I don't know the reason behind the delay for Rasfene's case. Take my mickey motif panel doors for example, they are still not ready. Suppliers take up the job but cannot deliver eventually. Then we have to go to another supplier. Eventually, the frame is finally done - last wk. Now the supplier said the motif cannot be bend using 12mm iron. Now we have to go for CNC cut. Next, the glass need to be cut with mickey mouse motif opening - hope this can be done without any problem. It looks like a simple job but it is harder to construct then I can imagine. The one thing I like abt Loyd is he won't say this cannot be constructed or that cannot be done. I would rather wait than take a no. He would just go around and source for the right guy to do the job - even at his own expense. Hmm, by the time the doors are ready, I think the whole construction duration ofit would have taken 5 to 6 months.

Is the extension fully done up? Previously when we were there, he was still DIY-ing some stuffs. I agree with Rasfene. U should have some budget to engage Loyd. And if u are want ur house to be ready before marriage, I think it is better u start ur reno one yr before the actual date. Ha. Rasfene, please don't take as long as me k.

The carpentry works that were done are decent. But the group of carpenters who did the carpentry for the living room is better than the group who did the bedroom wardrobes. Workmanship is indeed better. More importantly, they are willing to take up the job because some other carpenters are not willing to do it because of the amount of work and slight complexity with the design.

These days more and more contractors are engaging freelance graphic designers to do up 3D drawings. So any contractors can give 3D drawings if they are willing to fork out a bit of money to do it.

Things are normal. Hee. ^^. Castle heardboard and cloud bedframe. Then I will have a floating castle! Ha. The price is not cheap. Sourced for a few contacts and none of them are confidence or willing to do it despite giving them the specification. Tomorrow will be around round of sourcing or we will just do up the bed frame first. I hope u are much better already, angel. ^^. Angels are not suppose to fall sick. ^^.

It is always easier to know what we don't like than like. Anyway, I think u feel it is too dark becos for the MBR, the lights are shown but not for the living room and foyer. Mounting on partition wall is okie. Usually behind the partition wall which u intend to mount tv, there will be solid wood backing behind the gysum/partition board.

There are some reasons why many have similar designs. Firstly, if u choose a design which has been done before, construction will be easier and they can deliver on time - the time factor. A different design will takes more time to construct as carpenters have to put in more effort and more time will be required. Then again, not all carpenters want to do something different all their time. Secondly, it will cheaper for owners becos carpenters know in exact how to construct since they are likely to be familar with the design as they have constructed countless times. So, if a carpenter can construct 10 identical tv feature walls and earn $5k in 10 days, would u spend the time to construct one new design of a tv feature wall but earn $4k only? Not all carpenters are waiting to go into uncharted waters. For my case, the carpenter charged a non-economical price for my tv feature walls cum display shelves and writing desk. Not many will want to pay such a price and the construction takes longer time too. I agree with Jaskel that architects are the guys to go to.

I thought chemical engineering pay quite well compare to electrical engineering for example. Networking is IT related field. there is a huge demand for such professionals in the market. Aiya, if ur work is a chore, then it is not boring liao. How many can really say they love their job.. hai.
