Common defects to check for in new flats
Mery replied to Kenshin11's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
Buying a house really very headache.Renovation also more headache but since your tiles are white also not bad. I saw some houses with white tiles and look quite nice also. I think its how you decorate your house hee. If you save on tiles then you can focus on other areas to design. Yah I went to see the punggol premium showflat. Got nice parquet flooring for bedrooms and homogenous in living. The bathroom wall tiles has only 1 color which is white. Nice hor? -

Mery replied to Kenshin11's topic in HDB New/Resale Flats, Executive Condominiums
I was wondering if it is the same lady as mine coz she is also ard in her 20s. Mine is a Standard one so have to fork out $$ on tiles Envy you. LoL you are really very adorable. You really scrutinize everything and even went and mopped. I think I will be very tired if I really do it. Really salute u! I change my hinges coz its very rusty. My window hinges also cannot close properly but works fine after they oiled it. So don't worry -
SK too far for me.. Switch from west to north east not easy leh. hee pst welcome to jurong west ! The pioneer mall is now open right? Did you go there? I have not been there yet. Heard there Giant supermarket is down there.

I went to Courts yesterday to check out if they have those fridge that open from the right or left...They say they don't carry this type anymore. Went down to Harvey Norman and the sales person introduced us Bosch fridge. Their fridge door can be fixed to open from the right. Any comments on Bosch?

Hi pst, That HDB lady seems really good and kind. Your house will be defect free! By the way, check whether your gate hinges are rusty too. I have an exec currently under reno in Jurong West too =) Mind letting me know who did you look for? Have yet to scrutinize my whole house properly too. -
Anyone knows which brand of fridge is good? Not looking for those side by side fridge. Just a normal fridge tat is energy saving and keeps food fresh will do. But have one requirement. The fridge door must open from the right meaning the hinges on the left. Tats because my toilet is just on the left of it. Don't want unwanted smell to go into it hehe Got any fridge that can open on both sides? Budget is ard 800-1k.

Which will you choose? I will go for the wireless cable modem coz tat way I can link up my laptop and desktop together for a game session. Plus point is tat router with cable modem does not require login whereelse wireless with ADSL need to. If you are wondering how ADSL uses normal telephone lines (wich are made from copper cables), normal phone lines use around 0-34KHz (speech). Since copper cables bandwidth is 1.1MHz and speech uses the lower frequency, ADSL uses the rest of the bandwidth for transferring data. If I am not wrong..normally 256KB/sec for data upload and 512KB/sec for downloads. That's also why you can use the same wire to talk on the phone and surf the internet at the same time. Also normal dial up modems do not allow that because they tap onto the same amount of bandwidth as speech on the telephone as both are using analog transmission. Thats y 56k is the limit.. ADSL (Asymmetric digital subscriber line) as the name suggest, uses digital transmission.

Aussino got the 400 threadcounts one.Very comfortable neh~ But I got the Sintex bedsheets from a their factory sale. King size 240 threadcounts with some part silk at $60. Another 1 is 280 threadcounts at $90. Separate Sintex king size comforter at $20 and pillow bolster at $5 each. I did not tink abt the carrying home part hee. End up I carried the comforter pack, 2 pillows,1bolster,2 bedsheet sets until I think the passerby on the road only see the white bolsters and pillows walking on the street.

70k renovation including furnitures.. not bad..the house must be renovated really well so you can just move in w/o changing anything rite? marine drive nearer to central also rite -
wow sunsetbay nice info you've got! In that case, there's a limit to the type of pan you can use for induction cooker. Let's say claypot rice. Doesn't look delicious if cooked in a metal pot. Hmm..the steamboat sounds really delicious. Maybe should go there try.
-
sound to me that induction cooking will sound tastier since the heat will be uniform all over the pot and so the bottom wun get chaota as easily as the normal 1

I went to CASA Italy to look at the platform king size bed. It comes with 2 bedside table plus a storage at headboard, foot area and I can slide out the bed n there will be storage underneath. The whole thing cost $1080. Is it expensive or cheap? Which wood is best for bed?
-
izit? for new flat also? just heard the plus pt tat the -hob is cool to touch even when water is boiling in the pot n the pot can reach high temp quickly -no danger of exposed fire or gas leak if you forget to turn off (though your electric bill would do the killing), easy to clean since surface is glass. Disadvantages I heard of are: Not good for chinese style cooking cos you can't control the heat, limited utensils since alloys do not respond well to induction
-
Hi, Anyone have experience in using induction hob? any adv and disad between the normal burner n the induction one?
-
Oh..thanks. Actually I not really into believing it but thought might as well be safe hee
-
Arr..not tempered glass then u must be very careful if not later crack, the whole piece can come off. Dangerous. But the dining table really quite nice. nana1977, Quite near to MRT? Thanks hee. I go down and take a look when I go for my ID appointments. B)

I'm doing my renovation during 7th month. Is it ok as long I do not start work on the 7th month or finish my work during 7th month?
-

nana thanks for sharing. I went down to Picket & Rail yesterday. It is their last day of sale. Their items were very cheap. The dining set with 6 chairs were only $499. I guess there were more items which were already booked. Bought a rotating night lamp(light blue cover) that has sheeps on them(called the Bisbee Lamps at picket and rail website ) and it reflects onto the wall at night. Now I can count sheeps to get to sleep Here's the website that shows the lamp http://www.picketandrail.com/furniture/asslmp.html Nana, Your divider is it like the Tiki Screen? I am looking out for them also. Went to Barang Barang at Marina Sq and took liking to a screen near the entrance. Its around $690. Not sure if it is too expensive. Do you have Teakland address or how to go there?

Maybe try calling the company and check out the rate?
