and follow laws of universe. A "good" residential unit nowsaday, like hdb, need no mountain( but need strong gov instead), need not to be built on slope, need no moving water source (water contract with malaysia to be expired in 2012, be wary!), adequate light/wind (now all these can be compensated by electricity!) What we need to maintain a good "qi" nowsday? My interpretation is: - Good/smooth career ensures predictable income. This is the effect, what is the cause? By now, u should know. - Harmony family. Again Effect, cause? u need to put in a lot of efforts. - Physical fit - constant physical exercise and take in with "80% full" rule. - Common sense not sixth sense. Common sense comes after gaining knowledge. Note: Above is what I knew after reading many chinese books (some with wen yuan wen), for sharing, not for teaching. I am doubtful as to accuracy of translation from chinese to englishes fs books, cos many terms are rather "imaginary" and conceptualised. Anyong know english term for "xi-xiang", "Bagou", "wen chiang wei"?
  6. Good man, good deeds but ill end. Bad guy, ill doing, good ending. Right? Job 1:21 says: "Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked I will depart, The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away... " Do not be "red-eyed" toward who're doing well, look at those less fortunate, not only let u felt better and will give you strength. No one wants accidents and does not know WHEN they will come. Human cannot control "luck", "luck" always follow a harmonial yet contented family. No quarrels, sort things out, things will slowly turn better, need no fsm.
  7. Agreed with 2 of you, anyway, FS is more than common sense. FS is originated from ancient medical theory of human body (5 elements). Basically, each human body contains these 5 elements with different proportions (each differs). One is healthy when the mix of the 5 reach optimum. Once healthy, "flow" will in and things around you are "believed" will get "smoothen", but actual fact tells us not necessary true. Good man, good health, good deeds die tragically often heard. Bad man, ill doing with "good luck". FS is a study of change of physical environments, to make(compensate) one's 5 elements to get balanced/quivalence/optimum so to stay healthy (not necessary wealthy!) and that's all. Time passes, taoism/miao san/some budhism practises, stars observation, palm reading, character reading come in and become "rojak" and "bazi" developed. Sorry I now have to fetch son, wife is screaming, to be cont.
  8. Since u mention bedok. B4 looking for resale hse in June last yr. I suggested Ponggol, and my wife insisted Bedok(N or S, but no Chai Chee). I've been in Bedok since 1979. At last I gave in to her. Here were her wants & my wants on "old flat": She: near mrt, floor area as big as present. Me: >20 floor, hse orientation(sunlight, airflow, view), 100k for reno, hse price 500-600k, neighbour ok.etc Now satying - 23rd fl, 32 year-old - near mrt - same fl area as previous's hse, 119msq. - reno close to 95k (incl aircon, some electrical stuff, furniture) - hse 518k+10kcov+(3%-5,400)stamp + 1% comm with 7%gst - 4unit per fl, 2 units own by parents + son(single), 1 PR indian family of 4 +maid. - everyday can see water (bedok reservoir+sea), mountains, ships, aeroplanes, cars - morning sun facing - Windows: N, E, door=W My conclusion: Where to find this kind of house !Very rare! So, chance comes, grasp first. Flat "old" is not an issue, as long as it "close to mrt".
  9. I believed one has to answer to his own decision, regardless the situations. This is the basic principle of cause & effect = You want to do this, you will get this. Now get this and made known to public and excuses here & there. If I were the MC, would charge daily interest on outstanding, simply these ppl are enjoying the facilities at others' expense! Baywater condo at bedok reservoir does such posting on notice board also, fyi.

