  1. There're those plastic/aluminum sheets that one can paste at the kitchen backsplash to prevent it from getting dirty. I pasted aluminum sheet at my kitchen backsplash near my stove. I will just change the sheet once in a while.
  2. How about getting an 2nd opinion from other shops about 707 heaters? Some salesperson gets more commission from the other brand, so may tend to promote the other brand. I personally know an old lady whose 707 heater is still working after 18 years! I'm thinking of getting this brand if my current heaters spoil.
  3. I think separate ones are better. If one of them is spoiled, you just have to replace one. This saves cost. My mum's washing machine was spoilt after 3 years, she only had to replace the washing machine. Her dryer is still working well till now. On the other hand, 2-in-1 type saves space. See which factor is more important to u hehe.
  4. IKEA GORM rack is cheap. I paid only $55 for it. There are 2 types, wider planks - $55, thinner planks - $45. Also can save on delivery fee if you have a car to drive the rack parts home to assemble.
  5. unless one is prepared to switch on the aircon in the living room for 24hours lor
  6. Map: http://www.streetdirectory.com/asia_travel...el_site_122946/ Civic Centre is across the road from Causeway Point in Woodlands. The furniture shop is located at level 5. I think they have a bigger showroom elsewhere. I bought my L-shape synthetic leather sofa at $500 after discount there in last Dec. It was not display set. When you go there, you can also drop by Courts at Causeway Point level 4. Courts is having sales for its sofas and electronic items now.
  7. Be careful of killing the child's interest in her study with too much stress and wacking, and she gives up on her study completely. I have seen a few such cases.
  8. I bought sofa & coffee table from their civic centre outlet. What I appreciate were: Salesman allowed me to store them at their warehouse for 4 months until I got my keys. Salesman allowed me to exchange them for other items if I changed my mind about them during those months. (I didn't ask for this. I was surprised when he offered this) Delivery was on time. Take note that their prices were the cheapest out there though.
  9. Yap, US Deficit has hit 90% of her GDP. Hope there won't be a double dip recession and everyone gets to keep our jobs. Otherwise, we'll hear of more people jumping down mrt tracks, IR etc.
  10. I saw Homefix store sell solvent specifically for cleaning grouts between tiles. I haven't tried it, so don't know how effective it is.
  11. My Hitachi washer has the kong kong sound too. The sound doesn't really bother me much. What bothers me is my new bed linen material being damaged after the first wash sigh. Yeah I find my inlaws' LG washer and parents' (forgot brand) washer are quieter than my Hitachi washer.
  12. Increase land releases - haha govt wants to stop the aggressive biddings by developers and stablise/push down the prices of property? The house and office supply in the next few years look scary. Dunno if it'll lead to property market crash?
  13. Such horrible people! You should list their block number and unit number here. I wonder how many potential buyers' 5K deposits have they cheated! They should at least returned your hard-earned 5K to you.
  14. I'm not sure how the resale market will go for the later half of this year, hard to predict It's expected that some price resistance from buyers will take place sooner or later, and there's uncertainty about Europe economy. On the other hand, not everyone is willing to wait 4 years for the new flats and Singapore govt is not yet closing the floodgate to foreigners. The new flats will only enter the resale market in 8-9 years time. Personally, I thought resale unit prices would drop during the economy crisis, so I decided to postpone my purchase in 2008. In the end, prices went up in 2009 and I got to pay 80K more for my unit in late 2009.
  15. Your place is very convenient. Very near rivervale mall that has NTUC, foodcourt etc. Very near primary school. Near punggol road busstop that has many buses going to different towns. My 2 friends paid 35K and 38K for mid-floor units in Sengkang that are 4-5 bus-stops away (impossible to walk to mrt station). For them, unblocked view is the most important hehe. I guess everyone goes for different factors during house-hunting. As long you are happy with the unit, it will be worth the price. You will be staying there for at least a few years.
  16. Thanks for the info. Oh I know where is that tree! Hehe I used to stay at Toa Payoh when I was a kid.
  17. What's the address of that TPY shop? My fridge, which is left behind by previous owner, is making funny noises recently haha.
  18. The wood is cracking! The quality is definitely unacceptable.
  19. Your cases sound scary. I will rather pay more for a experienced electrician to do the house wiring than have people injured at home or fires happen at home.
  20. Have you called them up? I hope they will rectify the problem or exchange the pieces for you. The 2 furniture pieces which I bought from The Green Furnishing are pretty sturdy. My hubby is 100Kg+. The sofa cushion hasn't "sunk" despite of our heavy weight. And part of my Roman Mop broke after I accidentally hit it against the bottom of the sofa; this showed the strength of the sofa material LOL.

  22. What I like about Mega Discount Store is I find their salesman was more knowledgeable about the products as compared to the salesmen whom I came across at other stores. They were also very punctual with their delivery. I'll definitely order big item things from them again. Beside Hitachi washer, the salesman also recommended Sumsung washer to me.
  23. Hi Naveed, I only see your reply today, as I didn't check this thread. Thanks for taking the time to explain. I appreciate it. The email which I received about Bloggers' Rebate Program mentioned about portraying beds.sg in a positive light. Thus it lead me to think that one would only receive the voucher for only positive review. I didn't know that negative review was entitled to the voucher too. I've copied and pasted the email content below for your info. The reason why I did not ask to refund the bedframe was because we would be sleeping on the floor the next day lol (moving in date) if we refunded it. Till now, the pins problem has not been rectified yet. I've pm you my invoice no. Btw I've made total 4 orders with beds.sg. On the scheduled date of fixing the problem, your staff called me to inform me that he could not come to my place because his vehicle broke down. After that, I hear no more news about it.
  24. The living room light is very classy. I like! How much did u pay for it?
  25. They quoted me the product prices as a whole, inclusive of delivery fee.
