I think 8 years old is too young wor.. if she's 11 or older, probably okay. even if she can take care of herself and her younger sister, won't you be worried of strangers following her home? I will worry about her safety more than whether she can take care of herself.

erm, sometimes not only kids spill things wor... but i guess you just have to be extra careful. cos the fabric sofa you looking at sure look plush lor (mean ex).. kekeke.. since you only bake, then don't worry la. it's the oily cooking that will be a problem.

Hey! Your place looks great! Love the spiral staircase too. And the canadian definitely kept your place tidy! I have a fabric sofa for years. the only problem I have is the liquid that spilled onto the sofa.. the removable sofa covers can be washed, but the liquid will seep into the cushion and it's very heartpain... cos we spent quite a bit on the sofa. seriously, food smell is the last thing you should be worried... just use febreeze? you cook a lot?

But the helpful lady still answered to some of our queries anyway. I asked about pyrolytic ovens, which she told me Teka don't sell anymore. Then she said pyrolytic ovens waste energy as it's required to on the oven at very high heat for 1 hour to clean the over. moreover, cleaning is still required even with pyrolytic oven, so she said why waste the money to get them since you still have to clean the ovens. i just want to confirm if she's right. if she is, then i will look for normal ovens. please advise. ------------------------

haha.. yeah, i agree, PT cleaning lady makes magic. I always go home on Monday to see my floors cleaned, toilets washed and clothes ironed.

if you all noticed, for those shopping malls glass doors, there is this metal piece at on the floor, this is what closes the door automatically. if you want your door to close like that, you have to install this mechanism. but for house use, not many people does that, cos that metal piece is not very pretty la. and i think it's gonna cos a lot lor...

what kind of set are you looking for? those bunker sets? with study table below?

does it lock into place? if it doesn't, then probably not much use, cos there will be a day when the kid can pull the blocker down..

make things easier.. tell the husband to give up his CPF share of the house, put this on the divorce papers then sign it. whatever comes after will be under court's order. in your SIL case, she should have a high chance of getting the house. it will only work if the husband is agreeable to this arrangement. All the CPF and whatever proceeds that comes from the sale of the house (in future), will go to the wife. And the husband must be aware and agree with it. why should the wife buy over the house? at market value some more lor. it's gonna be tough for a single mother.
