  1. ya, can save at least $8k if you bypass contractor, and yet have better materials
  2. welcome to RT my entire house reno costs about 15k, yours is a bit high
  3. is this before and after? looks visible, but tolerable
  4. For bi-fold door, Pang Giap has completed it and will install this Wed Got my deposit back from Audiohouse (had to go back to the same store I bought from), the refund was very fast (about 10min). As for the TV, I am interested in getting the following plasma tv Model: Panasonic 42" C10 Price: $664 Place: Best denki Vivocity Freebies: Free wall mount bracket, 10 best voucher with every 500 bucks spent. Warranty: 1 + 2 yrs
  5. somehow the frame doesn't look compatible to the tiles.
  6. it's from korea, instruction manual's in korean too their price fluctuates due to the forex exchange rate. i think i was the last customer to get at $289
  7. my tiles are up, you can see my t-blog
  8. GR link wanted to charge me for delivery (but if you buy more from them, they will have free delivery), so I didn't get from them. Anyway I didn't notice any baron in their shop. I prefer baron I bought a malaysian omni italia tap $39 and a cube shaped stop cock for bidet $10 from them though as for the top-hung bifold doors, I can only give my comments after using it. I guess if the workmanship and sliding mechanism is good, it will not be shaky. It's true that water may splash out at the bottom if you install your door on top of the curb, but I am installing it behind my curb so it's very unlikely even if you intentionally try to splash it out. attached is a pic of my curb, i guess you can visualize the position of my bifold door oh ya, quick update on the sink in my toilet issue, my 1st contractor wanted to charge me $150 to remove the side tile, put the basin in and cut the tile to fit and put it back. but this would lead to a big hole in my wall tiles if for some reason i need to replace my sink. hence my conviction is to either grind it down or get a new sink i'll probably get the 590x460mm sink ($160 from Crizto) instead of the 595x465mm sink ($850 from Vero by Duravit) Crizto Product Name : Crizto Rectangular Artistic Basin With Tap Hole Product Model : CCB-8017-WT Description : Dimension: L590mm X W460mm X H160mm Depth: D105mm Weight: 18Kg Type: Wall Hung Base Type: Flat Vero by Duravit 595 mm 595 x 465 mm 18,400 kg Sanitary ceramics with the special WonderGliss surface finish will remain clean and attractive-looking for a long time to come. That also means that I need to sell off my Poh Joo OEM 600x465mm sink. anybody interested?
  9. WHAT?! just to plaster the edges?!?! if you want to do that, might as well DIY, you don't even need to buy the powder since you only need a cupful. An hour or so to apply, one day to dry, another 10min to touchup, another day to dry. i can give you a cupful. bring a dry container or you can use painter's caulk, it's about $20 or so. easier to apply. but then again, it won't look nice if you just plaster the edges. Your skirting will be affected too btw. personally i would ask them to fix it up for me because they made this problem in the first place. or else, discount the price from the final instalment. how much to discount? ask them quote you for grinding down of this doorway to be flush with the wall
  10. when i applied for mio home, they scheduled my installation a week later. for starhub maxonline, they told me it's next business day. actually i am now wondering why did i have a scv point in my house when i am intending to get mio home in the first place
  11. ask them to grind it down instead of plaster up lah. must be trying to chop your carrot btw, it's cornice powder, about $10 per bag. think you need 1 bag to plaster the whole wall.
  12. i bought the ikea basin for my shower room today already. the poh joo one will have to go to the toilet. i need some help to grind the wall tiles by 2-3mm so that my basin can fit http://www.besttoiletbowl.com/1toiletbowl.php $200 nett is the best price i found, 2nd best price was $199+GST who told you $240 is the best price? everything ordered, except for my pax mirror doors, have to wait till march oh, pang giap could only come later than the time agreed on so i had to postpone their installation date again. 2nd time already
  13. think sanitary items shouldn't be included in any quotations.. because there are cheap and expensive ones. obviously they won't give you expensive ones some taps cost a lot (Hansgrohe) some sinks like Duravit costs more than $1000
  14. take everything with a pinch of salt but i think robina is value for $. i took one wastage plank from the installer after they are done, soak in water 2 days no problem
  15. i am giving fixed panel price as an indication of price since fixed panels should be standard price based on dimensions instead of things like track system, handles, rubber stopper, etc. anyway, mine is sliding door, see my t-blog for pics and info
  16. Day 42 Ikea PAX and BILLY installed today (Friday) Total cost for the day's work: $0 Hacking 50ft walls and clearing of debris: $1000 Accumulated cost for labour: $5500 (including clearing of debris) Accumulated cost for raw materials: $2340.21 Plumbing: $880 (remaining $380) Electrical: $2000 (remaining $500) Shower glassworks: $1050 Total reno bill as of now: $8840.21+880+2000+1050 = $12770.21 shifted my move-in till next Friday due to the following reasons: 1) unavailability of 590mm sink (out of stock) 2) movers truck broke down (seems like a common excuse when they secure higher paying jobs) 3) door works postponed 4) plumbing works postponed just realized that my Billy in my MBR has a concealed switch with a exposed k-box (see above pic). wonder why electrician doesn't want to flush it. most likely going to put my irobot on the far left side of my tv console (under the tv console between the legs) pang giap got back to me saying that my top hung bi-fold door can be done tomorrow, together with my swing door. great door works finally to be done. i still need to go to ikea to order 2x pax mirror doors, 1x elga mirror door, 1x 60cm lillagen sink, 3x 60cm wall cabinet, 8x 30cm doors for wall cabinet, assuming they're in stock. need some opinions. i got a 600x460mm basin from poh joo at $150 which i wanted to use for my toilet but found that it couldn't fit due to bulge at the side. so i was thinking of using it in my mbr, but the 460mm means that my 400mm glass door wouldn't flush with it. also it obstructs my shower entrance which is 800mm, making it 740mm. the ikea 600x410mm basin would be more suitable as it flushes with the glass door and does not obstruct my shower entrance. should i get the ikea 600x410mm basin at $169?
  17. can you elaborate what is X (top up requested), B in terms of A (eg. A+300), and C in terms of A (eg. A+200)? ps. seems like a standard practice to bait and catch
  18. from past history, worst case is 30%
  19. the chart for the past 1 year for STI shows general uptrend. first half was the great uptrend, second half is the milder uptrend. we are now at the 3rd test of the uptrend, 1st test was mid Oct, 2nd test was early Nov, now is 3rd test. if STI goes below 2700 levels, we will be seeing a lot of red.
  20. hehe, i am about 60% short on US markets. waiting for it to go down till end of the year.
  21. maybe, but you think prices only go up ah? never heard of great depression? or asian financial crisis? or global financial crisis?
  22. you trade without looking at march levels ah
  23. some say we'll see march 09 levels within 6 months.
  24. it looks like they are going to increase the MOP. now it's 1-yr so speculation is still possible. probably going to add some rules on rentals too, imho. most likely can't rent out in the first X years after buying.
