  1. Good to know its around 30 mins.. yea! 1 thing for sure is its alot greener in parsir ris compered to town..
  2. supp! yea... my current 3 room is open concept ... whenever my mom cook something... have to retreat into the room .. lol.. i guess when a place is small and your family dont really cook an open concept kitchen does makes sense.. yea.. that is also 1 of the reason that we are trying to justify the glass up and air-cons for the living/dinning area...
  3. Yea... but u know whats really funny? the glass up kitchen wasn't in the original plan! lol.. the plan was for us to have an open concept kitchen with fans in the living and dinning room...BUT! sadly it did not end this way.. So the story goes.... me and my wifey were shopping for our sofa.. and got one that we both like ( one of those full leather with incliner types).. so we are like sitting in it (totally enjoying the sofa) while waiting for sales to prep our paperwork.. then i have to open my fat mouth and say .. " dear, u know what? i would bet 80% of the enjoyment of this sofa comes from the fact that this place is air con. Just imagine we kanna those days that is hot and humid , i doubt the fact we will be enjoy the sofa then, even with the fans at full blast." LOL needless my wife looks at me and say "really? then i guess we have to air con the place and seal up the kitchen" hahaha.. we look at each other and started laughing... 2 days later henry and Hong Tar was laughing to the bank and my wallet is not. Well.. the moral of the story... dont start a BBQ just becos the aluminum foil is cheap. ANYWAY... 1.3k i think its becos of the false pillar and the extra workmanship needed to mount the glass. No worries.. there will be lots of pics when its up. Blade wise.. if its those branded ones.. most likely u just have to re oil the bearings and u are good to go.. if those carefour types then chances are its a goner if u dont use it often We are at st 53 .. blk 500ish
  4. Hi there... how long does it take for you to take MRT from pasir ris to say ... raffles place? 30 mins? I am kinda worried for my mom. cos this move will trouble her the most.. >< .. but at least the chance for her to get a seat is much higher. Yea... looking forward to the park.. with our baby gal just born .. i am already dreaming of thing we can do in pasir ris lol.. talks abt kiasuism..
  5. hi there... isnt west plaza mall and elias closer to st 53 than drive 6? if thats the case.. its time to check it out... Actually the its the cycling culture in pasir ris ( yes yes tampines too.. ) that is pretty attractive to us. Maybe its we come from central , chinatown area in particular ... so u can forget abt going for a cycle around..
  6. Only the study area will be glass up.. I believe henry quoted me 980 for the whole setup. where as the kitchen though not floor to ceiling , it starts from the countertop to ceiling, tat cost us more 1.3k, hopefully it will turn out nice.. will surely take lot of pics when its done. yuck.. hate the mozzies .. i would think tampines is worst! feeling like it in Hong Kong.. people mountain people sea.. lol.. actually wanted to find an unit there.. after looking that just how pack it is .. we decided on pasir ris. Well at least we want to shop can just hop onto the train and shop there then escape back to Pasir Ris .. LOL Actually personally i would think if one wants to have a great cardio work out, roller blading is the way to go. Low impact on the ankles, work ur heart rate up like crazy.
  7. ah.. i guess its for glass works.. we have 2 big area to glass up. kitchen and study. almost from floor to ceiling. Thus the longer wait. The pond smells? hmmm.. maybe i did not go check out those unit over there.. All i heard was with fresh water bodies around chance to have more mozzie.. Downtown east pretty happening le .. went there a few weeks back to walk walk.. pretty pack i would say.. the cinema is pretty good too. U jog huh? then the sport complex will suit u just fine. I am more a cycling person.
  8. Hi there.. i am new to Pasir Ris too! Where side are u from previously? i am from central. As i am at st 53 i dont see any coffeeshops nearby.. its going to be ex if we keep eating at whitesands lol.
  9. Ours too. Minor issues... nothing that he cant rectify. well.. glad to hear that your reno is going smooth as well.. we would say henry is pretty good with his time management. Like you it start to slow down now..as we are in the last phase. Mainly carpentry and glass works as major jobs left. Actually we are pretty surprise that we didnt need to push him at all.. my last reno was a nightmare. lol As both me and wifey is bz working we only have time to check the works on sat and sun , it works out good. Your unit is pretty near the pond right? i guess like us.. u are pretty hype up with the up coming sport complex. Swimming pools and all.. cant wait.
  10. LOL... Hihi nice!! My 1st time in the east.. been a West/Central people for all my life.. I love the fact that the parks and seaside is nearby. Ur reno all done? if so hope u had a good time with Henry. Cheers! ben
  11. hihi .. your progress is looking good indeed! wow.. the marble tiles does looks very nice!! wish we have the budget for it.. more pics ya
  12. Hi there! 1st u can check if ur block is already on an upgraded Electrical Loading.. go to this webby and punch in ur postal code.. https://www.hdb.gov.sg/bn25/isos119p.nsf/Search?OpenForm If yes.. Great! u can fit 2 compressors. If no.. i believe you still can call the Pasir Ris HDB branch office for help (i might be wrong here) . As for approvals.. Hong Tar only submit 1 Compressor for approval. Due to the fact that we already have a existing Air Con Ledge. So we only need to install a new air con bracket in the next bedroom ( this is the one that need to submit installation report, done by Hong Tar ). If u are worried b4 u check for webby.. just go to your block and look if any of your neighbors have 2 compressor outside their units.. if u seen 1 have it.. 99% u can have 2 compressor. But for best result just call the Pasir Ris Branch office.. they will give u a firm yes or no answer.. so at least u will feel more assured. good luck!
