Anyway, to answer to ur query, the tempered glass door + glass panels with half bottom false wall costs abt $1,350... I had hacked my kitchen wall and extended d kitchen towards the living to lengthen the kitchen lor... Dats y need to enclose it back with the glass door n panels...

Yuhuuuuuuuu...nuthing much to update on the reno progress for now. Juz wanna check out here...where is the best place to get toiletries items like WC, taps, kitchen sink, wash basins etc...What I mean best is hmm...Wide Variety, Gd Quality & Reasonable Prices...Recommendations plssssss... As for toilet bowls, hmm...what should I look out for uh when buying??...All seemed same to me leh except whether its a 1pc or 2pc only lar I know...but I see the prices all...huge difference...so any good ones out there??...Any gd brands??... Those tried & tested by you guys... Also...any idea where to get good curtain 'lobangs'???...Rondy...Think you've mentioned a place to me b4...but now I forgot liao...

So whose unit at Yishun nobody knows ar??...Ok maybe not RTalker lah...The tiling done there so nice ar...I like...esp. the kitchen walls, toilets all...very sui one...dats y I wanna congratulate the owner... But too bad he's not a RTalker...CROCODILE skin toilet tiles...NICE!! Wahhh..so nice ah Yeak got aftersales service...so standard ah!!...hehe... U go psycho ur sis la take Yeak...at least assure them wif Yeak's workmanship...unless ur sis got others in mind oredi lah...then cannot take Yeak bah!!..

PRECISELY lor...HDB architects not so smart afterall esp. with the design & layout of the unit...not so clever if you notice. If only they had placed the study in front, it wouldn't be much a waste for me to hack the study to make way for dining. Now I got to sacrifice I nice common room instead of study... Tiles not so good...toilets tiles oso obiang...

27th Dec??...I got so many invitations liao...its X'mas season bah & my cousin is having her wedding on dat day...dun think can go oso... Oii....where got good the kitchen??..So small & then only got low cabinets. Not enuff for me ar... The windows are good. I won't be changing them mah...only need to install grilles coz I got 2 trojans bah!!...Need grilles...Only the balcony need to install windows & grilles. The rest juz grilles only. Flooring quite bad hor. U deceived by the photos liao... ..Alignment all crooked and uneven...then the grouts some fat some thin...ugly leh...

There goes the laminates in MBR...Only the platform remains... Walk-in wardrobe gone = More spacious MBR For once I'm happy with destructions... Thats all for Day 1...Guess hacking shall continue till tomorrow & debris removal on Saturday...so no more updates till probably next week...

Thanks macbart!!Actually the unit is a D&B one...so the previous owner has lived with whatever has been provided by HDB for the past 6 years or so. In short nothing much has been done to the unit except for the low cabinets in the kitchen & the platform with laminates in the MBR and everything else looked pretty worn out though it looked clean.. Actually we were contemplating to do a major overhaul or maybe just some minor renovations...but after some thoughts, we decided to go for a major overhaul. To cater exactly to our needs and since there is no intention to move out after this, so mite as well do everything at one go now before we move in.

HeLLooooo...Yeah lah...I procastinated long enuff in setting up this blog...But since yesterday start reno liao...think mite as well start it together..else, I will miss to rekindle the 'great & fun moments' of running around during the pre-reno stage. At least with this blog...5 years down the road, I'll be able to scroll down this thread & rekindle the fun & joy instances of renovating my own nest. Besides, I also hope to learn from you guys....SIFUs...so pro in reno liao... Oh you met Yeak today??...Yeah lor he so busy lately. Alamak!! Tiles selected liao but they in the husband's car, the samples I mean...Nuthing so interesting leh...I see all oso like very common liao...so nuthing very fantastic... Kitchen yeah lor..have to...dat's the most headache I have since we signed the OTP...But wat to do...since no COV is needed then and unit is sold at below valuation, we juz go ahead lor with the purchase. Money for COV can be used for reno instead..thats what we thought at least ah...the only consolation for us...coz the unit is really bare lor and really needs alot to be done.. I will post pics soon...

Fast learner??..Ok only lar...trial & error... Total quote??...Hmm...plus, minus still abt $40K lor...But I think quite ok since its major overhaul & involves quite a no.of walls to be hacked down etc. Ok..ok...wait lah...yesterday only 1st day start reno...still long way to go...But cant expect to see so many pics hor...coz I can't afford go there see everyday. After a heartaching moment with Photobucket, I've finally managed to post my floorplan...Well, its similar to some RTalkers unit & I believe most of you find this plan pretty common.. Nevertheless, its quite a challenging task for myself & the husband to re-organise the layout of the unit to suit our needs. Especially the tiny kitchen which made it impossible for us to make do with. Our reno search for ideas, sourcing for best quotes, interesting & practical ideas began way back in early August when we have just excercised our OTP. Met up with interesting people including IDs, contractors & sales people throughout our months of search...and after much consideration, we finally felt confident enuff to go with a contractor rather than an ID as we sumhow already had an idea on what we gonna do. And the trusted man to man our fort is none other than Mr Yeak from Basic Image, a rather popular figure in RT also rite... Btw, here's what we plan to do. Dun expect to see those stylo mylo 3D layouts, plans etc. ok??..Me no expert...I only good with ABCs...so it will be words...words....words & pictures only...as in photographs taken using camera only ar... Living:- - Feature wall to cover household shelter - Feature wall/ Suspended TV console on the wall same side as household shelter - Shoe cabinet - To remove sliding door & level up balcony for a longer living area - To hack walls of bedroom 1 to make way for dining Kitchen: - To hack kitchen wall and extend kitchen towards dining area in floorplan - To construct half bottom false wall & install glass for top to enclose the extended kitchen Dining (Room 1 in Floorplan): - Hack walls to adjoin Living & Dining MBR:- - To remove existing laminate & walk-in-wardrobe - Retain existing platform. Only to replace laminate. - Construct 7ft built-in wardrobe - Construct shelves for computer at rounded area Bedroom 2:- (For parents) - Construct 4.5ft built-in wardrobe Study Room (To convert to bedroom for younger bro):- - Construct 4ft built-in wardrobe - Construct shelves for computer Common & MBR Toilets:- - Fix panel shower screen - Simple wash basin top - Seal up existing door to MBR bathroom. Relocate door to near room entrance. Flooring/Wall Tiles:- - Hack & replace living, dining, kitchen & 2 toilets floor tiles with homo - Hack & replace wall tiles for kitchen & 2 toilets - Overlay laminate for MBR and 2 other rooms Others: - Painting of whole unit - Electrical works to be discussed - False ceilings for foyer right thru to pasaageway to rooms & MBR - L-Box for living & dining - Install windows & aluminium grilles for balcony - Install aluminium grilles for all other windows More to come...
