  1. I beg to differ. The same lights which I bought for S$12.50 (with GST) from JB are selling for $22 here. Even with installation costs of $5 per point, it'll add up to S$17.50. That's $4.50 savings per point. If you factor in the average of 50 lighting points, that's S$225 savings. Also, you get to top up cheap petrol and food... Hahahaha!
  2. Currently using the LG washer/dryer. So far, it's sufficient for my needs. Only, I try to avoid using high temp for the dryer cos it's a bit difficult to iron after that. Take note that the washing/drying time is a bit lengthy. I usually do the laundry before I go to sleep and by morning, it's ready to be ironed...
  3. Not sure about that but you gotta remember, even though most of the sub-contractors are from JB themselves, the raw materials come from Singapore. Maybe it might be cheaper but getting the materials over from JB may prolong your reno time.
  4. I'm renovating my flat so the fan installation is done by the contractors as part of the electricity package. The normal installation charges is S$40 per fan.
  5. I bought my LG non-inverter at Gain City IMM and when I checked at Gain City Causeway Point, it was $100 pricier.
  6. As you can see, the T4 rail is slightly longer cos it has an integrated tap at the bottom. As for warranty, the shop told me that if there is any problem, bring it back to them & they will rectify it. I know it sounds a bit dubious but they've been selling to S'poreans for ages and stand by their promise. By the way, all my fans and lights went up yesterday and they all work perfectly.
  7. Don't mind me adding in, but I seem to observe that the best place to purchase air-con, aside from those at expo fairs, is at IMM. There's three air-con shops in a row (Best Tech, Gain City & All Best) and all of them seem to want to outdo each other. The prices are not listed & are only available upon asking. Also, they have a tendency to throw in freebies (My bracket came in free). In the end, I settled for the pricier among the three, Gain City, however their reputation speaks wonders. But the price is still better than elsewhere (other Gain City outlets included). Anyway, the trunking came up last week & they did a pretty good job. Though, I have to pay extra $50 for the additional trip when the indoor unit comes up next week.
  8. The top pic is the T4 rails. As you can see, there's a tap at the bottom of the rails, so it's kinda integrated. Kinda cool for me. The bottom pic is the standard T2 rails.
  9. If you've got GPS, perhaps you can try keying in this address for the Tampoi Lighting Centre, No 2,4,6, Jalan Titiwangsa 3/1, Taman Tampoi Indah, 81200, Johor Bahru. I went there last Monday to get the Alpha S100 water heaters with the T4 extended rails. Alpha S100 (with T4 extended rails) = RM420 ($175) Alpha S100 (with normal T2 rails = RM340 ($141)
  10. Hi all, Anyone currently using the Alpha S100 water heaters. I'm interested in getting two for my common & master bedroom toilets but not sure how good they are. They are made in Malaysia but a couple of Jln Besar retailers are aggressively promoting this brand. Aesthetically, they look very good and slim, hence my interest. Any helpful comments is appreciated...
  11. This is the best I can do thus far. For those interested in JB shopping for lightings and fans, this is the most simplified route I can offer on map.
  12. I passed by the Tuas checkpoint and entered the red lane. Showed receipt, paid the tax and went to secondary clearance. Thereafter, the immigration/customs officers just glanced at the items & receipt, and let us pass. That's it. For the lights and fans, so far I haven't installed. Will keep you posted. But anyhow, the shop checked and inspected every single piece of item physically in front of the buyer. With 46 PLC lights, 92 ballasts and 5 fans to check, can you imagine how long it took them?
  13. Kreep, I dropped by the shop earlier today cos I'm getting their Alpha S100 Water Heater. The Alpha V6 is RM 455 (S$189).
  14. Dude, I bought this Baron 2-piece toilet bowl at $128 Baron square basin at $68 ( Able to wall hung or table mount ) Size available in. big square basin: 530mm x 450mm small square basin: 460mm x 460mm They had an advert recently in Renotalk but it was taken down. I bought 3 toilet bowls, 3 basins & 3 taps at $60 each last Sunday. Added soft close covers for the toilet bowls. The address is 780 Upper Serangoon Rd Choon Kim House #01-06. Cheers!!
  15. kreep, they do.... Cannot remember the price though? I went to Tampoi Lighting Centre at Taman Tampoi Indah, which is near Kip Mart. Lots of S'poreans shopping there yesterday. Perhaps you wanna check with them on the price of the Alpha V6.. Their tel no is +607-2418999.
  16. Hi all, For those who are keen on going to our neighbors to get your electrical stuff, here is a preview of what you can get. Unfortunately, this is all that I could fit into my car... Elmark UFO fan with dimmer lights & remote (DMD 5) Elmark 921 fan with remote (EMD 4) Details of the fans can be found on www.elmark.com.sg. The rest are 4 inch PLC lights with two 18W lamps & ballast. The damage? Elmark UFO - RM 285 (S$ 127 after paying GST at Customs Tuas) Elmark 921 - RM 188 (S$83 with GST) PLC lights - RM 28 ($12.30 with GST).. Cheers!
  17. Ahhhh... Mine is the Silver one so it's a bit pricier. Minus the freebies (The 19 inch TV plus $150, both of which are useful to me), the price would be kinda equivalent. Plus, I get a $200 rebate for using my Standard Chartered credit card... So, less heartache for me...
  18. Can get at Poh Seng Hardware at 153 Jln Besar. Prices are very competitive there.
  19. Already got mine from Best Denki at $868. This is the WD14331 without the Tromm logo, which I presume should be the newer batch. Stocker, I've scouted around at neighbourhood stores also. Not much price difference except that you may get some in-house freebies from the big stores as opposed to the smaller retailers.
  20. Hi TS, I'm on a strict budget and my requirements are a large capacity fridge with no frills. I bought the LG GR-B207WVQ yesterday from Mustafa. http://www.lge.com/sg/home-appliance/refri...-GR-B207WVQ.jsp Some retailers are selling it for $1599 for the silver. Best Denki selling it at $1399 with the LG promotion of free 19 inch LCD TV. Got it at $1285 with the free TV plus another $100 NTUC voucher as an in-house promotion from Mustafa.
  21. Hi all, Today, I saw two variations of the 14331, one with the TROMM logo and the other with Inverter imprinted instead. Is there any difference between the two?
  22. Hi all.... Looking to get a washer and dryer in the next few days. Anyone has any idea if the promotion on LG WD4331AD is still on?
  23. Hi Aurola, I just got a quotation from Johnny at Ideal House. With the bundled resale package for kitchen plus 2 toilets, I find it much cheaper than other quotes that I've got. Coupled with their reputation, they are the top candidate for my renovation.
  24. Hi all... Just upgraded to an EM in Woodlands and will be getting the keys to the resale mansionette in Mid Jan 2010. Currently sourcing for an ID and just received a quotation from Roy/Inzen. The masonry prices are ok, only the carpentry works is slightly on the steep side. I'll be asking him if he can revise the carpentry prices. Anyway, I won't be hacking the living/dining room tiles (marble) or the upper floor (parquet). Major works and hacking will be at the kitchen and three toilets. I understand that reliability and good workmanship doesn't come cheap but I don't want to pay too high above market rates and welcome any recommendations. Cheers!
