looks good! interesting divider you got there.

To be fair, licensed contractors also have their share of problems. People in the forum choose Jaskel not because his prices are very cheap but because he's very responsible and sincere. Just my 2 cents worth.

Hdb Resale Flat Prices Continue To Rise
coldflamez replied to therat's topic in Housing Rules, Policies and Procedures
I think the increase will still be around 2-3%. That is because even though COV has dropped, people are still paying 20-30k COV. The unchanged fact is still that the supply is less than the demand. -
Congratz and have a well deserved rest!

hi, the platform is fine so far, and we still have plenty of storage space left! Maintenance wise, just a slight issue is that i'll need to use a vacuum cleaner to suck between the gaps as i can't clean it with a cloth. Other than that, there's no other problems. We came up with the design of the house ourselves as we hired him just as a contractor. But we were quite pleasantly surprised when he actually got his staff to produce 3d drawings for us. I'll say that his quotes are quite reasonable, but you''ll need to do your homework too if you wish to negotiate harder to get a good price. (tip: it really pays to build up a gd relationship, as many people in renotalk will tell you. ) We also managed to get some simple stuffs thrown in free along the way, e.g. a small cabinet to hide the db box, manpower to help put up our DIY tv console. Will email you the quote, although some prices might have gone up slightly due to higher manpower cost now.. You can check with advancer also to get feedback on Alan's work.

Wow, very stylo tiles! Looking forward to see the finished effect.

Thank goodness it was rectified, if not really no space to put your appliances... I think that's a common problem. When we want to change a specific item, we tend to assume that using common sense, another part should be modified also. But common sense is not always common....

My Restricted Zone - Under Construction (tampines)
coldflamez replied to Banned's topic in Reno t-Blog Chat
yup, you shouldn't have to pay more for 30x60. it's utimately a matter of whether the tiler is skilled or not. -
lol, big house = big reno bill.
-
I don't know if water will seep inside and i'm not going to try!! lol. Anyway, i normally only drink plain water from my water bottle, so it should be alright lah..

progress seems not bad. The bathroom tile seems ok. don't worry, you wouldn't notice it after some time.

We have laminate flooring in the room, so we are definitely not washing the floor! We just use vacuum cleaner or the magic clean mop to wipe the platform once a week. So far so good.

ok, sent you alan's contact.

Hi, my contractor custom made it for me, think i was quoted 2.4k, which was much cheaper than that quoted by system mind and aussie closet. Will pm you his contact. Are you starting on your reno soon?

Low Wall For L-shape Kitchen Necessary?
coldflamez replied to advancer's topic in Kitchen & Bathroom
yup. actually there is really no need for the low wall. I had low wall for mine as my cabinets are suspended. As for washing machine, i never had any issue with water splashing to the back, so i don't think it will be a huge problem. However, you might want to put up piece of glass or something behind your tap instead to prevent water from splashing onto your washing machine when you are washing dishes. -
On a lighter note, i just got this recently in a garage sale. Ultraman phone! Inside of the phone Actually, i wasn't expecting it to work and just got it as a deco as it's cute. So i was pleasantly suprised when it actually worked! Best of all? I got it for 1 buck, hehe...

Do you guys experience insects coming into the house when fogging of the rubbish chute is done? Even though i tapped the opening of the rubbish chute, quite a num of big ants still got in and i had to hunt them down... yucks!! :fire: Any suggestions how to avoid this?

thks, cranked my head for very long before coming up with the design. Seems that it is becoming more popular to have the wash basin outside the bathroom, lol. Wah, slanted cabinets... that's quite daring, dunno whether will feel unbalanced when standing in your kitchen, haha.... Can't wait to see the finished effect!

Hi, it might be better to pay them gradually in stages rather than 50% straight. That's to safeguard you just in case something happens. Don't need to feel paiseh as it is a common practice.

Nice! The dining table looks great, i really thought it was made of concrete when i saw the pic!

wow, that's eerie, lucky you found out the source. haha.... My place has a similar layout to yours and advancer's too. Haha, seems like we all have similar ideas about combining the 2 rooms and having the wash basin outside of the bathroom. You can see the finished result from my blog. For your kitchen, are your cabinets deliberately slanted as a design?

agree with the rest. Num 2 seems better. The horizontal lines in num 1 might make it less comfortable when watching tv.
