Hello, I'm looking to engage contractor for these services at Chai Chee, corridor 3-room HDB. 1) Tilt the main-door and frame for small degree (8 degree) 2) Install /mount blind or shade at the corridor, in front of main door. Anyone can advise contractor for this? And is HDB approval required for (1) and (2)?

Obviously, power socket from China is not suitable in Singapore. But how about light switch? I don't see any technical restrictions since we using 220-240V. But is there regulatory restriction to use in Singapore? There are so many nice ones there.Example 1.

I am also still looking for jade mountain. Anyone has recommendation?

It's a sashimi knife .. I guess it's not very common for people. Maybe you can be the first to give feedback
-
Unfortunately, that is only the impression. The knife that comes with bolster/tang might be actually stronger than the forged knife. http://www.cookingforengineers.com/article/130/Knife-Parts
-
Try this place http://www.razorsharp.com.sg/ for sharpening. Or, it's good if you go there before you buy your knives, they have very good range of knives
-
And the rod is not sharpening rod, it's steeling rod. The purpose of the rod is to realign the edges of the knife, it will not sharpen it. To sharpen, u need whetstones or other devices. Everyone have their own choice, I find that having just 2 knives make it easier, specially they are much sharper. In any case, whatever knives u buy, u can bring it to professional to sharpen them. Off-the-shelf knives are not sharpened to optimum at all.
-
I would recommend against buying the whole set of knives as u rarely use them. You can get most jobs done with 2 knives, chef's knife and paring knife. Buy a good quality ones (higher ranger), either from Zwilling. You also can buy the Miyabi range from them, http://www2.zwilling.com/en-US/News-Events--news/Chapter--kapitel/MIYABI-Knives--2664.html. Just 2 knives will do. I tried WMF knives before and don't like the handling.

Scv Point = Open Net?
ngunadi replied to moissanite2's topic in Internet , Digital line, Bandwidth & Network
SCV points is needed for starhub ... and in future, all contents have to be broadcasted equally to all providers. Compare the cost of adding extra SCV point with the trouble u have to gone thru if u have to add this point few years later. (need to run cables, etc.) -
Wow ... what if you try unraid? the cost might be the same.

After seeing your post, I think I should just go for Synology ... Feel have quite enough of geekiness in work to do another round of it at home.

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/1131904/1/.html "Then there are all kinds of HDB rules that prevent them from renting. The rules are not frivolous. "The problem HDB faces is that they are just short of rental flats. It's quite clear in my mind -- we need to ramp up the building of rental flats as quickly as we can. Not just by a few thousands; actually we need to (increase) by tens of thousands. And the earlier the better." To say that HDB should not be for rental ...
-
You keep missing the point... We all agree that HDB should not be used for make profit. However, you need to realize the reality that human need freedom. Of course, there is certain limitation, but does it make sense? Like my 2nd question, I have paid my flat fully, why can't I rent out? What's the logic? As long as I earn profit, I can't do it? Now I ask you ... If there is an old widow with fully paid flat, can she rent it out for survival?
-
If we have so many restrictions, the tendency that it will become "c o m m u n i s t" where everything is being ruled and without freedom. Like Warrior said, the keypoint is to balance both sides. Now, I have paid so much for my flat, and I can't rent out my empty rooms? is it fair? If I have paid my flat fully, it's considered mine (barring it's 99 yrs lease), and I can't rent out my flat? is it fair? Please ponder for it first.

1. So, if the family leaves for 2-3 years, they should sell away the flat, and next time buy again with HIGHER price. If you are them, will you do that? Sell your current flat at 400k and next time u have to buy again for 700k. 2. What is the right-size of flat? A family needs 3 bedroom because they have kids. Now the kids married, they moved away, do they have to sell the house just because of that reason? 3. Yes, there are 2 groups, question what is the percentage of the investors, u cut them away, will the price moderate?
-
Frankly, ridiculous suggestion really. Think for a second. - A PR family bought a house for 5 years. For work reason, they have to be overseas for work. They are not allowed to rent out the flat? - They have a flat with 3 bedroom, they just have to leave 2 bedroom empty although they have difficulty paying the mortgage? The root cause is as mentioned as bepgof, demand/supply problem.

Has anyone tried buying shoes from zippos before?

Prs Not Allowed To Buy Public Housing?
ngunadi replied to bepgof's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
When I was discussing conversion of PR -> Citizen, one question always pops up: Is this a place I want to retire? The truth is that Singapore is a good place to retire. The sad part of it, you need loads of money to retire in Singapore. I speak to many PRs .. many express the desire to convert to citizen. Easily 4-5 ppl want to convert. With the government is becoming strict in terms of immigration, it's yet to be seen whether they would be granted citizenship ... -
Let me put disclaimer, I am a house owner so it's coming from my perspective. In GENERAL, it's expensive. But of course there is exception. And that is where Jaskel can help. On the other hand, there's no harm if you request quotations from several IDs/contractors. From there you can get a rough feeling whether this particular ID charge you expensive or not.

Most probably a rip-off. $3000 hacking can hack whole house. $1600 for "Make Good Hacked Wall Area(s) & Plaster Smooth" -> this is usually not quoted at all $600 for cement base ?? cement made of marble ah? "Supply & Install Breakfast Table as per Design Proposed 5 ft run 1,000.00Supply & Install Solid Surface Top for Breakfast Table Top 8 ft run 720.00" Do you really have 2 breakfast table or they double quote you? You are doing the whole house, what is the need for "Supply & Laying of Floor Protection w/ Corrugated Paper (Single Layer) 1 area 260.00" ?? Corrugated paper also want to quote until $250. I know ppl want to earn $$, but this is just go out all the way too rip ppl off.
