Morning Annjoy. I think I mentioned before matt wood + glossy might not be nice. The main reason is our kitchens are generally quite small. Space is the main factor here. U might not be able to achieve the level of constrast between both materials. Furthermore, u also need to achieve the right balance/mixture between both materials, how much glossy and how much non-matt. Too much or too little will kill the look. Asethetic wise, I really believe any design type can be outstanding and different. Know you are going for resort theme. I think the below designs might suit u, a gd mixture of both I feel: Or maybe a bit more woody?

The drawings are looking gd. Personally, I do feel the toilets are abit plain. But I think the design theme is on the sleek end. So it draws a better relationship between each individual area. I also believe putting some small plants will do the trick, especially when you will have plants in the study room also. Do upload the revised 3d drawings.

I think I will visit the stall during peak hrs and disrupt his business by making a big scene.

These types of non-glossy colourful laminates are still available in the market though.

Some of our laminates are from Lam Chuan. I don't know whether they are any gd but during my initial stage of choosing IDs, some of the more exp ID like Orangecube used laminates from them. They say their laminates are better. My ID said so too. But neither my carpentry are up yet nor I have used laminates from them before. So I also don't know how gd their laminates are. Anyway, they have this new series of wood laminates which even my wifey who don't like wood grains say it is nice. The laminate with texture lines look like tree barks/trunks. But confirm will trap dust. ps. I didn't know if I type Orangecube properly will change to ******

I got free plastering too. Hee. But my house not much plastering compared to yours.

On one sat when I was there, my tiler (one) manage to finish tiling one toilet in a day. I think to give 2 weeks is reasonable. 3 wks abit long unless u doing something special which we don't know. Are u?

I think 3 weeks inclusive of hacking is reasonable. But just tiling alone abit long. But that is the worst case scenario rite. So stay positive.

Such black and white tiles layout not for everyone. I think I saw it in a new renovated apartment in one of the recent home and decor if i am not wrong. It is a character thingy also. Just like when we go for tile selections, most of us will choose the normal or standard designs. Some designs are too strong to be accepted by many. . Hacking will bring up the cost for sure but there are pros and cons to each way of doing. For overlay, it will shorten the height between ceiling and flooring. Old tiles tend to 'pop' out after some times. So, if the old tile 'pop' out in the future, the new tiles will be affected. But of cos, it is cheaper to overlay. And u don't have to worry for waterproofing issue since u didn't hack away the old tiles.
