  1. Thanks for the lobang! Do they do a good job? And how many days they need to paint a 3-rm? I have to buy my own paint right? And also to supervise that they use the correct colour at the correct place i guess?
  2. i think i saw your Eubiq post. Anyway do you have any idea if i can change the setting on the way i browse this forum? I used to be seeing pages and pages of replies/post. But one fine day when i log in, it shows me the chain of reply instead, and i have to click on the link individually to display the content of each post. Like that very mafan leh... :-p
  3. $2k is alot man... for me i think Eubiq is helpful for areas where potentially u may need lots of powerpoints for many stuffs, for e.g the tv console area... it is neat to have just 1 strip across... but... as long as you are happy and think it is worth it
  4. hihi... i have similar questions running thru' my mind too. Skeptical about overlaying without hacking. Other than the possibility of feeling 'elevated' because you do overlay (for me is tiles over existing tiles for my living room), not sure if there is other side effect, in the years to come (by then usually warranty is over). If you are getting your own tiles, you need to know how many tiles are needed, guess you have to consult your ID. By doing so they may earn less because i think they also mark up a little on the tiles if you get it from them. When they earn less, they may not be happy and they may compromise on quality by using inferior materials on other areas? I dunno..... sometimes i feel this kind of thing we as customers a bit on the losing end. Just some of my thoughts although i also scrutinize a lot on my ID's quotations.
  5. No progress yet, i just came back from reservist, tough! Yr hacking has started?
  6. Hello! Thank for the link, but i am having a difficult time locating the pics. The thread is too long... it is going to take me sometime to locate the pics, if u have direct link to the paricular post with pics will be good, if not i look for it myself :-)
  7. We can change the orientation of the WC? My contractor told me cannot be done because of dunno what reason i forgot...
  8. I will want to see your Eubiq end result. I don't think i have the luxury to use Eubiq solution. Post pics of them when they are done ok?
  9. Second that man.. especially when my age is catching up.... :-p
  10. I am exactly about 1.7m lo... maybe my previous hood protrude out too much tts y always bang against it when i bend my head down while cooking :-p Eubiq charges goes by the length of the stripe right? Have you done any calculation if it is more expensive than using normal sockets? Comes to think of it, using Eubiq at Tv console area is quite good if you have lots of audio visual appliance etc, too many power sockets are ugly and takes up space, although they can be concealed within the furnitures...
  11. Glad that someone thinks the same frequency as me. When i first started out planning, it was "this item cost only $400, its only a fraction of my total renovation cost, its ok". Now? I think what i can buy with $400 if i put the cash on the table.. gosh... i can buy a hod! And i think if i should buy a shoe cabinet off the shelve or pay $200+ more to get a carpenter to do it... I thought of doing my own painting also, cost that is one of the big ticket item on the list, but painting ownself really not easy.. painting the wall is easy, but when it comes to edges around window and door grills for e.g... oh well.... I have been following a few blogs in here, all doing 3 room. What is yr blog link?
  12. Read that inverter aircon is only effective for really high usage of aircon. Not worth paying more for inverter if usage is low. SO this is true?
  13. Err... the height and weight limitation is a new thing to me, thanks for reminding. On second thought, my ID is HDB licensed, i trust they would have taken this into consideration if not they really cannot make it sia! Taking away the hacking cost for living room and kitchen, can save $1,000 over man! And i am trying to squeeze everything i want within $25k budget. Plus $2k for electrical rewiring and $3k for furnitures and appliances, total is about $30k liao... It is quite difficult because 3-room already very small and need a substantial amt. of carpentry work for storage areas and efficient use of space... thus jacking up the cost... My ID ah... i'll see how they perform first.... hehe.. but if my ID is too jialat, i will reveal also, so that ppl in here can take preca
  14. Hehe, i have not gotten my 3D drawing yet, things going a bit slow because of work committment, starting new job next year and i am on reservist next week. Sian! I will post it up when i got them :-) Looking forward to it actually, want to see how good a job they can do on a 3-room flat.
  15. I have chose to hack the existing toilets because they are in really bad condition and i have to hack away the existing WCs as well... so might as well..... Um...
  16. The tiles 'popping up' problem i have read abt it and my ID has highlight to me as well, he said he will bring the tiler to assess the condition of the existing floor and wall tiles before deciding. Water proofing... my ID said no problem cos' he will just lay another 3 more layers of waterproofing before putting on the tiles, so it is like, 3 layers of new water-proofing on top of the existing water-proofing (done some 30 years ago?)
  17. Dear all, I have decided on my ID! But i guess i will only reveal the ID if he/she did a good job... My second appointment is on 10 Nov 09. Getting key soon! Now into finalising the quotation, hope that variation can be minimised after work commenced. Haven been updating for a while due to work commitment etc. Been reading up this forum for more info as well. Have question on flooring matters, like to here opinions from people in here: I decide NOT to do any hacking for living room and kitchen. Just do overlay with another layer of tiles, including wall tiles for kitchen as well. My ID says generally there is no issue with overlay. Like to hear opinions from people in here. Thanks!
  18. Hi Ossify, thanks for the explanation. Just curious how the recycling is being done inside the hood. The oil is being absorbed by a filter inside the hood and oil-free fume is then vented out into kitchen? I notice that that the NL900R depth is 640 according to Fujioh website but our kitchen cabinet is only 600 in depth. So the hood will sort of protrude out a little, not sure if i will bang my head onto it more often, i had this problem in my previous house. :-p But the square design suit me though. Hoods aside, i notice that your 2nd appointment is 2 days after mine. And you are using Eubiq system for your whole house? I have attended a Eubiq presentation previously and i can't visualise how it can be applied in flat.
  19. U made a point actually. My previous house the hood becomes a white elephant for 7 years. But if dun install hood, seems like something is missing right. Haha. And if you just buy the hob alone usually is more ex. Um...
  20. Bro Ossify, care to elaborate a little what is the thing in Fujioh hoods that makes it suitable for HDB flats? When you you say ventilating hoods, do you mean those chimney hoods?
  21. Actually Poh Joo is first on my list leh but after making a turn, Poh Joo caught my eyes first and it was gated up. Haiz. I think i can only go on Saturday liao... :-O
  22. I have actually thought about this matter before but have not yet seek clarification with anyone. Anyway i decide to do some false ceiling with cove lighting to solve this.
  23. Hi all, Like to ask a question on hood. I seldom do heavy cooking that produce lots of smoke. I do not need those chimney style hood right? I know that chimney style hood has higher suction power but i am not sure how to guage. This afternoon i went down to Jalan Besar to go for first round of shortlisting shops. Visited Poh Seng, Hoe Kee, Royal Franco and a few others. Poh Joo is closed on Sunday, so didnt get to see it. Advice on hood selection is appreciated. Thank you!
  24. I think the best setup for me will be to connect wirelessly from laptop to Tv, push the display to Tv, is sufficient liao. Then i surf using a bigger screen. Simple and useful