  13. Hi hi! yea she is really cute.. congratz in advance! do try to get lots of rest now.. u and u mate will sure need it when she arrives.. can be so tiring.. thank god for my MIL .. Yea reno wise .. its pretty smooth and progressing nicely.. i guess we go lucky and got a good contractor.. (thanks henry! ) Yea.. the reason for more space (we are currently in a 3 room flat) is the fact that my wifey is not intending to stop at 1 kid .. Thank you for all the kind words.. i hope ur reno will be done swee swee too!
  14. Our dinning area wall. a basic black flooring and white walls color scheme Our living with false ceiling up a look where our feature wall tv area will be... if u notice. Our MBR is a bit darker white. And our baby is light pink. Both of the colors are very very light. End up still looking kinda white-ish lol Thats every much abt it.. will post more when the carpentry is in.. Hopefully they will be good! fingers crossed.
  15. Week 6 Hi all.. the end is in sight! we reckon that we are at 85% done... whats left. 1) carpentry works 2) glass/mirror works 3) lighting 4) air cons (Blowers & Compressor) + Ceiling fan installations 5) Room Doors Just got inform by Henry that next week the electrician will start installing the lights. And i already got the Hong Tar (Air Con) and Elmark (Fans) to come install the rest this coming Sat. For this week. Painting and False ceilings are up! swee swee. Our Metal gate is up too together with the common toilet's bi folding door. Here are some of the pics for this week. Our simplistic metal gate. Our Bi fold door for the common toilet Top and bottom track.. very smooth action A shot from inside.
  16. the open net riser box just outside our house. Notice the white pipe. Thats done by the electrician. lol not sure if its legal or not. this is the Elmark fan bracket. 1 in the dining and 1 in the living. A view of our kitchen. Ah.. an interesting note.. we got the electrician to lay the lan cables thur out the house for us. (Cat6) we have 2 lines from kitchen to our MBR ( this is for the open net as its the shortest path from the opening to the kitchen. Thus reducing chance of the open net guys to screw up my false ceiling.) And 2 lines is for redundancy. From the MBR we have 2 lines to the study, 2 to the living room TV area and 1 to our baby's room. All in all he charge us 150 for the labor. Ex or not.. i am not sure. but all the trunking is nicely laid. Sorry if i seems to be constantly praising Henry. Renowise i have done it once b4 this. And so far it have been a good experience compared to my last. And I guess we are easy to please. Till next week! peace!
  17. Our MBR toilet looks like a mirror image expect the wall colors. a close up of the basin. The height of the basin was recommended by Henry's plumber. Initially we wanted it mounted a bit lower. Looks like he is right.. it does looks nicer. lol A shot of our leaky toilet bowl. Waiting for monday to get them replaced. Our DB box. just next to our main door. Sadly cant be mounted higher. becos of the false ceiling. Our water pipe and if u notice a white piping. That is for the open net people to pull the fiber optics in. I told the electrician that i need a entrance for the open net and he drill an opening to the openet riser box just outside our house lol.
  18. WEEK 5 for week 4-5 nothing major happen... but alot of small items being added.. Monday - tuesday Hong Tar people came to route the trunking , up the 2nd compressor bracket and remove the old compressor.. i have posted abt it in the earlier post. Elmark people swing by on wed to put up the 2 fan bracket. Also, this week we took delivery of our lights from Lightings.com.sg and our toiletry from Song Cho . Both company delivered on time and correctly. With the lights delivered and the fan bracket installed it allows my false ceiling to go ahead in week 6. This week also seen our Basin/Shower mixers/Hand spray and our Joven Heater been installed. All done nicely. The rewiring (electrical) of the whole house is also done. Very nice indeed. Farther citigas people came by to run the gas pipe for Dryer and Hod. Nicely done too.. Sadly the 2 toilet bowls delivered to us last week was found leaking. But Heritage's responds was fast. They got the manufacturer to contact me the very next day and a date was set to replace the leaky ones. (Friday found the leak, Sat confirmed that they will come by on coming monday to replace it.) Oh.. Also done was our KDK toilet ventilation fans by Central Aluminum( Jasmine@ 63683313). It cost us $550. For the common toilet the originally its a full piece window. This was change to a 2 panel window 1 with the fan the other with a top mount folding window. The MBR was already 2 panel thus one 1 side was remove to attach the fan. All in all.. thanks to renotalk again (found this company from this forum) we got what we wanted done. And done nicely too. Do note that $550 includes Central Aluminum applying HDB permit for the installation. Enff talk.. here is some photos for your viewing pleasure. Living room wiring . If i can remember correctly we have 16 lighting pts in this area. Our common toilet with our basin, mixers and also a shot of the vent fan. Our basin with our grohe mixer. Got them during the Grohe sales last year sept lol. a close up shot of the basin mixer Our Joven heater installed in our common bath.
  19. Hi Hi... yea! we were surprise too when she was been delivered with so much hair.. Well for tiles .. we kinda have no choice which company... (i think its just becos i did not ask henry ). We were told to go to hafary to chose our tiles by henry . When there.. and this sale person calvin was very good. Patient, understanding and full of good advice.. in fact our MBR toilet floor and wall tiles were his recommendation. Pretty happy with his service. In regards to the basin.. we got it from Heritage. The basin we got it as a basin + 1 piece toilet bowl combo = 399 . They have 3 combo 199,298 and 398. The thing with heritage is that they have quite alot of items on display. Their service is pretty good. price wise we believe summer trading is cheaper but they have lesser stuff on display, most of it can be browse thur catalog and service is pretty good too. Hope it helps.
  20. thanks so much! now then i understand the phase "baby is such a nice way to start a person" lol
  21. Hihi... she sure is.. until she starts to cry.. add oil!
  22. Hihi... nice! its from Hafary too ya? They have a granite one too.. but too ex.. 14 dollars lol.. just have to beware of the colours of of your wall.. and you will be fine..
