Kronotex Or Supreme For Flooring
smart_user replied to jazzblue's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
Can't agree more with everyone here on lousy Supreme service. And I cant believe that after all these years, they have not improved the service. Someone should really complaint to Consumer Right thingy. 2 years ago when we wanted to sell off our old place, we realised that our flooring profiles delaminated and broke in some areas (the one below bedroom doors to separate the bedroom floor from corridor, etc). I called many times and finally told that the sales guy left already. I raised the need to have the profiles changed with the customer service and they never came despite following up various times! We got so upset that we finally engaged Inovar to do it for us at charge and sold off the place. -
Hi there, I have personally experienced Krono and Inovar in all my previous houses and I have come to the conclusion that manufacturers backed warranty is very important. In fact I also tried Supreme. Supreme sales people didnt bother attending to my complaint while the Kronos boards just couldnt withstand the high humidity of SG weather. The boards all suffered from this buldging issue on the joints and we didnt even do wet mopping. So far I'm still very happy with Inovar and I have recommended many friends who are likewise satisfied with the service and quality of the product. Their promise of super water resistant really holds true. Despite our maid mopping the floor twice/day, the floor still looks good and no sight of damage whatsoever. You can PM me for the detail of the sales person if you want. Just my 2 cents...hope it helps.

Kronotex Or Quickstep Or Evorich Flooring
smart_user replied to qwvsteef's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
What about Inovar Floor? They're the only direct manufacturer and I'm very happy with the product so far. No complaint whatsoever -
Hi Alan, Are you able to ask your friend the brand/company that he used for his bamboo flooring? I still can't make up my mind on whether or not to go ahead with this purchase. Thanks
-
Oh ya...I had a second and third look at the photos again...and I notice that your friend's bamboo flooring is very long. I wonder what the length is....looks like it's more than 1.5 meters. Beautyyyy

Hi alantan, i really like your friend's flooring. It's the same look of flooring that my ID showed me...but are you sure it's the same bamboo flooring I was referring to? Cos my ID told me bamboo flooring needs to use plywood and glue down. I'm really no expert in this. Also do you mind if i ask where your friend got the flooring from and how much? The cost is a bit steep as far as I know...but I really fell in love with it from the 1st look...hehe Appreciate your reply. Thanks

Hi guys, Seems like my endless renovation work is forever there...hehe I've been thinking of overlaying my whole house with solid wooden flooring but I realise that the cost is very high as I like the longer planks (>1.2 meter length/plank). For solid tasmanian oak flooring, my ID was quoting me around $35psf..totally out of my budget and I was told that I must wait for 4 months too as the stocks need to be shipped in from overseas. He also proposed something quite new to me...not the normal bamboo flooring but Strand Woven Bamboo Flooring. It looks really solid...and costs $23psf. Apparently this is the new bamboo flooring which is supposed to be very durable and eco-friendly. I like the length of each plank..i think it was like 1.5meter or so...i can imagine it will look very elegant after installation. My only concern was on the termite attack and the reduction of total height of my floor-to-ceiling height (bamboo needs to use plywood base underneath apparently) I am quite tempted to go ahead with this bamboo option...but appreciate if any members here have experience with such product that you can share with me? I'm afraid of making the wrong decision as the total cost is quite a handful amount here and I'm totally new with this product. Appreciate your comments...thanks

Sorry for disappering for a while...a lot has happened lately with life and work. OK, regarding the leakage issue....finally the MC gave in and took the initiative to fix it for me instead of pushing the above unit to settle it. The $50 from upstairs unit was passed to MC. I also passed $30 as coffee money to the poor workers who spent whole day fixing the above unit pipes from my unit. It was still not the most ideal solution, but one that saved me a lot of trouble.... Bumping into them now in the lift is never the same pleasant experience anymore...I still can't believe how uncooperative they were despite me talking to them nicely.

