  1. alamal, yours also 3 rm? Never start a blog? Wanna see how you design
  2. I read from forums, that for size 32" and below, FULL-HD or HD-Ready, naked human eyes cannot differentiate one... Bigger sizes, the resolution and clarity difference more prominent.
  3. alamak, noted! but i just thought those in-built really save space. And dun need additional power also...
  4. Mine is in Clementi. I will be looking out for your renovation pics. Pictures tell a thousand words. Where is yours? Have ou decided on your contractor?
  5. Why not get Samsung or LG? Korea made and assembled. No need worry buying Jap brand and assembled in Thailand or what. Like car. Some people rather buy a korea car than a Toyota assembled in Thailand. I am using Samsung LCD for my PC now.
  6. Dear momo13, Indeed $10 vs few hundreds for a cable, big difference! Anyway HDMI is video and audio combined in a single cable right? So use HDMI neater? I do not know about the version thiny but i vaguely remember the china sale guy told me (and pointed to the sticker) that now is v1.3b. New one.
  7. Ok! Thanks for the info yah. Yes, i saw on Samsung Tv, some got IDTV. Thinking of getting Bravia, but this brand is more expensive that the rest though..
  8. Eh.... i know where you are coming from I think i will get a FULL-HD Tv also... but will be using the old DVD player but i believe no upscaling function la... For now can only watch HD5 from Mediacorp to enjoy the FULL-HD effect right? Need any special decoder box to decode the HD signal?
  9. U got me very excited because my current house still using the old school CRT Tv. BluRay player price has dropped a lot, y don't you get one?
  10. Welcome Feimei, your house layout looks very good to work with. All rooms square shape.
  11. Skymars, where did you get your lightings from? Your living room light looks cool, can change light to suit mood?
  12. Updates... Updates... I just went for HDB first appointment on Thursday. Completion date tentatively on 10 Nov 09. Yeh! I should be deciding on my designer soon within next week. Renovation estimated to start 23 Nov 09. Cos for month of Nov i got reservist.
  13. At least now i am clearer. Cos i got quite a shock when i saw the pricing of Monters cables. Even normal Tv antenna cable also got Monster brand. It is really a pricer to pay...
  14. Eh this one i know, 'i' stands for interlaced and 'p' stands for progressive scan. I think my telcommunication studies during my poly years is hellping me. Haha.
  15. Bro, Love it, your explanation very clear. So am i right to conclude that a HD-Ready Tv can NEVER display/achieve what a FULL-HD Tv can do. Even if i do upscaling also no use. Correct? So even if i have a FULL-HD Tv, but i DO NOT HAVE a BlueRay player, i also cannot achieve a FULL-HD effect. Unless i get a DVD player that can do upscaling, using HDMI cable, then i can get a close to FULL-HD image (still NOT a true blue FULL HD image though).
  16. Hi momo13, So am i right to conclude that, unless i run my cable very long, to reduce signal weakening over long distance, then i use good stuff like Monster brand? If so, how long then is considered long, and i need to pay monster price to get monster brand? I didn't know about this upscaling thingy. What does it do? Only certain players can have this function?
  17. This afternoon i was at Harvey Norman looking at all the LCD Tv, wondering whether to buy HD ready or Full HD. I also catch a salesman to explain to me about using component video, composite and HDMI connections. Is it true that by using a good HDMI cable (Monster brand), a HD-Ready Tv can have a signal close to 1080i (Full HD)? Dunno the salesman got smoke me a not....
  18. Hi Adrian, What i actually mean is that tradditionally, when you wall-mount your tv, the tv console will be directly beneath it right? The Tv console is about 50mm in depth, protruding out from the wall. Opposite the wall mount tv will be my sofa and then coffee table, these also take up space. Thus the remaining space available for walking will be very little, very narrow for comfort. Hence i thought of relocating the tv console to elsewhere so that i can have more walking space (between the sofa and the wall mount tv). So if this is the case, i will need to pre-lay the cables which will be concealed by L-box and false ceilings right? I hope my explanation is clear :-) [Rasp] Regarding the LAN cable drop down from L-box, i consider your point to try run behind doors. Although i use wireless at home, but this LAN connection is for backup, kiasu. Haha.
  19. Yup, some designers i spoke to also recommend this design, but in this case, the tv feature wall will be blocking the wind and light from the windows... my mum says NO. Haiz...
  20. Yes, this is the design that i am talking about. I think the 32 inch tv more suitable due to the short width of the living room. But my main concern is still the tv console 'eating' up the space. :-O
  21. Hi Adrian, What i mean over here is that the Tv console will be away from the Tv, most likely at one corner of the living room. so need to get the contractors to pre-lay the cables right? Cos the cables will be running above false ceiling or L-Box. That include audio and video cable? Yes, i am considering LAN point as well, but the surface run (the points where you drop down from the L-box) trunking is ugly... Still got mio and scv cables, all this i not familiar leh... :-S
  22. Actually i am not really a hi-fi person. At most what i will get are those that we commonly find in Harvey Norman or Best Denki, where we have the DVD player, DVD recorder, and whatever woofer or amplifer that comes with it, and some brands got 2 floor standing speakers (left and right) -- all in a set. a. If this is the case, what cables we possibly will need? b. Also, will there be a problem next time if any of the cables spoil and we need to activate the contractor down again (pay $$) to lay new cables because now the cables are running above ceilings and L-box? c. Maybe i need to purchase own cables because the distance run from the TV console to the wall-mount Tv is too long? (default cable not long enough). My contractor told me cable like HDMI not easy to buy if i need a long one.
  23. Glance thru guy77 t-blog this morning before i hurry off for work. Too many pages. Need time to briefly go thru it again, his also 3rm yah? I think i can only go for a 32 inch LCD Tv. But i really want a bigger size LCD Tv leh... :-(
