Hi, there. My mother in law's flat is at Ang Mo Kio older estate. About 30 years old. Recently we notice that the sewage piping(near the ceiling) in her kitchen, is turning into black colour(like a black ring). It looks dirty and we were afraid of leaking. So we called HDB in to advise us what was wrong with that area. HDB came and Town council too. Town council said they charged $300 to change the pipe in 2 hours. I asked for their ID for Town Council and the man got angry and said that he didn't like people asked him this question. It's pissed me off too. May I know, if anyone, got a good Plumber contact to share so that we can engage one our own. After changing the piping, we need to paint the ceiling etc too. Thanks for your help.

I actually pm mrschan the contact, now I don't have it readily available. The solution was not from home fix or self fix. The agent who sold the solution(he knocked at out door), demostrated the cleaning steps how to remove the dirty layers from the tiles, then remove the grout dirt. I would say the tiles look like 85% cleaner than before. We were very convinced, therefore we bought the solution from them. From here, we learnt that, we shouldn't use any floor detergent to clean our homogeneous floor. The agent recommended us to use clean water only or occasionally with Dettol. He explained that the other floor detergent is just like adding a layer of dirt, rather than cleaning. The water mark, cannot be removed. We tried using the solution - still cannot. If you happened to know how to remove water mark, please let me know!!!!

May I know the wall with a big glass panel under the beam, is the wall made of cement or partition?

Has anyone here installed a water pump to pump out water for the air con? Please share with me the disadvantage.

Hi there. Due to some constraint, my 120sqf study room cannot be installed with an air con due to our rooms have too many beam. Even if we insist, we have to hack down a bay window cabinet and run a long distance for piping. So we are thinking to get a portable air con. Need advise which brand to go for & where to get? You can take this as an estimation. I wanted to build a half wall half glass type of study room. So I got this half wall quote from the ID. To supply labour & material to build L3400*1200mm (11.15ft * 3.93ft) half wall c/w sand & cement & hollow block S$600. If full wall, I guess easily should be S$1200? In fact, the ID will advise me full wall quote next week and I can share with you again. Think contractor price should be lower than S$1200 for a wall. Hope this help a little.

Do you know the normal rate? Is it a must to hack the toilet floor + beyond certain height of the toilet wall tiles, if change a new tiles? Appreciate your sharing.

To supply & install (L3400mm*Ht900mm equals to 11.15ft*2.95ft) frosted glass wall c/w frameless glass door 10mm thick clear mix with frosted glass 2 fix panel & 1 swing door at study area S$2200 Is it calculated S$2200/11.15ft, so the psf is S$197psf? Please advise. Is it expensive? Do you know the market rate for clear glass? 2. To supply & install (L1500mm*Ht1800mm) showerscreen c/w clear tempered glass 1 swing & 1 fix panel at MBR? We haven't negotiate the price with our ID. We shortlised him is more his service so far and also for a total package, not just the floor, at the same time, we would like to know how they charge. Thanks all for the ideas.

Frankly, I do not know also. So, trying to ask experiened people in the forum. I guess we engaged an ID in this case ba... I do not know what it covers more that supply and laying the tiles leh. I will ask the ID next time. We are waiting for drawing and requotes, guess I can ask more question then. Thanks all for your ideas.
