  1. I am moving into a new condo unit which already has network cabling to all the rooms, with a patch panel in the storeroom. However, I need to move some of the wall points in the rooms to new locations where my PC/device will actually be. My electrician seems very unclear about how he will extend the cables, and I am worried that he might treat the CAT5 cable like any other power point, and just try to twist the wires together, or use a poor connector/cable. Does anyone have any instructions/ website I can pass on to my electrician to do this job properly? I tried searching, but could not find anything suitable.
  2. I am talking about a brand new condo built by Capitaland :-(
  3. I wish developers would stop using homogeneous tiles that need that white gap. It looks awful :-( Why cant they fix those tiles in a seamless fashion like with most other tiles? That gap is a dirt trap, and feels very bad under the foot. Whats worse ... since its not seamless, contractors laying the tiles can get away with poor workmanship, and leave the gaps uneven and the tiles not even level. I have several tiles that feel higher or lower than the other across the gap. Terrible :-(
  4. I am currently working with Shawn at Ideal Design, and am very happy with his knowledge and professionalism so far. No work done yet, so cant comment on the results, but the process of engaging has been pretty good. Strengths are in responsiveness, understanding of needs and responding with solutions that meet the needs. I am currently on a very tight budget, so Shawn has helped me figure out options to get my critical stuff done within the budget. What could be better - carpentry costs seem on the high side to me. Also, it would be nicer if the ID spends a bit more time understanding the client's current setup/ furniture, color/ material preferences upfront, so the proposals are better match with the client's sensibilities. This is not just a comment on Shawn, but on *ALL* IDs I met. They just shoot off the same 'modern' design proposals in their favorite colors (usually black/ dark), even if the client's current setup is completely mismatching. Will post more as the work progresses.
  5. I am also asking my ID to put a stainless steel sheet behind the hob. I agree that too that glass may look nicer, but want to hear what others who have used it have to say.
  6. Thanks for the suggestion swift. Indeed stand alone tubs look great too. We had considered a stand alone options too, but the bath fittings company discouraged us because we wont have enough space around the bath tub to keep the gap between the tub and the walls clean and dry. Our shower cubicle is 1.62m X .77m, with tiled walls on 3 sides. If we put a free standing tub there, there will be a narrow gap between the tub and the 3 walls - which will get very messy - so free standers are not OK.
  7. We just took posession of a new condo unit where the master bath has a long standing shower cabin 162cm X 77cm. We are thinking of installing a bath tub in this space. My ID has quoted a total cost of $1200+ for installing the tub (not including the cost of the tub). This cost includes masonry work, making cement base, and plumbing to connect drain etc. It does not include cost of tiles, changing the mixer etc. I thought this was pretty steep. Anyone else got bath tub installed ... and has inputs?
