  3. I am thinking of putting white laminate in my sitting and dining room. has anyone done it currently and is the gap between the laminate very obvious as it is on a white background? TIA
  4. 2 yrs ago, i bought the pieces from Moda Design (The home gallery @ 8 Boon Lay Way #01-20 Tradehub 21 Phone 65150823 www.moda.com.sg). Brandname is Koizol from Germany. Each piece costs about $10 and comes in different designs and colours.
  5. its a partition wall made up of individual plastic pieces we bought. Yes linked together with metal hooks. We didnt want a fixed partition so tada! A movable, reconfigurable and detachable partition. A closer look.
  6. One of the challenges we have for moving, is to reuse our current furnitures... example. 1. Our dining table, the hanging parition and the jewel lights. Since our ceiling height is too high, the dining table may look cartoonishly small in the dining hall. 2. The 2nd LCD TV and ikea TV console in our current 2nd living room. 3. My 4 ikea bookshelves. http://i647.photobucket.com/albums/uu194/e...Bookshelves.jpg
  7. Hi Guys I was quoted the following for concealed wiring 1 X 5A = $60 ( inside false ceiling $50) 1 X 13A = $90 2 X 13A = $110 Tel pt = $110 SCV =$200 1 X 20A =$280 D/B = $1200 - $2000 (depend on amt of way) Install lights fitting = $10/pc is it reasonable? Thank you.
  8. Just received the quotation from my contractor...... Hmm...need to have a "good" talk with him on the price. A little history. This is my 3rd renovation in 5 years. Been using the same contractor for the past 2 reno cos he has given me very good sales and after sales service. In fact, my current EA, he actually complete the whole reno in 1 month considering my EA was in original condition when we bought it. But I have to confess that I was not too particular with rates (expect reasonable but not cheap) for the past reno and this time round, I need to exercise more due diligence in parting with the money. This time round, I just asked him to quote for carpentry and wet works. For the flooring, I approached the flooring specialist (parquet and laminate) directly for better prices. More to come....
  9. thanks thanks. Yes we like this old apartment better after visiting a lot of the new apartments. We were contemplating between casa merah and this but eventually decided on this as psf is much cheaper. However, being an old apt means we need to cough out a lot of cash for renovation.
  10. I received a quote about 20psf
  11. I read in the net somewhere that the rinsing of the dishes before putting in the dishwasher is the wrong way to do. In fact you dont even need to do that as it will definitely use more water than manual washing. Anyone care to share more of their experience?
  12. Dishwasher in the new house? Yes? No? The debate with my wife goes on. I want it! She doesnt My rationale 1. it will free up more time for the maid to clean the house, since we will have a bigger house. 2. we can save water 3. the dishes will be cleaner. Her rationale 1. Doesnt make sense to have a maid and a dishwasher at the same time. 2. Dishwashers use more water. THe battle continues.....
  13. Yeah...Me too have the same question- Glass or stainless steel? Am using the stainless steel now but considering to use the tempered glass for the new house. I think the reflection on the glass will make the kitchen looks bigger
  14. Thanks to all well wishes!! With the escalating property prices lately, I was lucky that the owner didnt jack up his price further.
  15. Hee Hee! After picking up some much valuable information from the forummers here I guess its my turn to contribute to this forum. Location: Nonya District Type: 4 Bedroom apartment Size: 1984 sq ft Status: sorting out the legal paperworks Renovation starts: ?? Renovation ends: start date + 2 months Photos Here! Wish me luck!
  16. erm.......i dont what range what range. AC5- 8mm thick is around 4.00- 4.20. Suggest you clarify with the supplier. Also depends on the area you intend to lay.
  17. I saw some forummers shared the psf pricing of the laminate. Thats why I am interested whether 1. Did the supplier end up billing 10% extra of the area laid? 2. Did anyone verify the area laid? 3. Or what they quoted and you measured is what they billed? Apologies that I asked this simple questions.
  18. this supplier (SUPXXXX) is one of the company that some forummers raved about so i am interested to know whether did anyone of you encoutered before?
  19. Hi, Met up with a laminated flooring supplier and received a quote from him. Inside the quote includes a 10% wastage of material so the area to be laid, is inflated by 10%. Is this a common practise? Please advise. thanks!!