Basically u can't compare reno quotes paple to apple, some "intangible" factors do matters like delivery timing, quality o/p, not-calculative, coordination between sub-con, etc. A "good" quotation should be clear & transparents with figures likes psf, tile price's range, etc otherwise the ID can easily "manipulate" the material, psf etc. Your quote seems lack this features, ask the ID to re-quote with details, see mine below (finalised after 3rd round of 4-eye meeting) and yet have some discrepancies with actual as built.(see yellow highlighted).   11. Last yr, the lady MP Lim HH already mentioned the gov (NDM, FM & IRAS) is "looking" into this and gov agreed that present one is not up to standard. Mah BT headed for HK to "steal" some "script" on this, is he back already?. Just wait & see. Anyway, what can the gov do? Besisde liciensing individual agent with point system, exam entry test, refresher course & what else?
  12. Last time (now still have)trading share only through brokers, therefore "higher charges" need to be paid. Tech advance, now trade share on line on your own need pay "lower charges". Same here, now real estate info made available in many channels and free (quick & fast), ST posting a bit out dated(too late)already (btw, i got mine via st). Conclusion: comm % should be cut, cut, cut. Logical?
  13. Many thanks for broaden the horizon. I think Phantom may be thinking of giving up the dream & pitch a tent at Changi beach. Gov likes "invisible" hand theory very much, ie biddings, cov, coe, land tendering, etc and claims these are "demand & supply" theory, but behind "invisible" hand is actually an visible one, and a very big and powerful one.
  14. You're quite right, especially on the daughter part. I'm not that bad lah away want to kick dog "fly". I'm targeting at irresponsible owners. I have had dogs, cats, rabbits before, I can understand the feeling. Anyway, when dog "charge" toward" you & let it bites? Only then seek medical compensation or start lawsuit is humane? The posting of AVA contact is for info and action if necessary, no ill intention. No "ill" behaviour should not be wary about this.
  15. Quite agreed with 2nd para. Sorry lah, don't quite understand what is "behind the curve" & which curve, the one mentioned by yoongf? If that's the case, may be gov is considering allowing cov to be paid by cpf, to "compensate" for earning power's under elasticity?

  17. The answer to this is to each his own. Just my little thoughts when I choose where to stay: - Any ''good" schools for children - to/from work, car, bus, mrt? - mkt?hawker cct? - leisure parks? - senior citizen estate?
  18. Sorry to steal the thread. FS has completely nothing to do with Chinese's Lunar 7th month. Taoism & part of Buddism practices have created much myths and veils as to FS. If do thing with "psychological pressure" in mind, better don't do, cos you've lost half the battle which yet to start.
  19. 4.7mil of population with 1mil hdb flats just completed recently. 4 ppl in 1 unit. Assume 75% pol in hdb, need 4.7m/4 = 1,175,000 flat ! Don't understand gov got statistic department to reflect ACTUAL but seems not acting (build home) quick enough to have demand met. Price sure will go up in range of 8%-15% yty. Logical for gov to slow down intake of immigrants. Interestingly, gov reset cpi's base to 100% in 2009, the rest of years' "re-adjusted", any significance?

  21. A. Lawyer -% of wife/husband cpf OA to use as 1st lumpsum payment, if any. - % of wife/husband cpf AO to use for monthly instalm, fill up form. Ask lawyer WHEN u can do cpf monthly instalment payment via internet. Ask lawyer what forms need to sign. -Standby to receive keys, handbook(if any), vehicle tag,etc. - Pay 6 month maintenance fee in advance to MC. Lawyer suppose to arrange this. - Standy to receive letter from IR stating u got this property dated.... and pay property tax. - Lawyer to settle with seller like remaining maintenance payment, keys handover, vehicle tag......and lawyer supposed to pass all these to u, NOT seller directly. B. Bank - Before hand, study yr loan details & nature, eg: lock in period, partial lumpsum & full redemption term & conditions - When effect 1st mnthly instalment. - How to pay partial lumpsum payment, any conditions.. Usually need to inform bank yr intention 1 month before hand, etc - If partial payment by cpf OA, go directly to CPF branch, b4 this, must decide wife's % & yr % contribution... - Important! make sure you approach the CORRECT bank's branch when doing partial/full redeemption. Ask your bank which branch your loan doc will be kept! Go to that branch while doing paper work. Some banks have comm-based "staff" who will not entertain your request as to above! C. Seller - Joint inspection one wk before taking over. -Utility acct when change-over. - Best to have a list (non-movable item) to check against, so no dispute when koint inspection. Logon to URA web, download a file named "strata living" and also a "strata list", you will know yr condo has a specifi strata #, terms like MCST, MA, MC, etc. By right, your MC(Management corporation) should be notified by either your lawyer or URA (not very sure which). Anyway, no harm double confirm with the condo manager.
