  1. hope you checked out what the "extended warranty" covers for read the fine prints! i won't be using much air-con since i have 5 ceiling fans so didn't want to get inverter i will most likely be installing my aircon near the last stage, after my electrical is up. this is so that i can test the aircon and will ensure that minimal "renovation dust" clogging the aircon. after my aircon is up, i will do the flooring and my carpentry. It will be a good idea to discuss with your ID/contractor regarding this. yes i will be using 4ft fluorescent tubes attached to the side of the ceiling (kinda like cove lighting) yes the worktop space is minimal. all my appliances are modular and mobile. the hob you see in the picture is actually not there show you more in 2-3 month's time. as for the area behind the red sofa, i'm leaving it blank. i need some space to complete my 6000pc jigsaw puzzle
  2. Attached is my latest design from floorplanner.com. The circular things on top are alpha v6 white/black ceiling fans.
  3. welcome! your layout is quite similar to mine any thoughts on what kind of reno design you want? going to go for ID or contractor or DIY?
  4. get your quotation from this place. electricpoint.com.sg
  5. sadly your bowl's direction and position cannot be changed otherwise it'll be too cramped. you should consider other options.
  6. Oil is collected in a tray which you wipe away after use. The hood is supposed to be placed 80cm above your hob. Assuming your hob is 90cm, your hood will be 1.7m high. I guess if you are more than 1.7m, you have to be careful But frankly, you shouldn't be standing that close to your food Eubiq will be used in my MBR, TV console area, Dining area and Kitchen. I will still have the normal switches in various places. I guess you'll have to visualise it when I have applied it to my flat then
  7. When I went down to their Tai Seng showroom, there was only 1 salesperson and 1 cashier, very quiet Knowledgeable enough for me, unless you want to talk about technical issues like what's the drop gradient required for 7m of piping I brought my floorplan, he calculated for me the amount of BTU needed for each room, and then we explored the options. I chose Panasonic because it was on promotion price. (that means they're trying to clear stock) All aircons are on 5yr compressor warranty, 1 yr for the CFU+piping so not much difference unless you prefer some design to others. For the same model with default installation, All-best quoted me $1699 and Gain City quoted me $1699 + free $100 NTUC voucher. Natural Cool and Coolserve are the 2 most reputable companies I have seen so far and I really don't mind paying them a premium for peace of mind. I was assigned a installer (name and handphone number) on the spot, was told to arrange a site visit for discussion on the installation roughly 1-2 weeks before actual installation. As for pros and cons of the different brands, they're all the same. Aircon is aircon. Only difference is the technology: inverter and non-inverter. But I guess different people have different requirements of their aircon
  8. went to Natural Cool, bought a non-invertor triple split Panasonic aircon with R22 coolant at $1699 + 150 bracket Panasonic CU-3C20EKH / 3 X CS-C9EKZW CU-3C20EKH (QTY:1 ) Category : System 3 Description : 2.5 hp Condenser Unit Is suitable for HDB : Yes Capacity BTU/hr : 20500 Cooling Kw : 6Kw Power Supply : 230V / 1ph / 50 Hz Running Current : 8.3A Power Consumption : 1.92Kw Dimension : 651H X 893W X 345D Weight : 66Kg Liquid Pipe Size : 6.35mm Gas Pipe Size : 9.52mm Compressor Type : Rotary Refrigerant : R22 CS-C9EKZW (QTY:3 ) Category : Wall Mounted Description : 1 hp Condenser Unit Is suitable for HDB : Yes Capacity BTU/hr : 9210 Power Supply : 240V Running Current : 3.4A Power Consumption : 785W Dimension : 280H X 799W X 183D Weight : 8Kg Control : Wireless Remote Control EER : 11.7
  9. I just obtained some quotations from some glass shops, listed in my T-blog page 2
  10. Congrats on your laminate purchase I wanted Pergo Practiq silver pine at first, but settled for Robina platinum teak
  11. oh i know who's your ID already... basically he charges you for his "creativity" while he gets contractors to do the work. 2nd guy i have met to do this. 1st guy i met who did this, wanted to charge me $4k before even giving me a quotation for my reno.
  12. don't just look at the green ticks. compare the number written below the ticks if you want good quality, go for coolserve.com or naturalcool.com.sg
  13. hehe, what i mean is that if he charges high price, he better give high quality work. otherwise, it's like paying big money for average work
  14. Sun Sun Glass quoted me 7ft x 3ft 8mm (lighter so won't be shaky) wall mounted clear glass door with D handles $400 7ft x 3ft 10mm fixed panel clear glass $225 Comparatively, Sun Sun Glass is cheaper by a lot.
  15. today I happened to walk into a glass shop Ittibaa Glazing Enterprise. was quoted for the following: 7ft x 3ft 8mm (lighter so won't be shaky) wall mounted clear glass door with D handles $780 7ft x 3ft 10mm fixed panel clear glass $315 7ft x 3ft 10mm coloured (spraypainted in any colour and laminated for waterproofing) glass $485 2ft x 5ft 8mm (lighter so won't drop off easily) kitchen backsplash (in any colour) $250 2ft x 8ft 8mm (lighter so won't drop off easily) kitchen backsplash (in any colour) $400 was recommended to have tiles so that they can just glue on the backsplash. otherwise need to use 4 screws w/ covers.
  16. hi, i also just bought a resale 3rm flat and need to completely revamp the place (except for windows and some parts of the bathroom because it was changed 2 years ago in the MUP) so i can say that i am in a similar circumstance. i have been to 10+ IDs, contractors, and decided to DIY. I will just get a wetworks company to do all the wetworks, then get another plumbing and electrical company to do all the plumbing and electricals, then get my furniture from ikea, and DIY the rest as of now, my estimated reno amount is about 30k, including furnishings. can read my t-blog to find out more on what I intend to do with my 3rm flat.
  17. if you pay ID price, you better get ID quality i pay DIY price, we get DIY quality
  18. not sure where your beam is, but maybe you can just flush your wall with partition board/feature wall, and then centre your bed between 2 same-sized side tables.
  19. sorry, i don't know of any place selling this cheap i guess you can look at homefix for the RPP. as for the wires, just secure it to the pole with cable tie or.. if i'm not wrong, you can hide your wires inside the pole. take a look at this http://www.singaporehandyman.com/product/bracket/
  20. if you go there to buy their cheapest item, they will definitely try to persuade you to buy the more expensive items. standard sales tactics, i guess. yes, it's very important if you are looking in the long run.
  21. your child must have been very playful got from audiohouse, 42" (in my sig)
