plaster yourself = no problem plastering only the part the conduit used to occupy is called "touch up". being charged $950 for this is... makes me feel like DIY

Besglas quoted me 1.2k for my shower enclosure 2.2m length, 2.1m height, 10mm clear tempered with swing door. seems about the same (880/1.5*2.2=1290). Why not you give them a call and ask them for a quote over the phone? Remember to ask for discount

if the wall is uneven, then it's your own fault I suggest you use a level gauge or a string and ball method to ensure your wall is plastered perpendicular. If it's uneven, you can patch it back right? If someone else do, uneven you also can't do anything. you plaster yourself, you save $1000 plus. 2 days enough to plaster whole house with a friend so you can do it over the weekend or take 2 days leave also, you don't have to worry about the subcon given you subquality plaster. 1 to 5 yrs down the road, you can tell yourself that you know the plaster used is good. PS. if you use this plaster, you don't even have to paint! so you save another $1000 plus. Total savings $2000-3000. Only 2 days of work. Worth it? You decide the website claims the following.. NAMI Advantages: 1. Labour /Time Saving: 1. Elimination of sanding or smoothing process. Its micro structure ensures a smooth appearance always, after each application. 2. Fast curing times (approx thirty minutes) allows work continuity without idle time in waiting for first layer to dry. 3. Fast drying times ( approx 6 - 7 hours in room temp of 25 Deg C) depending on weather conditions. 2. Easy Applications: 1. No need to hire experienced plastering workers as an unskilled worker can easily learn the skill. 2. Does not drip or splatter easily. 3. Can be applied in low temperatures (0-5 Deg) conditions. 3. Choice of Colors: * Available in your color of choice with addition of natural color dyes into the compound putty stage. This will eliminate painting. However, if painting is required, it is also feasible and only good quality wall paint is recommended. 4. Economical To Use: * It uses approximately 0.8 kg to 1 kg of compound powder to apply onto a 1 square metre of wall space per coat. However for best results, two coats are often recommended for uneven surfaces. 5. Long Shelf Life: * The average shelf life is 12 months from the date of manufacture in two layered kraft paper bag 20 kg packing. Product must be stored in dry conditions at room temperature. However, it was stored below –5 Degree C conditions with no adverse effect in a Chinese warehouse.

My experience with Ikea is that you have to go to the showroom to inspect the quality. One thing I am glad is that Ikea does not "hide" or "enhance" their products. They assemble it and show you how it will look and feel like so you can "test" if their quality is up to your standard. Eg. before I buy their products, I make sure I take a look at their showroom item and see if it can withstand my "wear and tear" by doing things like opening and closing, checking the edges and joints, scratch test, etc. Some items in the catalog looks really nice and cheap, but when you inspect closer, the workmanship is not there So the things that I finally decide to buy will depend on the quality of it. Expensive need not mean better quality in Ikea. So far, I am considering their FAKTUM kitchen cabinets with DOMJOS double sink and PRAGEL worktop, LILLÅNGEN vanity cabinet/mirror, BESTA tv console and ELGA wardrobes PS. if and when the wood sags, buy new ones and replace

I've been using a PAX with heavy white sliding doors (L1.5m x D0.6m x H2.36m) for about 10 years already, very sturdy (i got them to assemble it for me). accidentally scratched the door with a penknife, but that's about it. After it was assembled, one of the assembly man told me not to move it out of the room (I guess that's because it wouldn't be possible to take it out of the room unless you unassemble it first) Cost me about $900 at that time, inclusive of delivery and installation. my next wardrobe will be the ELGA wardrobe with mirror doors (of course, i will get them to assemble for me) Good thing about PAX, is that there are many "accessories" you can add. I got 2 basket drawers, a few shelves, and a trousers rack. The Elga has only baskets and shelves, so I will just have to make do without the trousers rack

I am thinking of buying a 4-seater black KLIPPAN, their old-school range. good to hear good review about it

Ikea - No Free Deliveries And Added Storage Charges
ossify replied to fatmian's topic in Home Furnishings
Maybe you should have checked with them regarding storage and delivery before making the purchases. This way you can consider if it's worth it to buy now or wait till later when your place is ready. If the sales is really cheap, then you can either wait next year or buy and store in ikea or where you presently stay, but do factor in the moving costs. -

congratulations! what paint/sealer did you use and how much did you spend in total? if possible, share the accessories you bought to help you paint easier?
-
that new product is expensive and is meant for ceilings only it'll be better to make pencil markings on the wall to indicate that it's not yet painted

erm. instead of 900Wx1800L, you can think of it as 1800Wx900L and just fuse 3 piece together. Just nice PS. Ask your contractor to serve your interests instead of trying to earn more money from you.

up till now, i have never heard of people using 8mm. i use 10mm tempered for all my glass panels, sliding door, swing door. floor to ceiling. 8ft high
-
Yep, that looks more like a Besglas bi-fold. Is your design glass door from Besglas too? How much does it cost? I wonder why you didn't use Besglas for your shower screen too.
-
move your console higher, but remove the bottom drawers. put your tv above the console, put your soundbar above your tv and put some drawers above your soundbar.
-
Oh, i thought the one in the pic is from Besglas. That explains it. I guess you bought the higher range digital locks The one that I wanted to buy will cost me $550, before discount. It's YDR2108
