Plastering Of Ceiling Question
Caireann replied to Caireann's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
Now I know why all walls in the flat I bought look smooth while the ceiling looks rough. The renovation guide shows where have to apply and where not. Since the ceiling is not mentioned in the main part I think everyone just assumes: no need to apply permit because its nothing much. -
I read in the HDB renovation guide that plastering of ceilings is not allowed. On the other hand I have seen falts where the previosly lousy looking ceiling has been plastred. Does anyone know whats going on here? Here: OpenDocument it sais: Examples of Renovation Works Not Allowed: Plastering of ceilings.

go to imageshack.us and upload the pics there, then post the link. Here they have a lot of money to get the Invision Power Board software, but then not enough money to get enough server space so that pics can be uploaded.

Every time you open it and many chutes start leaking after only a few years.
-
Drinking alcohol ruins your brain and general health. Dont do it and dont advertise alcohol.
-
Great idea, and when the chute leaks bad smells it goes all through your clothes.
-
Sure you can disguise the chute or you can get a nicer looking chute. If you build the sink around it, how much do you want to struggle every day to throw away your rubbish? Dont obstruct the chute too much or it is difficult to throw away things.

It looks quite nice. Guess HDB has approved that design because the shower is separated by a glass screen from the rest. I dont like the glass around the shower so much because it makes it more difficult to clean the whole floor. Besides, sometimes I need a chair underneath the shower. Well, but it looks good. For the tiles: I have selected the same colour scheme for me, but smaller tiles. I dont know, big tiles look elegant, but dont they make the room look smaller? For the tiny bathrooms I have selected 20*20cm tiles, for the Kitchen 30*30cm and for the living room and the rest 60*60cm tiles. Same tiles in the hall and the bedrooms.

Yes, the hole is a little bit more than 1 foot from the wall. A friend, as I wrote had the toilet much further away from where it is now and it seems HDB allowed to make the changes as long as the flat below was not affected.
-
Someone here has put the sink outside in a separate part. If you intend to live without tenants then it might be OK to hack the wall inbetween the two bathrooms. If you want to get a tenant for some extra money, then better dont hack. I will try to apply to shift the toilet a bit. My latest thought to turn the back of the toilet towards the widow gives a bit space to put a sink beside. Still, in general I find most of the older bathrooms too small to carry out proper hygiene. HDB said: but bathroom is not soooo important. Well, latest studies prove HDB comments wrong.

People from the HDB hub here just told me: "dont know, cant say" Its HQ decision ... a frind of mine shifted it quite a bit and HDB allegedly approved it.....I dont know what to do or believe now. Sure the whole pipe cannot be relocated because the nighbour below would be affected...maybe it could be extended a bit

A friend just told me that she moved the toilet bowl from underneath the window to the opposite side, away from the window. HDB allegedly approved that.

Its a jumping spider. You can find them in a few sizes and many different colours here in Singapore. Even yellow ones with blue stripes. The biggest ones I have seen are about 1 cm long.
-
Here my pet. havent enough money to afford more, but it looks sweet.
-
Just got another idea without shifting the tolet bowl too much.... has anyone done that? That way there is enough space to put a sink into the existing small bathroom...

I would not even use aluminium. Aluminium can corrode and it leaves white spots on the aluminium later forming holes. Best stainless steel. Vanity stuff is plastic and that turns ugly yellow over time. Try ceramics or glass.

Hi, in the last days I have looked around what others did in terms of renovation. Quite a few told me that they shifted the toilet bowl to another more convenient place. Question: does HDB now allow that??? and to which extend do they allow that?
-
I could just hack it, then later waste money to re-build it and being faced with the same dilemma as before. Besides, I would have to open the floor to bring the piping for the toilet back out which would have to be hidden if I create a shower area there. Well, I probably cant even hack it because I would lose the place where the sink currently is and I would have to move the sink in front of the toilet where the space is already small. I can do that also now even without hacking.

How Long Is The Wait For 2nd Appt?
Caireann replied to Little Monkey's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
It can depend what you agree with the owner. I had 1st appointment 6th Oct. 2nd is requested by owner and buyer to be the 25th Nov. You can also request less. -
Someone Kena Rob After Moving In
Caireann replied to ejzoen's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Its easy to copy keys. Renovation companies can do it or the previous owner. Recommend: change all locks after renovation. I myself have an extra padlock to lock the main gate. No one has the key of that. Only me. -
I think, if HDB allows it then you dont have to remove it. Only illegally carried out works have to be reverted. At the end counts, as long as you like it, but, if you want to sell, and the buyer doesnt like it...well, then they can buy another flat. I actually do like my privacy and dont like the idea having tenants around. I just have to consider it as last reserve, but I have to consider it. That sounds pretty small. If I would squeeze a 60cm vanity top into the extension because more is not allowed then I would touch both walls with my elbows when brushing my teeth. How much would such an extension cost???

Please tell me: Did HDB allow that extending of the wet area bathroom into dry area bedroom? HDB told me thats not allowed. For your kitchen: The cooking spot is in the L part parallel to the window. Dont you worry that fat from there splashes over onto your washing machine when cooking? They usually recommend to put the sink there. Actually for cleaning it is better to have the sink in the middle in-between working area and cooking area, just like on your pic..
