  1. I dodn't know that have to move from old house to new house. Currently, I am staying in rental flat, do I have to do that too?
  2. Wow ... very nice house. Congrats for our new house.
  3. I also found it at a shop behind Kovan Heartland mall.
  4. The 3D drawing for the study table for your eldest daughter is the reason why I don't "trust" designer. The 3D loosk nice but it's not practical and ergonomic because there is not enough depth. As you can see from the 3D, the depth is just nice for the laptop. Imagine you are typing with your arms hanging, it would be very tiring.
  5. Are you saying now it's a defect in Mitsubishi Starmex? If the aircon fan is lowered, why it would cause the trunking to be wet? weird.
  6. I think your current kitchen is "hanging" does not have any base. So, if you want you can request your new kitchen cabinet to have the sampe "hanging" concept. Otherwise, standard cabinet would need a base (that you don't have for now).
  7. Exactly my sentiment. Just keep saying that X is bad without explaning the problem, situation and approach is so unfair. Granted that GC might not be the best provider but they are still one of the better ones. By giving an unfair comment, people could be misled.
  8. You need to tell your ID/carpenter anyway. You need to tell them that you would provide the blum hinges so they won't quote your extra for it. But I think, since the blum hinges are only around $2/3, they should be able to absorb it or you only pay nominal amount to your ID/carpenter. FYI, I ask for anti-slam/soft-closing mechanism for my cabinets. The difference was around $100 ~~
  9. I just checked the xtremeplace.com, it seems the latest MO for MONOPRICE HDMI is postponed ?
  10. Safest way is to ask your carpenter the exact item or size. Or you hop to Blum distributor.
  11. What about Sengkang 4-rm ? I believe in average Punggol > Sengkang. So, might as well take Sengkang because the area is livelier than Punggol. Why Punggol/Sengkang over Sembawang? Because the NEL. With NEL, you can reach town (dhobby ghaut/city hall) much faster.
  12. The ugly aircon trunking Due to the recommendation of FSM, the aircon locations make the life of GC men difficult. Although, when I knew the aircon location, I realized it's actually the best location for every aircon in the room, example: in the bedroom, the aircon won't blow directly to you. Hence, I insist on having the aircon on those locations. Initially the were not receptive because the amount of troubles. And they also worry that putting the aircon on those locations will make the house "ugly" because of the trunkings that have to go around. Initially, they even want to tear down my old wardrobe to put the aircon in the living room. I was ready to give up, but finally they have another solution with the truning showing up in the living room. I took this route. Hopefully, I could have some ideas to "hide" those ugly trunkings. Behold ... the ugly trunkings.
  13. 29 march 2010 The new living room before the electrical works. The new dining room before the electrical works.
  14. If you bring this to the public, I think the someone from HDB would apologize to you for this mishap. It happens few months back where the civil service gave out the phone number and ask them to settle themselves instead of act as a mediator.
  15. Congrats for the start of your reno. From our reno experience so far, Lina is quite good. I agree that her quotation might not be the cheapest. However, it's a give and take process. She needs to earn her bread also. If her quotation is very cheap but actually she (and/or her sub-contractors) cut corners in the reno process, who will lose out? So far, her wor is quite good. Tomorrow the carpentry will come to install. I am crossing my fingers ....
  16. Oops ... I hope she has sent it to you. I know that she was sick last week (apparently, I called her in morning when she was still asleep)
  17. Care to elaborate more? I just purchased and installed aircon from GC. Their service might not be the best but still acceptable.
  18. Yeah, of course my contractor who did it I did not tilt the gate, i think that one is more tricky and might cost more, so we didn't do it.
  19. So far no updates from you, how are things? For us, it's moving smoothly. ETA is less than 14 days
  20. We actually hack away the old door frame and add a new frame to tilt it.
  21. We bought a WM + Fridge from Best Denki. Fridge - because we get an $200 voucher from NTUC if we bought with OCBC-Best Denki Card. That's a big "discount". Who will not use NTUC voucher anyway? Beside the price is "only" $50 more expensive than goh ah bee. If we calculate with the voucher, it's the cheapest in whole singapore. WM - It's $50 more expensive than Goh Ah Be but we do get $50 Takashimaya voucher. And, we might as well combine it to save the hassle of coordinating the delivery + installation.
  22. I believe the Philips TV (I assume full-hd) is a promotion from the IT show before. I saw this at best denki before.
  23. Yeah, you're right. Because the "black" door was dismantled and lean on the wall. I think the partition is correct, at least when we did a site visit, it doesn't occur to us to be odd.
  24. You can find many good contractors here like Henry from ID Note although he's super busy. Otherwise, you can try my contractor. She's quite reliable and doing a good job (you can read more from my blog, the link in my signature).
  25. Well ... i got my aircon during the expo promotion. We never bother to check at other gaincity because too many things to handle, so rather to just go with what's there. And luckily that's a good thing for us. After our purchase, we changed our mind 2x regarding the air-con setup, so having the outlet is near to our place is helpful. We just go back there and change the purchase. It's also easier if you need to go to the outlet to give pressure to the sales-rep for any issues u might encounter. For us, we pressurize them to have early installation date. Three weeks are definitely way too long.
