A reconstruction project aren't as straightforward as what we have thought it would be. So what exactly do we have to go through? 1. OTP of house 9 Aug 2012 2. Aug 2012 - Application for Copying of Building Plan/Information (BCA) 3. Sep 2012 - Appointment of ID firm - three d conceptwerke. - Unlike others, instead of approaching an architect first, we approach Dess (the principal designer) if he would be keen to do up the place for us. 4. Oct 2012 - Appointment of Architect - Mr. Tay Lim Hai 5. Nov 2012 - Consolidated ideas for the house design communicated to ID & Architect - a prefab steel house! Too bad, our preferred choice of container house was not approved. 6. Nov 2012 - Appointment of registered surveyor to carry out topographical Survey. 7. Dec 2012 to Feb 2013 - Initial proposed house idea communicated by ID - Stilt house / Kampong Style. 8. Mar 2013 - 2nd proposed house idea communicated 9. Apr 2013 - 3rd proposed house idea communicated 10. May 2013 to Aug 2013 - 4th proposed house idea communicated - **something I really like** 11. Aug 2013 - 5th proposed house idea communicated 12. Oct 2013 - Exterior house idea & layout communicated. ** Despite the countless discussions we had, we enjoyed that ideas exchanging process with the little modification leading to a house which is ideal for our daily lifestyle. To be cont'd….. will be sharing more pics later.

Having involved in a landed property project is way too difficult to handle for someone liked me who have zero knowledge about "building". Overwhelmed by all the "alien" terms, I remained as a "silent" listener at most of the meetings & discussions, although I do "pop" a couple of Qs at times when I was awake e.g. "What is that har?" Hopefully, this blog not only allows us to record our reconstruction journey for our children, it can also help those "liked myself" who will appreciate some enlightenment about a landed property project. Thankful to the current team on board! Hubby: as I could not contribute much during this phase ID: Dess of three-d conkeptwerke for working very closely with us, merging ideas and eventually finalizing the design of the house Architect: Mr. Ong of Urban3 Architects - for taking over the project for a dear dear architect friend. / Thanks Gina for all the coordination! Builder: Mr. Ho of Prime Builders & his team - reliable & humble team. This house project is also dedicated to our late ex-Architect Mr. Tay Lim Hai (his last house project).

Hi Drillbit, I am not too sure if a topographical survey is applicable for reconstruction only The Architect needs the TOPO survey to see and study the shape, the size, the landform of the site before we can progress into the design stage. ha... I hope I am on the right track *patiently waiting for the TOPO survey to be done * cheers,

Hi Suyun, How's your renovation coming along? Look forward to seeing your completed reno pics soon Cheers, -
Hi Sunset Way, Congrats to you too!! Saw your blog earlier too - a nice place you have gotten I agree with you - when we brought our families to view our new house, they love it too! A very quiet estate too Currently, there are a couple of houses that are under renovation there. Though left 39 years lease, the place is indeed a hidden gem
