  1. That's why myself and friends are forced to either rent a small room or stay with inlaws. Singapore is over-populated and there's insufficient housing for everyone, end up houses become super expensive. Singapore citizenship seems so cheapo, singapore govt gives it away FOC so easily! People without sec school education can also get Spore citizenship. Other countries have far stricter critieria for granting citizenship.
  2. Maybe you can call up the seller and talk to him directly about the matter. Better to depend on youself than your agent.
  3. Is your block very near to the interchange, mrt station or famous school? The agent may be using your block number on ads to lure buyers to contact him. Then he will offer his service to be these buyers' agent. I called up a few ads where the agent claimed that the units were sold on the same day or the owner suddenly didn't want to sell anymore. Then the agent would ask me to view other units with him/her as my agent! I guess there are fake ads that the agents posted to lure potential buyers.
  4. I ever heard of some inspectors did inspection other than the scheduled date. What's your agent name? Must warn the others not to hire him leh.
  5. Then your agent seems to be siding with the seller leh! He's supposed to represent you and help you convince the seller to move out on time.
  6. My seller also asked me for a few weeks extension after 2nd appt. You must take care not to tear the bridge between you and seller. Try to negotiate nicely with the seller. I heard of sellers who smashed the toilet bowls, cracked the pipes, dirtied the house before they handed over the house to the buyers. Because they were pissed with the buyers. These would cause us more headaches.

  8. What I heard from HDB was ... they will assign a 2nd appointment date to us. We can change it to a later date but not to an earlier date.
  9. That word sounds very cheem right hehe? Read this news article. It explains what is a caveat http://www.asiaone.com/Business/My%2BMoney...907-166141.html
  10. How much does it cost? It look quite stylish to me
  11. 6. Application submission ~ $60 (cash) if submit online, $80 (cash) if submit hardcopy. 7. Legal fee ~ $3000 (cpf or cash), bank absorb 0.4% to 0.5% depending on which bank.
  12. A few friends and I bought mattresses, bedframes and wardrobes from www.beds.sg last year. The deliveries were prompt and service was quite good. We have recommended this site to our other friends. Pro: The site sells the similiar things as other furniture stores but at cheaper prices because they have no showroom. Con: You don't get the chance to feel and touch the things before you order them.

  14. What're the addresses of the furniture stores in JB that you bought your stuff from? Do they do delivery to Spore? Please share. Thanks. I'm thinking of getting tables, sofa and wardrobes from JB.
  15. Sigh...there's no free lunch in the world. Once we take any HDB grant or loan, we are tied to a long list of rules.
  16. I also think you should get back 5K + $180 (valuation report)!
  17. I used one agent to arrange unit viewings, while my hubby called up seller agents from the newspaper ads to arrange unit viewings. My hubby viewed a few units. One of them had lower valuation price due to the poorer house condition. It was rented out to a big group of students. The seller's agent requested for only 5K cov, which was the lowest cov we were ever quoted. The seller was not present. Out of curiousity, I asked my agent why she didn't arrange us to view that particular unit? I provided her with only the block number, and she was able to reply me with its floor level and the whole house was rented out. LOL~ she said she and her partner already viewed that unit and did a check on the seller's background with bankers. The seller was declared bankrupt, and his bank forced him to sell it off to repay his debts. She warned that the seller might borrow from loansharks using that unit's address on his NRIC. Heng ah! We never purchase that unit though my hubby was a bit keen on it as it was cheaper than the other units. The seller's agent lied to us that the seller wasn't present, as he had migrated to another country. It'll be hard for buyers to find out the situation of the seller if the seller and seller's agent are bend on hiding things from us! I'll definitely continue to engage her as our buyer agent and pay her the full 1% because she's prompt in reverting, gives good service and knows her stuff well.
  18. Yeah u are right. Once income exceeds 8K, all grants & HDB loan are out of reach.
  19. Hi, Do you all have to pay extra $80 to your agents for the resale application fee? What's the norm like? Is this $80 absorbed by the agents? Thanks.
  20. Sometimes I wonder if the agent will cut back the efforts he spends on a client's case if the latter pays him less for the service? It's human nature for us to give more focus to the clients who are giving us more $$$? Hmm...
