  1. Have been some time since I last post new pics of my reno. Here goes: Feature Wall Cum Computer/Writing Desk Feature Wall Cum Computer/Writing Desk Feature Wall Cum Computer/Writing Desk
  2. Hi, I met up with Arlene from Orangecube previously. Quite okie, just feel she is abit cold, chemistry is not there. Otherwise, I think Orangecube is generally gd as they designed many HDB showflats in the past. Quotation is on the high side.
  3. Hi Simon, It has been a while. How is Jaden? Growing up day by day. Agree with you. So long as doing a cookie cutter design, contractor price is definitely cheaper. I think the best way to do reno is get a ID to design. And get contractor to do the basic reno (eg. tiling, hacking). Then the ID to step in again to do up the more complicated part.
  4. My 2 cents. More often than not, the contractors might not have the knowledge to carry out what some IDs suggested. Contractors will also tend to find the cheapest carpenters available in town to give better quotation. If you are constructing something simple, then it will not be a problem. But if the design involves mathematical calculation, angle and pivot construction, etc, I doubt contractors have the knowledge to do the production drawing and pass it to the carpenters to construct or have contact with the more knowledgable carpenters. That is also why some find architects to design and construct cos they have the knowledge to do a better job.
  5. Both types are glue to the surface. So they last equally well. But polykem is slightly thicker, so is better. Yes. It is more exp but not by alot. Some ppl like it, some ppl don't.
  6. Hi Merydith, I got the chairs from XZQT during their recent sales, 30% off their usual price. You can customise the colors u want, though limited colors. . Actually, if you don't like metal legs, u can paint it. More imptly is whether you like the design. Hee. More work involve though. Hee.
  7. Hi, The other material is polykem. Asethetic wise, it looks nicer because you can choose the design - eg. wood grain. PVC is usually white. Check out Garion's t-blog.
  8. Haha, not so soon la. Mickey go visit USS first cos Disneyland not really yet. Haha. But last leg of reno liao. Some grievances and unhappiness but no point in highlighting them. Bed issue haven't been resolve. Didn't take any new pics. Hmm... but I bought my dining chairs liao. Normal looking ones. Wien Chairs by Calligaris
  9. Friends wearing skirts have to be wary going to your place. Glossy black tiles.... hehe.
  10. Hi Wsceow, Nice speakers. On parquet/laminates/tiles flooring, it is more of a personal preference. If u use parquet/laminates flooring for bedrooms, it creates distinction between the living room and former. Tiles flooring throughout the house gives a more consistent look. Usually, it create a more spacious feel. Pros and cons. I do agree on the maintenance part. But everything need maintenance. I believe if u love your own place, u will keep it clean regardless it is parquet/laminates/tiles flooring.
  11. Hi Siron, Shouldn't be an issue. Just have to make hole(s) in the false ceiling to pull the fibre optics wire through. Thereafter, patch up the hole(s) made. False ceiling will be brand new. It won't cost much to do something like that.
  12. Hi patsy_sg, First of all, congrats! I love your floorplan. Balcony! Anyway, I think it will look gd though. It depends on the design. I imagine it will be a mixture of open shelves and some with doors. And since you loves wood, I think wood laminates will look gd also, with the wood grain running horizontally across. White curtains and a bright colored sofa will end it off nicely. Flooring is cement screed or white homo tiles. Hee. My opinion la.
  13. I think it would be better/safer to find someone else for your renovation.
  14. Hi Smallcarrot, No pics at all la? How is everything?
  15. Hi Rasp, Actually, I have to correct myself by saying so long as trunkings are not expose, it is okie.
  16. Kopi is away at this point of time. And he was saying some issue with the reno.
  17. Hi Rasp, I think it is better to conceal. Look nicer. If u got a new flat these days, the wirings are all concealed. The rectification part is always difficult. But I believe it is worth the hassle in my opinion.
  18. Rondy, will upload the pic soon. Agree that mattress is definitely more impt than bed frame. As what Simon said, u need a gd bedframe to support the mattress also. I bought a Serta King size mattress. Hopefully it is gd. I have never use a Serta mattress before. To be frank, I am actually more concern of the asethetic look of the bedroom with the bedframe. Hee. So headache ah...
