That's very generous to offer $100 off. But you did accepted the offer that's why you went ahead with the purchase or is it because you have made deposit or full payment? I personally think $100 is fair enough, plus they did apologise and try to make things right. So quite ok afterall.

My dad was a renovation contractor before he retired. He faced so many customers who do not pay. But regarding this matter, he said he will collect payment only after the reno is completed. And not collect before it's done. But on a case by case basis, he sometimes will ask customer to pay up before the work is completed. These customers so not pay in full lump sum, they will pay in stages as the reno work progress. Some customer fail to make payment or are late to pay when it was time to pay up. If the customer is always late and want to drag payment, then my dad will request the customer to pay up before he complete his job. hmm.. I think you also have to look out for the delivery and installation fee. Many places advertise incredibly low price, but when you are there, they tell you other hidden cost. And the whole thing ends up even more expensive. To avoid making a waste trip, call up to ask for the actual prices and cost involved. Many places sells the same thing but some places sells it higher priced, some places lower. A better way to compare price/quality would be to do a google search, and read the reviews of people who have bought it. Consumers don't lie.