My previous house was using INOVAR laminates in the kitchen and we kept it for almost 8 years before we sold off our apartment. No issue there...the water resistant property promised by the salesman really lived up to expectation. And yes, I agree with potat0 to use laminate with groove line in the kitchen. It was exactly what we chose and we couldn't tell any swelling at all (if any). The maid mopped the floor quite diligently everyday. Ceramic tiles with woodgrains are nice too, but the feeling is different. Ceramic is ceramic. I guess at the end of the day, it boils down to personal preference

I'm so deeply depressed. The leakage saga is not solved yet. My super brainless neighbour above is willing to compensate $50 only and asked me to top up whatever difference if more than $50, or keep the change if it's less than $50. It was truly an insult and I was left speechless I checked with BCA and BCA suggested I contact STB (Strata Titles Board) who will act as law enforcer The problem is: application thru STB costs $500 and every hearing costs $300. Who's gonna bear this cost? I hv to pay upfront The cost of fixing the leakage from the numerous contractors I have searched so far is around $300 (the cheapest quote to date) I feel so "geram" and helpless. The MC of my condo cant do much...they tried to help me talk to the owner above and again the same answer was given abt the $50 compensation. I feel like choking her to death Any advice? Thanks

Thanks guys.... Btw what is MC? I have tried to contact the unit above...rang the doorbell, knocked on the door, yelled "hello and excuse me" and as expected, nobody came out to answer the door eventhough I could hear the children inside and TV. Hmmm...not a good sign and I'm a new neighbour here

Dear All, I have a problem here...the pipe from unit directly above mine is leaking and causing a stain on my false ceiling. I live in a condo unit. Who is supposed to pay for the repair work? I consulted with the building management and he was telling me that the bill is supposed to be split 50-50% between me and owner of the unit above. Is this a common practice? I heard from some people that if the pipe belongs to other unit and causing damage to your unit, then the other unit's owner must pay up for the repair work. And this is exactly what I did when I stayed at previous condo...I paid up full for the repair work to the unit below me bcos of the waterproofing issue with my bathroom. Appreciate help and enlightenment from members here...thanks

Happy chap here ....i got the deal at $2.70psf nett with skirting & accessories included! Really good bargain. The lowest price was $2.50 but I couldnt find the colour I want. Anyway, compared to the price I paid 3 years ago (around $4)...this is a huge saving. The sale ends tomorrow and is available only at inovar showroom at tagore lane

Speaking of INOVAR FLOOR, I saw their Ad in Zaobao paper today 16 Mar. They're having a warehouse sale today & tomorrow!! Been thinking about overlaying the maid's room and storeroom with laminates as I dont want to spend too much after my big reno recently. I used inovar before in my previous house so i have no qualm abt their quality. Will update you guys later after I dropped by their showroom around lunch time

I trusted my ID and I paid them almost 80% at the start of the job and I didnt have any problem at all. In fact, they sped up the job for me and I was very pleased with their works and high quality of materials. Their attention to detail is very good as they're used to doing a lot of mid-upp class jobs. However, their fees are very reasonable and I was indeed surprised to see my unit featured in their tastefully done website. I guess one has to do enough homeworks b4 engaging their contractors. Paying them more than what they should be getting progressively is ok if enough trust has been built among you. Not all ID/Contractors are basta*ds...well, at least I know mine wasn't. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone at all. Cheers

Supreme Laminated Flooring
smart_user replied to gumbokins's topic in Ceiling, Walls and Flooring Works
hi seashell, mf993 is exactly the colour i got direct from inovar..it's called "maple eko" or something right? i called up the sales guy who serve me at inovar and it's confirmed that mf993 has never been produced in ac5 rating (whether in inovar or any other brands in the past)...ever!! i suggest you go back to supreme and ask for an explanation/compensation. btw, the price you paid is very high...i got it cheaper than you (and they throw in free rubber underlay for me...plus no GST!!). not sure if you got extra perks with your high price tho... -
oh no...not again. Your 5 posts are all nothing but bad-mouthing Inovar and promoting Supreme (though Pergo is mentioned as a more expensive option). We need objective opinion in this forum, not competitors trying to bad-mouth other people. RT users, please judge objectively and deal yourself with whatever supplier you wish to have in your list. In my opinion, the best way to find out about a company is to directly contact them and/or visit them.

Laminate Flooring Help!
smart_user replied to reena8282's topic in RENOVATION IDEAS: Interior Design Themes, Space Planning
Sorry, but you seem to be having a special agenda here when your 1st 5 posts are to go againts Inovar (i suspect you're their competitor who's trying to do damage to good honest supplier)... Ironically, you joined renotalk on 7th November 2009 too which was the day when all your 5 negative posts were posted here, and you're never seen again in RT ever since. On a side note, I also went to Inovar Anniv Sale and got myself a very good deal for my 2nd upcoming flat with disc up to 35% for the colour I selected. What nonsense is this guy talking about?? Bad mouthing is definitely not encouraged in RT forum and members can be banned if found guilty!! RT users, please judge for yourself.
