  1. Hi, dun mind me asking also... Where is Wan Tai?? Thanks
  2. Orh.... no lah.... I stay in the estate behind your block and used to walk through the downstairs of your block to get to the bus stop to go to work lah.... Dun worry... I not stalking you.... Am also looking to buy an EM so very interested in whatever EM reno there is... Oh.... Induction Hob is allowed in HDB is it??? Heard from someone that HDB cant use induction hob..???
  3. Thanks for the info regarding the fire rated doors.... Oh SGBuzz... your place gets the afternoon sun right..... How are you planning to deal with that?? Looking for some innovative suggestions to deal with the full onslaught of the afternoon sun.
  4. Looking at your balcony and living room views, I think I know roughly where your unit is... Don't worry about the private estate in front of your dining room. Its very quiet and peaceful one... I used to walk through that everyday to get to the bus stop outside to go to and back from work... You have 2 nice parks to choose from in the private estate in front of the block behind yours... Think your unit is pretty good! Far enough from main road not to hear the noise yet close enough for you to walk to take public transport. Want to ask you something.... in your reno list, you mentioned "non-fire rated main door"... I thought that its a HDB requirement that ALL main doors be fire rated??? Or have they changed that already? Thanks
  5. Sorry, just to check again about putting in a WC on the ground floor when it doesn't originally have one. Can I install the WC some distance, say about 1m away from the main sewage pipe or MUST it be around the area where the main sewage pipe is?? Thanks
  6. Thanks so much for all your quotes and estimates. Will know how much it roughly is now, before I kena carrot...
  7. Thanks for the info.... can I have a rough estimate how much something like this would cost? Cos I understand that the contractor would need to open the WC pipe to that level and extend it or something like that.... so.... roughly how much ah??
  8. Need help from EM owners... Anyone whose original EM had no WC on the first floor and then had their contractor to install one????? Can anyone tell me if HDB will allow this and roughly how much something like that will cost? Thanks
  9. can try the double wall thingy, but that means, u lose floor space leh.... I read that there's some kind of glass called low E glass that can cut away the heat plus double glazing is supposed to be very effective lah... anyone got experience with this??
  10. Sorry Wenny, I don't quite understand something. I hear you talking about how bad your ID is. However till now, we still don't know which rogue ID yours actually is. (Or have I missed you mentioning it???) Would you mind sharing with us exactly which company this ID is, so that the members here will stay far away from scum like this. Thanks
  11. I have walked almost the entire stretch of Balestier road, popped in to see quite a no. of IDs portfolios and it seems that all the designs that IDs do these days are all modern contemporary/classic or zen/minimalist.... Any IDs out there that design other themes?? anyone has any experience with IDs that design other themes???? The hotel suite / showflat look is not really my cup of tea...... those that like it.... more power to you, but I'd like to see something else that IDs are capable of..... anyone???
  12. Is there any way that I as a buyer can check if the seller is a bankrupt?
  13. I know there's 1st and 2nd appointment. My question is, when exactly does the flat change ownership from the seller to me and when can I start reno without worrying that the deal might somehow fall thru and the flat reverting back to original owner??
  14. Hubby can afford mah... anyway.... after I told her about what I read here, she decided against going ahead with something illegal... So... all's good... Thanks a bunch for your help guys...
  15. Hi, my friend was asking me about this... She's looking to buy a resale flat and the total asking price by the seller is 550K (520K + 30K COV), but the seller's agent has told her that its a negative sale by the seller and is asking her to declare the actual transaction price as 542K and then the seller's agent will collect the remaining 8K (which is part of the seller's agent comm) from her. She got a couple of questions about this situation. 1. Is it illegal? 2. Will anyone get into trouble? 3. What is a negative sale? 4. What difference does declaring a lower value make in this case? 5. Any other important things that she should take note of or ask before going ahead with this arrangement?? Thank you on behalf of my friend...
  16. U voted for the opposition in the last GE?????? hahahaha....
  17. something for your consideration. It is NOT TRUE that TRUE stainless steel doesn't rust...... as long as there is iron content in that stainless steel, there is the ability to rust. In other words, ALL stainless steel will rust, given exposure to oxygen and time. Its just a case of how long it will take to rust that differentiates the good from the average....
  18. OK... I have read eveything that you have posted in all the threads so far, so I'm not just picking the paragraph... what I'm saying here is that this last bit is most telling.... But yes, I generally agree that the government has somehow lost touch with the problems of the common man in the street, be it flat prices or otherwise...... I mean how many of our ministers stay in a flat or take public transport to work...... or draw anywhere near the salary of the avaergae working adult??????
  19. Per title..... any disadvantage or advantage of buying a resale unit in an opposition ward?? Is valuation generally lower for resale units in an opposition ward?? Thanks
  20. Applause for the man please......... I feel your pain and mine Extremely valid points..... but seriously.... WRONG forum man!!!!!
  21. You are definitely ignorant.... there are build to order brides..... just choose vietnamese, thai, hainanese etc...... hahhahahahahaaa.... but seriously..... interesting post....
  22. Well... let me give you a simple answer to your question. Mr Huss obviously belongs to the elite group of expatriate foreign talent that makes 3, 4 or maybe even more times the wage of an average heartland Singaporean, who back in his own native sweden, could just be the average heartland swede wage earner.... No wonder he finds it cheaper to live here..... No offence meant to Mr Huss... See... there... easy right..... question answered..
  23. If you have a point to make, please say so. If you have a political agenda, I don't think this is the right place to further it.
  24. I agree with this last paragraph..... i fear for both my wife and my own retirement once we sink our CPF right now and future contributions into my flat
