  1. Thing is, I'm looking for a fabric sofa. Cellini has quite a lot of leather ones. Not sure if Melandas has a shopfront. A bit concerned about the warranty, if anything goes wrong - dunno who to chase!
  2. Looking for an affordable one in fabric, most likely metal legs. Seen this anywhere?
  3. Oh yes, I was there today too. That's where I saw their stuff. Is Melandas reliable?
  4. I came across this brand Melandas when I was sofa hunting. Saw a sofa that I'm considering. Does anyone know anything about Melandas, or have had experience buying sofa from them? They only give one year warranty, and say that they export internationally. From other forum threads, it seems that Melandas can only be found in Courts last yr because it's concentrating on export markets i.e. Indonesia - is this true? How is the quality of sofas, service and durability? Pls share your experience or thoughts if you have any. Thanks!
  5. Yeah, I'm looking for one like this too! Maybe you can try posting it in the Home Furnishings subforum.

Hi Noel, what's the range of prices for sofas that Om quoted you? you mentioned that it's more affordable. i'm scouting around for a good-priced but well designed sofa myself.

  12. Hmm... I called, and there seems to be some problems. They are closed for the time being. A Massimmo staff says they're not under the same company, just 'affiliated'.
  13. I went down to Boon Lay Tradehub 21 to check out SofaaLab's sofas, but the shop is no longer there. Their website www.sofaalab.com is still up and running, but no one's picking up the phone. Anyone knows what happened to SofaaLab? I also heard people mention that SofaaLab had a recent 'case' last year (sounds like a problem to me), but I have no idea what. Anyone knows about this? Or has anyone encountered problems with this company? Heard this store has the same owner as Massimmo. Not sure if that's true. I'm interested in trying out their sofas, and was quite disappointed since I went all the way to Boon Lay from the north, and the shop's empty.
  14. Thanks gaku. No, unfortunately I do not have a couple of thousand floating around. How much is Harvey Norman selling theirs? Will go Sofa+others to take a look. Too bad they don't have a showroom.
  15. What size/power aircon should I get for my 5-rm living room in Sengkang? What brand would you recommend? It's a 110sqm flat.
  16. ok, thanks. that's close to the one i'm looking for. but i had a horrible experience at this store when I went a few weeks ago. I'd rather not visit it again thanks for the sharp eye, tho!
  17. I'm shopping for either the Philips or Samsung Soundbar home theatre system to go with my 42-inch plasma TV. For my TV, thinking of the Samsung Thing is, I'd love to have the soundbar as an integrated home theatre system, but my TV is NOT wall-mounted, but will be sitting on the console on its stand. How? Will getting the Soundbar block the TV? Will it: 1) look ugly and cluttered? 2) block the remote infra-red receiver on the Samsung plasma TV? Any experience with or thoughts about soundbars and non-wall-mounted TVs, pls share.
  18. I saw these windows that is both sliding and casement. It can be slid to the side, then swung open like casement windows, so that the entire window area is comepletely unblocked. Saw at www.window.sg. Anyone knows what kind of price i'm looking at for a 320-cm long balcony, normal sized windows? Kind of like the one in the pic above. And anyone has recommendations whose services I can get for these windows? Any of you used this for your flat? Pls let me know how the quality is. You can see demo video at: http://www.decorille.com/pro_bestview_func.htm These are called Bestview Windows, according to the website.
  19. People have probably talked about this in snippets of chats. But I'm considering whether or not to get a 3-seater Ikea sofa - it's the Karlstad, Tylosand, Kramfos or the more expensive Stockholm. Considering both fabric and leather covers. Sample pix below. I've been to many sofa stores recently, including Evov, Massimo, Air, XZQT, Lifestorey, Mondi, Furniture Warehouse, stores at IFC et al. Some things to consider, pros and cons: 1) Quality and durability of Ikea sofas have always been debated. They start creaking, start giving way, rusting etc. But they also have 5-yr warranty. The Stockholm has 25 years of warranty. Still, do I want the hassle of changing sofas, calling up Ikea and all, should anything happen? 2) Price. A bit plus point. 3-seater in fabric: Karlstad $549, Tylosand $949, Kramfos $799, Stockholm $2295-2695. In leather, a bit more pricey. 3) Plywood/particleboard has been frowned upon. But lots of China-based manufacturers (I shall not name names here) use plywood, when I asked them about their materials. I've vaguely heard about particleboard gas emissions (?) - anyone heard the same? 4) Stockholm is touted as a high-end, high-quality and long lasting series. BUT i checked their materials. The sofas use plywood etc for the frame (similar to their usual sofas), with the exception of solid oak legs. Is Stockholm worth the money? It's close to $2k+ for a 3.5-seater. 5) Find Ikea's Karlstad especially comfortable. Not the sofa-bed model. After trying out sofas in the above-mentioned stores, though their designs score an A, comfort is lagging quite far behind. Pls add your thoughts! Love to hear from other fellow sofa-hunters. KARLSTAD TYLOSAND KRAMFOS STOCKHOLM
  20. Any tips on whether I should enclose my balcony with windows? It currently just has grilles. I already have full sliding doors separating my living room from my balcony. Would like to add windows to my balcony so that I can extend living room space whenever needed without aircon escaping. Am i able to add windows to existing window grilles? Thinking it would be good to prevent burglary. But having grilles also means the view is slightly blocked, a bit claustrophobic. Having just windows alone seems nice. What do you guys think?
  21. I see... thanks! I'll keep looking. Actually I'm looking for this coffee table as well. seen it anywhere? Looking for egg-shaped marble table-top.
