  1. Gosh! Your kitchen doesn't look like kitchen. Very new-age. Your hob is on the dining table? And why your kitchen got aircon one?
  2. Hello everyone, As the width of my living room is rather small (according to layout about 3200mm), i find that after putting the sofa, coffee table and with the Tv console protruding out from the wall (about 500mm), there isn't much walking space left. So i thought of putting the TV console to one corner of the room (maybe integrate with shoe rack) while i wall-mount my Tv. But by doing so i need to pre-lay certain cables (video and audios, HDMI etc) which i am not familiar with. Can anyone advise what are the necessary cables that i need to pre-lay?
  3. Bro Ossify, No pics ah? House handled over already ah?
  4. [ossify] My mum will be doing most of the cooking, tradditionally there is a need to adjust the fire big/small during cooking, and i dunno how an induction cooker is going to do that. But an induction cooker looks really cool hehe.. anyway i have just called up citygas, and yes! my block has the piped gas supply, and it cost $220 to run the pipe in :-S [rasp] yr reasons below is valid, the worst that can happen is no gas when you are cooking halfway. I enjoyed the convenience of piped gas for past 2 houses. But during the early years when i am still very young, we are also using LPG before citygas comes about. Still can remember the uncle carrying the tank on his shoulder and come to our place...
  5. Hihi, Welcome Share with us, yr flat type and post as much pics as possible!
  6. Hi Adrian, I believe by now wheni am typing this entry you would have settled in nicely. Haha. I do agree moving house can be a nightmare. I threw as much stuff as i could, including some clothings which i donate to salvation army. Trying to off-load as much as i could. But my mum is the one who is the real collector/saver. My new place is on the 8th floor. Lift upgrading in progress. So by the time i move in, i either take lift up to 11th storey and go 3 stories down, or take lift to 6th floor and go 2 stories up. Whichever way is bad. :-S
  7. So does that mean using LPG is cheaper? cos no setup cost... But the tank is so big, waste cabinet space for the tank.... How much is it for one tank of LPG?
  8. actually for my layout, the MBR and common toilet dimension nearly the same. Dunno why MBR toilet looks so cramp... also too bad the position of the WC cannot change... What brand of cooker and hob u use? Especially for the hob, i dunno how to choose. I have one at my present home now, but its a white elephant because i think not enuff power... so just cook like that... but we seldom deep fry stuff though...
  9. Hi Natgw, I got a 3-rm as well. Is wondering how i should do up the toilet. Do you have shower, basin and WC all inside the toilet? Looks a bit cramp...
  10. Congrats on your moving in! Before u officially shift in, throw a few pineapple into your house first. U supersticious a not? haha.
  11. I have worked with Singtel before, not in personal capacity but during my course of work. Their so called 'zoning' thing is really a pain in the axx sometimes. Make project implementation very mafan! But it is good that you got the fee waived. Singtel, quite mind blogging sometimes....
  12. Pomme, i dun stay alone, so have to retain the other bedroom. Anyway hor, i intend to hack the living rm and kitchen doorway liao, already worried HDB not approve.
  13. I have another question. How much is it to install the piped gas from government? Current the previous owner is using "tank" style. I feel that it is very dangerous leh, easily explode.....
  14. [newnyew] This is the period which i need $$ most, so.... hahaha.... :-P anyway hor, i try search for the clock, now doing packing, whole house in a mess, although my next house not ready yet, i have to move out of my current place in a few days time and shift to my rental place... really a hassle and $$ fly away to rental and storage place to store my barabg barang for 4 months... [coffee_o and Supersimon] i initially thought 1 box is for Tv and 1 is for radio :-p The box is big and ugly, when i first saw it i also wonder why would anyone install the SCV point so high.. well, maybe their Tv is high up on a shelve or something... I have to relocate it anyway... um.... [blackcar] u teasing me ah hahaha. For a moment i wonder why you are asking me if i want your walk-in wardrobe...ggrrrrr...
