The ceiling in my parents' place is high. Old flats have high ceiling. Hai. Yup yup, many ways to create a cozy look. Other than paints, u can consider wallpapers to create the look.
-
My ceiling is abt 2.5 or 2.6m... Annjoy, u like bolder colors or not then?
-
I did a quick drawing using PAINT. Pic abit small though. In such a scenario, shadow will be cast on the ceiling. Generally, tiles and walls are consider gd reflector of lights. Of course, it depends on the surface and color of the tiles and wall colors. In the scenario u illustrate, I don't think the shadow is a big issue as covelights are not very 'strong' lights and the light are reflected within its zone. But I think the light intensity of downlights might create this shadow issue. I think it is better for reno mates with ceiling fans to provide their input.

Yup yup. I think older ppl will prefer ba.

Cheery of cos. And modern. Hehe. If u are doing tempered glass backing, hopefully u are not doing any frosted glass cabinets. Will u have one? Very likely to spolit the looks. Not wrong though. Just that frosted glass don't match with tempered glass. Different surface finishing. Finishing will not be smooth. My 2 cents worth too. Hee. Different theme is okie, like disneyland lor. Heehee. Anyway, it won't be awkward. Uusally, the room theme should be more consistent with the living room theme than the kitchen. And if u are going for a completely different theme, it is really okie too. When u are in the living room, just close the door of the room. U won't feel the constrast then.

This one I don't really like. More homey than resort feel.
-
I also like gold.... but REAL Gold. Lol. I those those gold paint with shimmering effect. And ppl usually don't chose white paint. White paint is for base. Usually those vinyl white paint for example.
-
This is nice of course! U want to do/imitate something like that? Hehe. Just talk crap now. Hmm, from the pic, few options to get the navy/sky blue. I don't think I saw such a blue tile before unless is retro tiles but the tile size is quite small one. Or u doing cement screed? Then u can paint blue. If not, use tempered glass with blue backsplash as wall backings. Hee. Talking abt tempered glass, if I got money to burn, I won't use laminates for my kitchen cabinets, will use tempered glass.

A different lighting. Hehe.

Angel should be right. Covelight is a indirect light source, so shouldn't cast any shadows due to the fan blade. Correct me if I am wrong cos I never have ceiling fan plus covelight before. Hee.

Annjoy, any idea ur quotation has any limitation on the number of paint colors u can choose? Most ppl will have max 5 colors. Usually white is a complimentary color if u have number of paint colors limitation. So u will still have 5 colors to choose. Yup, white paint is cheaper. If u really use white, must tell ID to give u a cheaper price for painting.

Not pro la. Maybe because I like to read up on such home designs or decor stuffs in my free time. Hee. Hmm, the kind of lights to use really depend more on the types of activities u are doing in each individual living space or own preference. For example, some ppl like to watch tv with white lights. Some prefer warm lights. Others will prefer cool white. Just note white lights in any living space 'kill' the ambience.

She MIA again. Wah lau, all the free gifts taken la. No swiss roll or cup cakes for us also.
-
In this case, I think it is to blend in. Or if u can't hide it, show it loud. Paint the pipe gold for example. Haha. 2 pages handover liao, kopi boss 48 pages and counting. Ha.
-
Hmm, my post has more words. Then 6 cents worth lor. Ha.

Unique but might not be so functional. Check this out - http://www.elicacollection.com/ Many other unconventional designs. The swaroski crystal hob really stand out. But the price also 'stand out'. . Hee. -
I love chocolate swiss roll!!

Wenny is a BOSCH supporter! I think BOSCH don't manufacture TV. If not, I think u will buy from them also. Hee.

Maybe too much white? To 'produce' a cosy feel, passive colors (eg. vinyl white, cream colors) are usually used. Did u tell him Johnny u are going to read in the room? If so, he probably goes with the safe colors for the first drawing. Or are u actually going for 'ambience' in the room? If so, darker shades are used. I was also thinking from the drawing, white lights seem to be choosen for the room, that why too 'white'.
-
This looks familiar but cannot recall. Ha. Great choice.
-
Will u have an oven? Hmm, the white cabinets look more metalic to me though.
-
Yes, of course. It really depends on the kind of home u want to have. . In my case, I bought a premium HDB flat but I also changed the tiles. White tiles are the easiest to find matching furniture. If anyone wants to have dark granite flooring, most probably going for a darker theme.
-
Nothing last forever anyway. In the case of kitchen top, granite might last longer but the material characteristics doesn't give a modern feel especially if u are going to use white cabinets. My view is a modern kitchen should either use solid surface top or stainless steel. Gd points of solid surface top is more colors to complement your kitchen color theme. A more 'glossy'/reflective kitchen top also help to brighten a small kitchen and it give a classy finish top to the overall kitchen feel. This is a gd reference (http://www.trendir.com/archives/cat_kitchens.html). And these days, I think many do not place cold drinks on any surface directly. Coasters are use. Then again, I believe everything wise, it is really a matter of personal preference.

Err... if u want to do, can do. But next time when u want to sell the house, u need to 'rectify' all these modification which is not acceptable by HDB lor. Hee. How come no pics? A picture paints a thousand words.
