My compilation of Tile shops and available discounts. Soon Bee Huat: no discount for direct buyers, generally $2.5-3 for china tiles, $5-6 for euro tiles; 50% sale on tiles with limited quantity Hafary: 20% discount for direct buyers. Hup Kiong: 20-30% discount for direct buyers. I want to start a compilation of the rates for experienced tilers and their contacts. Anyone can share with me?

I have a question about tiles. I went to Soon Bee Huat and saw so many tiles. I intend to get 300x300 for my kitchen and toilet floor tiles and 300x600 (1st choice) or 300x300 (2nd choice) for my toilet wall tiles. Now the question is... Expensive tiles or cheap tiles? I see homogenous tiles from Italy/Spain/Portugal selling at about $5-6 psf. I also see homogenous tiles from China selling at about $2.5-3 psf. Which should I get and why? Pricing aside (most likely due to difference in import costs), what's the difference in quality?

I see, I will get them to waive off the GST hopefully some discount on bulk purchase too I won't be using any 2 way switches since my house is so small Great!

think you should measure the distance between the hood and the hob. your hob's not in yet so cannot measure but can estimate. check your hood's minimum and maximum distance from hob, should be provided in the manual. for my chimney hood, the distance is 80cm from hob. my hob is about 95cm so my hood should be at 175cm.

fixed onto cabinets where possible

make sure they have HDB license and you are paying with a cheque payable to their company name. keep a photocopy of the cheque just in case.

if the kitchen wall is lower, then you can shorten the width of the false ceiling on the right side by 10cm or so
-
i think the 2nd option will save you a lot more money and provide the same amount of illumination. but i think you should add 1 more cove light on the right side, above the dining table so that you won't need a standing light at the corner.

scroll all the way to the top of the page, look at the middle right of the screen, click on "Options" and select "Standard"

went to choo chiang www.ccm.sg decided with wife to get this range about $6.50 for 1-gang
-
about your clipsal zencelo, did you get from choo chiang? it's not LED indicator right? 1-gang selling at $6.50 is ok right?

confirmed not enough illumination, even if you use 2xPLC per downlight. if you use this arrangement, one thing is that your sofa and tv console is not centred so it might look weird. another option, is to make a false ceiling that only runs above the sofa. use cove lighting in the same false ceiling to throw light to the tv console on the opposite end. but do take note of the angle of light because you don't want to create glare on your tv. it's unlikely though, unless you sit on the floor i agree too that the hanging light will not be ideal as it fixes your dining area. that's why for my place, i decided to drop the idea of having dining lights. i'll just use alpha v6

went to soon bee huat, saw some 50% off tiles. may go back again to check. wife likes tiles that are $5-6 psf no discounts for direct buyers the Alpha baby fan is for a small space that is about 5m2

hee you should only get it if you need it. if you don't need it, save the $

for my case, laminate on vinyl would be better than laminate on cement as the vinyl is non-porous while the cement screed is porous. vinyl tile is very thin 2mm so won't elevate much. as for number of tiles, just consult the contractor and ask about wastage. i presume they will use the cheapest material they can get anyway so can't get cheaper than that. any thing i should be wary of? eg. fake paint, fake plaster, fake hollow block how much are you spending on rewiring? should be around there thanks!

please do not envy. you can do it too. if in doubt how to do so, you can put your floorplan here or take a picture of your kitchen, i'll advise you. i've been visiting the as-is but so far no klippan covers. anyway mine is leather. kinda weird to put fabric on top

Use a triangular shaped tunnel painted same colour as your wall to conceal it. Why triangle? Less reflection to your eyes compared to square, rectangle, semi-circle. Pointed end facing you of course. Flat end stick onto wall with super glue. Can DIY

floor to ceiling is 2.5m in living room and bedrooms so should be okay. how tall are you? my kitchen floor to ceiling is actually 2.4m so that one i probably will need to reconsider. maybe use an alpha colourful baby fan thanks for replying! ya i also think they just want to earn my money my plumber insist can drill leh... wonder if anyone do before. wait he do halfway say cannot drill, then ask me top up money to extend... i see, ok i will buy direct then. what's the rate for tiling per day? $100-150? I'm only tiling half my kitchen floor, and my extended toilet and bathroom floor and walls. One day can settle?