  15. Converting from squatting to sitting bowl should not cost more than $300, based on the quotations i received so far :-)
  16. Hi Pomme, your design very nice! 2 person stay, 1 big bedroom damm shiork, can even afford a walk-in wardrobre....
  17. Here are the SCV points in master bedroom and the guest bedroom. One has 1 box and the other one has 2 boxes. Anyone know why like that? Master bedroom: Guest bedrooms: the 2 white boxes are the SCV points...
  18. I am beginning to like this forum, lotsa support, comments and advice. I try to collate all my responses to all into one reply. [momo13] Ok, i will update again on this issue. For me, the previous owner has already installed SCV points in all the 2 bedrooms, but i dunno if it is still functioning properly. Yes, my contractor actually told me he can do it for me, but i think signal strength wise he can't be sure though... [coffee-o] If this is true, then i am not much worry coz i only have a living room and 2 bedrooms. Total max is 3 SCV points only. [blackcar] Those stuffs that you mentioned can be dismantled and reassembled mah? Except for the study table set, curious what is it, how come it is at the kitchen. I am actually renting a room for few months first because my new home cannot be ready on time. I haven even go for my first appointment yet. Although i have rented a storage area elsewhere to store my barang barang for these few months, i think it will not be wise to putrchase things now... [rdnest] Thank you for your well wishes [Pinklady] Hehe. Your house finished reno le? [newnyew] Wah, can't miss your reply cos yr fonts is purple. I try look for it in the storeroom. I am in fact doing packing now. If this is antique, i am going to charge a high price. [Pomme] Hee, i think it is never too late ah. The info will always be here Anyway i think Singaporean very difficult to satisfy. Weather too hot, nua at home. Rainy weather, sleep at home. Lucky rain or shine, u no need to work now. [adrian_john] dunno leh, one of the designer whom i spoke to said mine is a pre-fab flat, so approval to hack is 50-50 chance. Sian le, if cannot hack hor, the design of the whole house all screw up liao... Understand about the flushing of the wall to the tall cabinet. I am thinking if i should do tall cabinet. Whats the benefit? if i do not have an oven, i can just place my microwave on the cabinet worktop? The SCV points.... mentioned earlier, the previous owner already installed SCV points in all bedrooms + living room. If these 3 points had been installed by SCV guys, the SCV guys could have draw the signal from the central riser isn't it? So just have to make sure after shifting the points, the points are terminated properly... ? But looks very old and in bad shape.
  19. Does anyone know whether is it a must to get Singtel to do the telephone point and starhub to do the SCV/Tv points? Can my contractors do it? I read somewhere, it says that by getting Starhub to do the SCV points, Starhub technicians has the tools to test the strength of the signal and all that. Wherea asking my contractor to do it, there is no mean to check. Advice pls!!
  20. the green wall hor... i dunno la... maybe he has painted the wall with another colour le Frankly, i have never assessed mocca.com, dun like it
  21. Yo Adrian. Yes, i have seen lotsa ppl breaking down the wall btw living rm and kitchen, but subjected to HDB approval leh... sigh... i hope can hack! I actually stayed in 3-rm for more than a decade before, so the layout is not new to me also. But back then the condition is really original, from HDB. Really want to do something different now to have a fresh start in everything. Including the position and orientation of my furnitures! Thanks for the advice yah! Conceal yr those trunkings and cables.
  22. Hi blackcar, Yes, i have to do a total revamp. The existing condition really *shake head*. Decided to go for a designer for this time, for my reno, if there is even a chance, maybe i 'll try engaging conractors... Got what goodies ah? Decor items is it?
  23. Hi New, Sorry, i abit slow leh haha. Actually i have one more clock even more retro than this, even older design, in the storeroom, i believe still working, runs on electricity one but didnt use it.
  24. Hi Zhiz, You just spoke my mind. Haha. I went thru what u have went thru. But i only talked to about 6 designers. Tired out because still got to work and other commitments. Nevertheless, congrats on yr selection of ID. I have shortlisted 2 designers and making my decision soon. :-)
  25. Hi MTlot, That is really a good price! I am having a 25k budget also but only manage to reno a 3-room. I wanted to run LAN cables also, the trunking will be surface run right? I thought it is going to be quite unsightly. Still considering whether to do it a not...
