  1. Our oven is in a tall kitchen unit, next to the larder. We have two large drawers beneath the hob. Is the hob's cable touching the top of the oven? Is there anything the electrician or carpenter can do to keep the cable clear of the heat from the oven?
  2. It's good that you have time. After the hectic period we went through in trying to get the touch-up done, clean, pack, clean, move, unpack etc, I'd recommend to anyone... if you have time, take your time. It's very tiring to do everything back-to-back. Er... isn't yours the Brandt?
  3. Hi Ann, looks like the reno has progressed quite a bit. Cool! Post the rest of the pix when you are able to. I'd love to see how the rest of the place is looking.
  4. Congrats on getting it all done. Do you have time to get some rest to recover from the cleaning before moving in?
  5. Hey Danny, looks you posted that comment while I was typing the other one. I hope you have a good trip to Poland... and don't worry about unpacking while you're away.
  6. Hi Danny, I can sympathise with you... cos we're not done unpacking either! Still a few more boxes to unpack. And... we're not even sure where to put some of the stuff. We'll probably end up selling/giving away some of our stuff.
  7. Hi Coffee, if you can spare the time, go visit the Blum showroom and talk to the folk there. They can advise on kitchen layout (in addition to advising on Blum parts that may be suitable).
  8. I'm amazed you were able to unpack everything in one weekend! Especially with the cleaning and packing that probably took place just before you moved. We found it to be an extremely tiring period. Yes, I have visited it. I feel a bit out of place there, to be frank.
  9. Hi Enrisa, that's about the same time my wife and I moved in as well. It's been two weeks and we're at the tail end of unpacking. Yes, that shop & save is tiny. In our two weeks here, we've been doing our grocery shopping at the NTUC at Tiong Bahru Plaza and the Cold Storage at Anchor Point (a short bus ride away - on 33 or 64)... and once at Carrefour at Plaza Sing. We happened to be at Tiong Bahru Plaza when we noticed that there's a free shuttle bus to Plaza Sing. Sorry to hear about this. I hope they're able to figure out the problem asap and get it sorted.
  10. We've got one of those shallow floor traps in our shower area too. There wasn't originally a floor trap there and we wanted to keep the rest of the bathroom dry (except when we wash the bathroom, of course).
  11. That sounds good. I should try it. I use a pepper mill... and yes, black pepper.
  12. *LOL* I literally laughed out loud and my wife wanted to know why, so I showed her what you said.
  13. I think we'll be baking savoury dishes more often too. Herb-baked potato? Er... I dunno if this qualifies... when I baked a dish for the Christmas gathering at friends' place, I peeled and cut potatoes into large chunks, partially boiled them. Then drizzled some olive oil on a baking pan, tossed the potato chunks in, along with chunks of carrot and a few sprigs of rosemary and thyme (along with some salt and pepper). Then when it was about half done, I added chunks of eggplant and large slices of green and red capsicum and drizzled a little more olive oil over the top and put it back in the oven.
  14. That long!?!?!?!?!? I really hope we can be unpacked and settled in soon. Baking... well, my mum had an oven. But I didn't really use it much. Then last year, my wife and I bought a bread machine... and that's how we started making bread more often than buying it. And when we planned this place, we knew we wanted a proper oven... and I guess that's how I picked it up? I haven't done desserts or anything like that. So far, it's been bread and potato/veggies.
  15. Just Mrs Buzz? Or I presume you mean Mrs Buzz with Mr Buzz?
