  1. Thanks for the info! But seem a bit too ex, so think i will carry on to leave my bike on the floor. Dunno if anyone has any experience with those kind of bike hooks that can just mount on the wall?
  2. hi, nice concept! I'm interested to see how your bicycle is stored. Can you share where you bought the device and the price? And can show a better pic? Thanks!!
  3. congratz on starting your reno! Glad that you decided on Alan also, seems like I was the only one before in RT. I see that your new layout is quite similar to mine so shouldn't be much prob since Alan had done it before. haha.... Btw, was it hard to get Alan to be your contractor? Heard that he was quite busy and was focusing more on commercial reno, so he was getting his staff to handle most of the housing renos.
  4. Btw, anyone has any cleaning tips? I noticed some cobwebs around at the corners of the walls! Yucks! How often do you guys clean the house and what do you use? Feather duster, vacuum or something else?
  5. Thanks for the clarification. We are a young couple, so definitely don't have a lot of $$ in our special accounts and medisave. Even if the extra interest go into the special account, i guess it's still fine. Will try to build up the $$ in the OA first rather than pay off the housing loan then.
  6. congratz! your reno journey is finally over!!! Do post more pictures.
  7. Oh! if the interest rate for first 20k is 3.5%, then i definitely should not pay off the housing loan with the spare cpf $ first! Thanks for that info, i might even change my monthly payment to a lower amount so as to build up the 20k first. Doing some rough calculation, 3.5% x 20k = $700 interest that i will get from CPF annually. 2.6% x 20k = $520 interest that i will pay HDB annually. So that's roughly $180 saving per year. If i pay over 20 years, that will be $3.6k in saving. Ok lah, it's not a gigantic amount but no point wasting it, right? Edit: If it's 2 person's account, then it's $7.2k!
  8. We do have some spare saving in case of emergency. Was thinking that since i can't touch the cpf money, might as well use it to pay off the hdb loan as fast as possible. I think that the hdb loan interest is 0.1% higher than the cpf interest, right? So it prob makes more sense to pay off the hdb loan rather than keep the $$ in cpf. You guys agree?
  9. Wow, very swee! How much did it cost?
  10. hey guys, i have a question to ask: My wife and i are currently paying our HDB housing loan entirely from our CPF contribution. I noticed that we have some spare money in our cpf account because of annual bonus. So is it more worthwhile to use this $$ to reduce our HDB loan or should we keep the money in our CPF accounts to earn interest? Would appreciate any advice! Thks!
  11. Glad that your reno process is over. You are very creative also! Can see where your gal got her artistic gene from.
  12. Congratz that your place is ready. Your sofa looks very nice and comfy! Good job to both you and ossify overall!
  13. hey bro, glad that everything is over for you le. Just relax and enjoy living in your new place!
  14. My gate is from CNS also. Initially wanted to get the $188 gate but was advised by the staff that it is not very secure as it is hollow. So i got the slightly better one at $238 loh. Dunno if it is the same quality as yours, it looks the same from the pic. Just simple horizontal with the bumps loh. But i don't know why they must have the bumps, would like it more if it is just smooth.. But what to do, save $$ mah. Haha...
  15. heya, great to see everything come together into such a nice place! I'm sure it will look very cosy when all your furniture come in.
  16. Hi, have pm-ed you Alan's num. Our tv is mounted on the wall, let me see if i can find any pic of it.
  17. Oops, sorry i missed this.. I'm using the corner to store some big pots that i don't use often... The hinge is different from the usual one as it needs to bend more than usual to open the door... The normal resting position is 90 degrees but the resting position for this hinge is 270 degrees.
  18. Ya, my experience was very bad also... The ah beng salesman just refused to let us go and kept hardselling... At the end, he even tried to get us to just put down a deposit, saying that they can reproduce any sofa outside that we like for 15% cheaper. So dodgy...
  19. Nice!! I would love to sit at the balcony with a book in hand...
  20. That's a good idea. You can do something like a japanese bathtub. Will have enough space to sit down cross-legged, unlike the western style.
  21. After your second appt, they should send you a letter to inform you of the first payment and after that, you have to automatically remember to pay. For my town council, they will charge a penalty for late payment but they waived it the first time cos we didn't know.. Remember to check your new letter box.
  22. My advice is to think which hand you will use to pull the toilet paper and you know....
  23. Perhaps you can get some decals to stick around the TV to reduce the empty space? Then the TV wouldn't appear too small.
