Actually I intend to relocate the MCB to the beam area I see other people doing it too. As for the socket/switches flushed with the wall, I guess you can ask your electrician if they willing to do for you. I'll try to get my electrician to do it too wahahaha I have 3 switches I can embed

oh noes, got chopped. i record down the prices in my handphone so everytime i see cheaper prices, i record down.
-
a bit late, but just want to add a comment. 30x30 tiles are generally cheaper because of larger scale of production

where did you get your accessories from? got lobang must share i still need bidet, wc, shower lever, kitchen tap even if you do move your stuff in... i doubt the reno would be complete. so be prepared to wrap up your delivered items in plastic (2 layers) for dust protection.

just want to update on my electrical/plumbing. confirmed the price at $2900 for electrical + plumbing.

i just print out my space planning with dimensions, then we go on site, do measurements, decide on dimensions there and then. i go everyday to check what's done, any issues i will feedback and rectification will be done the day after. as my 3rm is very small, space planning is extremely important so it has to be detailed. initially wanted 80cm sink in toilet but in the end realised that i can only fit 60cm sink otherwise my kitchen will not have enough space. seems cheapest so far for 9 lights, 5 ceiling fan, 1 db box, 1 scv, 2 internet rj45, 2 phone rj22, 1 aircon 15A, 6 double socket 13A, 1 3-gang, 3 2-gang, 2 1-gang, 2 heater. The 1 3-gang, 1 2-gang, 1 heater switch, and 1 double socket 13A will be concealed in cabinet.

so.. how's the progress after 6 months?
-
The electrical/plumber near my house quoted me $2820 for my electrical and $1100 for my plumbing works The $2100 for electrical and $900 for plumbing is by far the cheapest (cheap and recommended) so far.

my less than 1 month of reno experience seems more accurate than your electrician please read clause 1.2 of this page ask your electrician if he will have PUB testing, he sure say no need ps. PUB testing is to certify that your electrical is installed according to regulations.
-
no need. just go at the end of each day to see the progress. if necessary, go down during lunch time to discuss various issues you want to raise like "i don't want this tiled wall to remain anymore, please grind, screed and plaster smooth" or "my aircon piping needs to go through here, please make a channel for it" i just let them work and check at end of day. they know what needs to be done because they're professionals. please don't get people who do not know how to do reno, it's dangerous and a waste of money. but of course you have to tell them what you want and if anything looks different from your expectations, feedback immediately for rectification. cement takes a few days to dry so the earlier you tell them, the easier it is to rectify.

According to HDB regulations, you cannot conceal sockets or switches plates in the wall. You can only conceal sockets or switches plates inside carpentry. Alternative is to knock a hole into your wall, put carpentry in that hole and conceal sockets there but may be a bit ugly and not sure if hdb officer will accept for confirmed approved method, knock wall down, replace with carpentry (eg. wardrobe/cabinet) and hide the wiring/casing inside. grinding is using an angle cutter to scratch your wall like this (see lines on blue tiles?) screeding is using cement to apply a layer to your grinded tiles, to make smooth (see dark brown patch behind the door frame?) both plaster and cement does not stick to tiles as the tiles are usually too smooth. that's why you need to grind the tiles to increase bonding strength between tiles and cement. plaster bonds to cement very well so if you want to plaster, you need to have a cement surface. tiles only pop when the space it covers is hollow, and there is pressure built-up due to expansion and contraction. in my case, all the tiles were not on hollow spaces so it's okay. usually you find such hollowness in floor tiles when the tiler does shoddy work. too many to hum tum

ahhhh i want a P-trap too! you can have wall-hung WC
-
living room ceiling takes about 1 day, powder costs $9. so it costs $109? but in between applications, the worker does other things while waiting for it to dry.
-
haha sorry i dunno. you see the pics of my kitchen cement screeding. see if there's any difference? the grey version is cheaper than the white version. we bought the grey version because white version out of stock. about $7 difference per packet.

Day 15 3.5 men (one came in PM only) came today, continued with shaping of walls, door shaping, cement screeding of tiled walls and plastering Total cost for the day's work: $350 Hacking 50ft walls and clearing of debris: $1000 Accumulated cost for labour: $3100 (including clearing of debris) Accumulated cost for raw materials: $1338.5 Total reno bill as of now: $5438.5 Was informed that we will be plastering the next few days till the tiles are here on Sat PM, and tiling will start on Sat PM. Arranged to do the aircon trunking next Mon, and hope to do the electrical and plumbing next week too. Will have to install the glass next week too. Met the laminate lady today, calculated floor space, was told that exact dimensions will be taken during laying. Laying will be done after all works are done, before carpentry is up. We will be using metal strips to separate mbr and mbr bathroom, dining area and kitchen. Also got a electrical/plumber near my house to quote me for my electrical/plumbing works. Was informed by first electrician that materials would cost about $1000. Wow. Maybe I should go with the 2nd quote of $2100 then.
