  1. My tiling for the toilet is almost done, left the area around the slanted window and the flooring. KDK is the company name and the company has ready permit? I search "KDK ventilator", yield no result... If i got to fork out another $250 just to straighten the window orientation, i am inclined not to do it... it is afterall a toilet... lesson learnt... next time buy resale flat better look at all these man...
  2. If i hack away the window then cannot use already right? Must get new windows? And then the contractor keeps emphasizing that this is govt structure, there is nothing much he can do. Even if hack away window, he also cannot promise that it will be leveled. He can only 'try his best' to salvage the condition. He always say this leh.... :-( What can i do now? For now, he re-cut another 3 tiles to suit the slanted window frames.....
  3. Work is progressing well for you yah Jus curious why have you chosen parquet flooring?
  4. That china man got 2 wives mah.... :-p
  5. This is master bedroom toilet. Haven't really notice any problem yet, maybe because too dark can't see... I decided to use only 1 tone colour, hopefully the toilet will look more spacious... Another picture to show that the toilet window is slanted, structural issue... can remedy a not? Contractor told me cannot remedy as this is govt structural issue... :-(
  6. My first problem come up now. As shown in the following 2 pics: Common toilet window slanted. I think this is structural issue, can remedy? Ceiling also slanted. Seems like to worksmanship also not too good. See below: Before i can highlight to the Contractor, the workers have already use dunno what to seal up the gaps (in between the tiles) already. Is this kind of misalighment acceptable?
  7. Indian PRs are loaded. He will hack down 1 room and errect 3 more toilets and a big big kitchen for him to do his prata business.
  8. Necrosis, can i engage you to paint my house? Haha... You should be an expert after you finished with yours... lol...
  9. If that side of the wall with recess area is subjected to morning or afternoon sun, then it is not good to box it up and store things. Best is just leave it as it is. Your place is so big! Surely no lack of storage space. So leave it empty. At least yr feet can go all the way in if you are standing by the window enjoying the view.
  10. It is nice. So in fact it is a 4 glass panels with 2 sliding, to left side and the other one to right side? Mine is going to be 1 hollow block wall with 2 glass panels. One panel fix and one panel sliding. So the entrance actually is smaller... So i thought of doing both panels sliding... but think a bit more expensive...
  11. Eh, yes! Let me have the contact for the painting please.... thanks :-) i remembered i've got a contact for painting previously from one of the forumers in here also, can't remember who... whoever that guy or girl is, thank you ok :-) But need to make sure they do a good job... reliable, so to speak. You are right about the aircon thing actually, i left that out, but still, me using aircon in living room, rarely also, based on my living style :-) But although the glass panel design is somewhat dated, it still looks good as part of the design :-)
  12. Actually you have 2 options. Take open concept, then invest in a good Hood with powerful suction to suck all the oily fumes while doing heavy cooking. If you are doing kitchen wall tiles then it helps also because easy to wash. I am not using tiles for kitchen walls, just paint over, but i will use those easywash paint, dunno from nippon or dulux lar... will sort it out later.... If not, if you have the money to spend, you can go for those glass panels where by both pieces you can slide it either way and lock them into position when u want to. If you wan open concept for that day, just 'unlock' the panels and slide both pieces all to one side. Cool! Then you got 2/3 width of the whole entrance :-)
  13. Hi momo13, long time didnt talk to you. Yes there will be 2 pieces of glass panels, one of which will be the sliding glass door. But i am actually considering not doing glass panels because this design seems dated and now people mostly go for open concept design. Frankly, at least for me, i know 90% of the time, the sliding door will be opened, to facilitate frequent moving in and out of people. So y am i still installing the glass? Haha! Wondering.....
  14. Hehe... I hope so. I am doing overlaying another layer of tiles for living room, not sure if it will turn out well. But visually, the condition of the existing flooring is quite flat with no bulging, so i hope it is ok.....
  15. Ah.... If i have know this earlier, I would have bought the tiles myself and ask them to charge me labour only..... I got mine at Balestier branch. HAFARY also sell cement? Now i am thinking maybe i should DIY painting or engage free-lancer to do it. ID coy usually charges around $1100 to paint the house. That is quite a neat sum of money... :-p..
  16. Just came back from the work site and took some pictures. Nothing new. All the war-torn views:
  17. Hehe... my contractor brought me there... so i dunno got discount a not :-p but i know i end up choosing tiles which are more expensive than what is quoted to me officially.... The tiles pics that i have uploaded here are cut-out samples. The actual size of the tiles are: My living room homogeneous tiles: 60 x 60 Kitchen and toilet floor tiles: 30 x 30 Toilet wall tiles: 45 x 30 Yeah...
  18. IFC hor... i went there on a weekday, so like ghost town.... but i met a nice sales lady at the topmost floor at King's FUrnishing showroom where she showed me a variety of furnitures. The usual sales talk lo: "if buy more i can work out a better discount for you"... Other than this nothing much really. The furnitures there are way too big for me coz mine is only a 3NG. But if your flat living room is big, can take in bigger designer sofa style, then there is quite a selecton there. But i found a sofa there which can fit into my small living room and sits quite comfortable also. Sales service wise, so far all the showrooms i experienced the same. Except for one where the sales lady is from China..... very forth coming... haha...
  19. The space given to us for Private Message is very smalle only leh, i ams already hitting 90% full liao.... My ID just called me this morning ask me to go down to double confirm with the tiler, which tiles to use for wall and floor for toilets. I think things are moving.... :-) Believe very soon will have pictures liao :-)
  20. Yup, i was busy with other things, so every few nights i log on to have a quick look in the forum but didnt really reply, not so active. Now work has started i suppose there is more updates and pics. I am only hacking the kitchen and 2 toilets, so i guess war zone only for the kitchen and toilet bah... Doing overlay in living and bedrooms. Haven go and see yet, later will go and see :-) I have not even seen my perspective drawing yet because of some issues, my confirmation with the ID is delayed earlier on, so now a bit rush... but the drawings are on the way liao... pray hard man.... wanna move in before CNY....
  21. Yeah, i hope it turns out well. I have chosen relatively lighter shades/colour for flooring and is expecting the kitchen cabinet with darker colour for contrast. Will see what the designer has in store for me I have this dream of having a kitchen with a colour theme of orange or lime green.
  22. Yeah, the lighting condition in Hafary is not too good for tiles selection. I used something to block the ceiling light to look at the actual tile colour... I do not have any other lobang for FSM, less the one u gave me, being occupied with many other stuffs until yesterday when my block leave starts! Later will be going to IFC to see see walk walk. Is your work on schedule? Going to move in soon right?
  23. Hacking works started this morning, chose today because it is auspicious. I also selected my tiles at Hafary yesterday and today. I have actually finished my selection yesterday. Took some samples home. But after i got home i am shocked to find out that the colour of few tiles are not what i desired. I have then came to realise that while i am at the showroom, the ceiling down-light which is yellow/orange in colour affects colour rendering and I perceived the colour wrongly. So i go down again today to re-select. Anyway, here are my tiles, resolution is not good enuff to capture the design of the tiles because i took the pic using PDA camera... Finally, work started!
