  1. Simon, I like photography esp in my younger days, now that my kids are older, I may restart my hobby. That pic is not by me, just post to relate DOF. I would need to invest all my reno cost just to get the cam and lens to take that shot
  2. And something like this? You will need a long lens but more impt is have a big aperture. The bigger the aperture, the shallower the depth of field which means the subject will be sharp and the background and foreground all blur up.
  3. Have you selected your ID or Contractor yet?
  4. Congrats, I am sure the move in feeling is good. Nice place, like the hanging light in your MBR.
  5. Already mentioned in my previous post, cost about 1k to remove, hack the frame, add new frame with cement reinforcement to get the correct angle and reinstall back old door and gate
  6. Tilting of main door is not illegal but you must get HDB approval for HDB flats. I am one example who have got the official HDB letter of approval to slant the main door after my contractor apply for approval. However it takes a little longer for the approval like 4 weeks. I agree here that we should do it with cautious and not solely dependent on ID/ Contractor/ FSM verbal info that such reno "No Need approval" or "apply also wont approved type" because the future implication lies with you and not the ID or contractor. Some pictures of my in process slant door reno here:- http://www.renotalk.com/forum/index.php?sh...40&start=40
  7. Thanks to all for your valuable info. I have check as in Option 3, sliding door with alum frame and tracks, the top consist of 2 horizontal rubber wheels running along a inverted U shape alum track and the bottom is a thin wheel running on a track. The opening and closing is indeed smoother than the normal wooden slide door but I am not sure if the frame they used looks OK or not as it seems very "industrial" type. Anyone kind enough to post some pictures here of your wardrobe frame and sliding mechanism will help me very much. Thanks
  8. Welcome to RT, your layout almost identical to mine. Where is your location?
  9. HTNG, dont quite understand what you mean. My contractor is ID Note, Henry I think is the boss and the one who help me liase on daily issue is Michael who should be Henry's staff. I dont think they are lost when I 1st spoke to Michael about this request. He knows what I am talking about and only need the angle and dimension of slant according to the FSM and he apply to HDB without much issue.
  10. HTNG, When I 1st talk to my contractor, he did said that it was done before but need approval and also a longer period of wait for the approval. I dont know if different area or blocks have any restriction on this. For me, I am safe as I have officially received the letter from HDB rgds to this change.
  11. pls refer to my earlier post
  12. Its wood. The original HDB frame I think is metal
  13. Extremely busy with work and shuttle between reno as well, steal some time now to post photos of the slanted main door View from outside View from inside
  14. Heard from Michael that ID Note is shifting from its Woodlands office to Jln Sultan. So Henry and team are now probably busier to renovate his own office as well.
  15. I am surprised how many PMs I received asking about my FSM and the Main Door repositioning. I will try to be as detail as possible here. My FSM is Mr Chang from www.fengshuiyingyang.com, I think he have a standard rate for HDB. Do email him 1st as I think he respond better to emails than calling direct as he may be busy auditing some other homes in the day. We have checked with HDB and that a approval is needed for this. HDB need detail drawing and dimension to indicate the amount of slant needed and they take about 3-4 weeks for approval in my case. As for my door, the contractor physically removed the entire metal frame of my main door, meaning both wooden and metal gate were removed too. They then built a cement side to extend out the original wall to facilitate the slant door. As both wooden door and metal gate were removed, they have to put in a temp wooden pc of door (to lock the place) while the cement and the new frame dries up. Once the frame is secured onto the new cement, the main door will be installed back at the appropriate angle. I have the option to also install the metal gate at the slanted angle but think it will look better if the metal gate remains the original position at least from outside, it is not too obvious that our door is slanted. The entire cost of this main door modification is about 1k. Hope this info is useful for those who need to slant their main door.
  16. You can contact Henry at 90073683 but I am not sure if his hands are full at the moment. Tell him your est reno period and hopefully he can prebook you in.
  17. I believe it is still tracks at the top and bottom. But somehow it is very much smoother in operation vs the traditional slide door
  18. Hi all, based on a standard carpenter quotation, I think there are 3 main types of wardrobes:- 1. The casement door type @ 200pfr 2. The standard sliding door type @ 220pfr 3. The better Alum frame with Glass type (smoother track) for 260pfr Question: 1. Do you think the option 3 at 260pfr is reasonable price? 2. Do you think it is worth to spend more for the better tracks to have smoother opening and closing? Anyone who have done it, pls welcome to give me your quick comments as I need to decide very urgently Thanks
  19. Replied via PM, thanks
  20. Good news for me, HDB finally approved my last application to reposition my main door and gate as in making the door slant at a small angle due to FS requirement. Most of my tiles already been done except the entrance small portion waiting for the approval, so last 2 days, the workers already hack my main door and frame away and the small portion of floor tiles also laid up. The main door consists of a temp frame and once the cement all settled and dried fully, they will install the permanent frame and install back the main door and gate. Next couple of days will be plastering of whole house and follow by electricals, aircon, plumbing for early next week. Looks like everything still well within schedule. Will post some photos this weekend.
  21. Not at all, so far they have been very prompt in delivering what they promise. My tiles are all done and windows changed 2 days back. Hope the rest of the reno like plastering, wiring, plumbing and carpentry will be smooth as well.
  22. I have done that but you need HDB approval. What I did is to hack a new door opening and seal up the old door in order for me to create a shower screen area.
  23. I am in the midst of my reno with ID Note, must say that they are very reliable so far in terms of their committed timeline, when they say they will do, they really do. Pricing wise is pretty good and also flexible in nego to a certain extend. I cant recommend you yet until my completion, hope it will be smooth all the way.
