  1. i also like L-sided, hehe. can imagine myself lazing there watching my drama serials and cable tv.
  2. need sunlight to have balcony garden right? don't think i can have any at my place. my parents have chilli, lime leaves (very good to use, just pluck one and wash hands with it aft handling seafood, hands smell lemony) and curry leaves, my fave when frying oat prawns! and ladies.. all these talk made me go find chef michael smith's website, now i'm drooling over the recipes such as baked stuffed potato!
  3. yep! my parents subscribe to it, but i dun get the chance to watch cos the TV is always occupied. seems like i need to get up to speed on all these chefs you all are mentioning. i'm planning to make full use of my kitchen when the house is ready! i have this Morton's Steak Bible, so there's already a group looking forward to steak dinner! yes yes, the host very wayang, esp the part where he just picks up a bell pepper (i think) and munches on it! Can eat raw one arh?
  4. nice pics! the house looks great! hehe. speaking bout cooking shows, i personally loveeeee watching Iron Chef. Its interesting how they can whip up so many dishes using the same ingredients. For me when I cook, if its something new, i like to go online to search those recipe databases and use theirs, cos other users also comment on how they make small changes to the dish. Succeeded so far with a few I've tried, such as cream of mushroom, thai vermicelli with crab in claypot etc. now i'm tempted to buy those burn torches to make creme brulee!
  5. now that u mention it, i vaguely remember some stall like that. cos always walk pass nv pay attention. i'll check it out next week when i go to toa payoh to buy my bro an old-generation hp with no camera to prepare for NS life. wahahaha
  6. wahh... u're like some superhero, mention name and u appear. hehehe. the bookcase we left in a corner, thought we'll fix it up after the reno is over cos the house so dusty now. then our carpenter saw it, and he say he'll do it for us. the next day it was all fixed up! yea!! lucky us. thanks for the tip, i've been googling local websites, can't seem to find any company which does it. i'll wait for the next home fair and pop by then. how's the new house?? waiting for pics!
  7. Part 2... My kitchen entrance bi-fold door up! Common bathroom shower sliding door Common bathroom entrance View of kitchen door & bathroom door Lastly, my gate! Then now i realise.. -_-" no unit number. But i saw Umaisarah's previous home's doorplate, it dangles on a rod, quite cool, maybe might get there. But no urgency now.
  8. Updates! When i went to the place on Sunday, everything was still the same, no new additions. But yesterday afternoon, the carpenter asked me down to discuss some matters, and wahhhh, super shiok to see the doors up along with my wardrobe and feature wall!! IT'S ALL COMING TOGETHER FINALLY!!! My walk in wardrobe, but with cupboard doors. Dressing table still not up. MBR bathroom door Glass panel up, except for the swing door. Seems there might be enough space to put toilet roll holder in between! My simple feature wall with a cabinet opening on the left where wires are. Intend to install OpenNet inside there. dunno can or not. Feature wall laminate is Camomile from EDL. Glass wall for game room, only the first fixed panel is up. Got one more fixed panel and a swing door on the right.
  9. wah this bathtub nice lehhh... too bad my toilet was too small to put in one. btw, my ventilation fan/glass panel haven't put up yet, turns out supposed to be up ytd, but the glass ppl cut wrong size, so they re-doing it.
  10. 1) where did you purchase it? - Everjoint @ AMK 2) how much is the fan and installation chgs? - Got it for $52, no installation charges cos my electrician will be doing it for me. 3) Need to apply permit? - I'm not sure, need to apply one arh? 4) where did you place it, window grill or panel? Possible to take pict and show me? - i'm asking them to replace the window panes with a piece of glass on one side. no pic cos haven't fixed yet. my electrician said it'll be one of the last things installed.
  11. haha, much much cheaper than simple human. thanks for the rec! i'll wait till glass door is up before i decide wat to do.
  12. cos mine ask if still the same company and salary ma. so i told her change company. then niam niam niam. after i cut her nagging off, then she ask me to get letter of proof from the new company stating my start date, position and salary. i think they're more worried abt the amount of money u can loan. cos i'm taking HDB loan. hope u get nice officer ba. or else they'll say, cannot approve until reassess the loan. -_-" maybe if u want to play safe, can ask ur new company's HR to prepare the letter for u. or you already sign the contract, i believe that shld be sufficient as proof. check with ur agent? hmm, if ur sellers are willing, why not? then maybe can do on site measurement early. it won't take a day ma, at most an hour or 2? just explain u want to get ur reno permit prepared so that u can do it asap, ask if they can let u & ur ID/contractor into the house for a while to take measurements.
  13. went to the house yesterday, nothing new to update. maybe they're doing up the wardrobes in their factory before bringing over. hope they can get my feature wall can be up by 19 June, cos my TV delivery is then. doesn't help that my wedding banquet coordinator is giving me headache. stupid irresponsible co-od resigned w/o telling her colleagues to followup on my requests. no wonder prev to her leaving, she takes a week to reply to my simple email requests to meet up with her cos i needed to settle details!!!!
  14. hey hey, thanks!! this doesn't look too bad, i guess this is a cheaper alternative to my expensive simplehuman stuff. can share how much and where did u buy this from? hehe
  15. haha, congrats! ehhh, the HDB officer i had was super grumpy one lor. even my agents thought so. she niam niam niam cos i was in btw jobs, happened that my first appt was the day after my last job and i was starting a new job the following weekend. so was considered unemployed! but is bo bian circumstances. so she kept going abt re-assessing loan blah blah until i shot her down. just make sure u & ur seller dun be late, they very particular abt such stuff. hope u get a nice officer. and have all your documents ready, so when he/she ask, u can just whip it out immediately. be firm in the office if the sellers want to extend beyond the time they're allowed for the 2nd appt. unless u're willing to let them stay longer. HDB will protect ur rights that u must get ur 2nd appt (keys) latest 8 weeks aft the first appt (this is wat i understand), anything longer than that, is an agreement btw seller & u.
  16. coldflamez: haha, no preference leh. my current home is on the left, while the hubby's is on the right. so both ways also can. lilithfiend: don't have lehh... also don't have the kitchen roll holder. the guy say their marina sq branch has the most complete selection for simple human. but he mentioned if really want something they don't have, he can check with the manager if they can bring it in. the toilet roll holder is $139.. hubby literally dragged me away from it. i told him, aiya, just measure first, who knows, maybe cannot fit leh?? wahahaha, so we got the estimate dimensions, waiting for my bathroom glass wall to be up before making any decision. and i saw some other stuff, in case anyone is interested.. tension caddy - $368.00 slim trash can - $45.90 sink caddy (kitchen) - $39.00 they also have the dish racks, cabinet pull-outs, other trashcans and the napkin holder.
  17. mysweetlittlethings: okok, tt wld be great, thanks!! ok i'm going to homefix marina sq later to check out stuff, anyone needs me to find out prices of the droolicious items from simple human?

  19. Furniture HQ@AMK: Pushy and BS Ah Beng salesman. haha, i agree. but my mum die die wanted her sofa for her place. i was so annoyed with the salesman i refused to look at them alr. baaaa. super buay tahan the BS talk they're giving. hommage is not bad, we've had good exp so far, but cannot comment further until we receive our furniture delivery mid-June.
  20. if u have friends working in philips, ask them to help u buy during their half-yearly staff sale. prices are quite good.
  21. wow, yea, i agree, must ask them to pay rent, cos now the utilities bill is under ur name too, right? i changed my lock for the mailbox the same week i got my keys, cos i changed my add and tt means all the govt letters will go there, i felt safer knowing only my hubby & i can access the mailbox.
