unfortunately, all kuros are sold out.. harvey norman, courts, audiohouse, best denki... hence, had to settle for display set @ courts megastore. kuro 500A @ $2799. (manufactured dec 08) cuz its a display set, im not takin any chances & purchased the 1+4 years warranty for ard $700. total damage = $3.5k ++. (also manage to get 1 x hdmi cable, hehe) dunno whether its a good buy, bad buy or compulsive buy. all i know is that harvey norman is selling their display set for $3999 w/o any extended warranty...

Think abt this... How often do u see black speakers in a home? All da time! N wif 'definitive' as the brand on the speakers, a common person wld think dat it another cheapo brand. Wif white n black mixed together, it definitely somethin unique n add curiousity to it. This is from an aesthetically view only.

Listen to bro Vic advise n got the oppo bdp80. Also, went to KEC to check on installation of my hts early next mth. Now cny, so super peak. Also listen to another forumer advice n change the rear speakers to white to blend wif the walls n ceiling. Also, the deft tech 800 package I bought came wif 1000 centre speakers! Wohoo! Realized it only now. Stoopid me! Hence, my final setup are: deft tech 800 speakers x 02 rear white & x 02 front black deft tech 1000 centre black speaker velo cht8q sub yamaha rxv465 receiver oppo bdp80 tried my very best to convince wifey to change sub to svs but to no avail... (due to it's giganticous size) also, hopefully can get pioneer Kuro 50" or samsung 8 series 55"... totally broke now. Hopefully can get the tv cheaper once 3d tvs are out. Me only fireman, not rich one ah. Lastly, da above setup may be peanuts to some hardcore audiophiles but to a newbie like me, anything better than my current samsung hts is oredi an improvement. Thx again to all u guys help... (who's knows... Maybe a few yrs I itchy to get projector...)

Hi again my previous post, I state dat I bought the procinema 800, change sub to velodyne CHT8Q & yamaha amp RXV465 (Titanium). Total damage is 2.7K. Yet to be delivered, so tryin my best to persuade my wife to upgrade to svs sub PC12-NSD. She hated it due to it's sheer size. Is it a worthy upgrade? Top up is ard $300. Shld I juz stick to my current setup or get the svs n havin an upset wife? I'm at my wits end. Any advice will be a great help!!! Thx

yea.. the discount is pretty significant, especially if u wanna get the remote too (cost add. $90). also, u need to add $20 for the rebate adapter (applicable to 2-leaf rebated doors).. in other words, main doors that have 2 sided hinges. those with single sided hinges, no need. for me, im pretty happy wif the product, but remember that the f100 doesn't work well with sweaty fingers. the fingerprint detection not really effective in detecting sweaty fingerprints... even if u wipe them dry (speakin from experiences. tried so many times til t i gave up liao) also, the korean-speakin device may be quite irritating, but this can be disabled. (need to open up the device n d/c the cable, which i dunno how)

yup, did got the remote control... hehe. for digital lock becoming common, may or may not be true... but if its true, lets enjoy it while it lasts....

juz installed my f100 laz wk. ard 2 hrs to be installed. the kind gentleman bought 3 types for me to choose from, f100 and f10 by gateman.. and samsung 6020. y i decided to go for digital...?? conventional door lock doesn't lock by itself after u enter a house (new flats have main door that close by itself). Sometimes, u or ur kids may forget to lock n hence, da security issues arises. y i choose gateman...??? its fingerprint, unlike the samsung (card) y not f10...??? aesthetic reasons... no doubt f10 is more secure, but i will have 2 separate stuff sticking out from my main door... da digital device & the main handle. f100 have both combined into 1 sleek device verdict: blown away by itz coolness. totally gives a home dat futuristic feel. (my 2 cents worth)

it's not dat u muz get id. It means u muz he's licensed contractor OR id, n preferably listed under HDB. Go to HDB website to confirm whether they r legitimate or not. Else, it will be very hard to apply loan... But not impossible.

The opp blu Ray player cost $899!!! Wow, days ex but the reviews for it is incredible. Best blu Ray player in cnet reviews. Anyway, so wats missing is a blu Ray player & a tv. Will try to save to get dat oppo player n any recommendtion for tv? I read that to enjoy HDTV n all it's glory, get at least 46". I was thinking of samsung series 8 - 55" led tv? Any comments on dat? Hi vic.. Dats assuring. My hse under Reno, so bought the this sytem early so that the wiring can be concealed. Yet to purchase blu Ray player... Dunno whether to buy dedicated player or ps3 though. Anyway, u guys have been a tremendous help in advising me of which system I shld get... I can forsee that without this forum, I will definitely burnt my hard earned $$$$ on Bose.

Wanna change to SVS sub, but da thing **** HUGE! my wife reject it IMMEDIATELY... anyway, with all honesty, I dunno whether the price i paid for the above setup is reasonable. It also incl setup n monster cables for the front setup. Need ur advise n assurance. And 1 more thing. My living room is only 3.4m x 7m, in which the 3.4m is da distance from sofa to tv. Thx.

ok, guyz... after much reading and reading, from forums to online magazines... i gonna take the plunge n bought myself a deft tech procinema 800... upgrade the sub to velodyne... or maybe try to get svs if the price is a lil' bit more. combined wif yamaha amp... or shld i get denon? this part not so sure.... last time ard, was quoted $2.7K for deft tech wif velodyne sub & yamaha amp... wish me luck...

He recommend Definitive proCinema 800 and upgrade the subwoofer to Velodyne... also recommend yamaha amplifier.. total damage: $2.7K... hence, wld like ur opinion whether is this setup reasonable for the price? he also recommend bookshelf speakers or the big ones too... wharfedale @ ard the same price... less than 3K once u guys give the green lights, i will get definitive, definitely... (anyway, 4got to ask him abt B&W)

thx for the advice, vic & elfe... my mind is set on getting the other BOSE (Buy Other Sound Eqpt)... reading lotsa of stuffs from this forum, mostly from both u guys comments... ranging from sound system to projectors... really impressed wif u guys knowledge. anyway, went to adelphi laz week... the place is like a sim lim for speakers!! i tot adelphi is like courts or mustafa (one store selling many items). boy was i wrong... try my luck n went to this place where they recommend Wharfedale Diamond 10.5 system for $2K. Also recommended onkyo receiver for $0.8K. try to find other brands like B&W, yamaha, onkyo, denon, marantz... buy the shops there are intimidating. scared to step inside due to my lack of knowledge. well, dats my experience so far.. will try to learn more though. anyway, thx for converting me to a non-bose. appreciated it very much.

Hence, the main question i would like to aks. whixh one shld i choose: Brandt or Ariston. Brandt ($1640): design not so nice Ariston ($1640): design nice, but was told brandt is better. hi.. i pretty new to this forum... read a lot from this forum & was 99% sure im saving to buy the BOSE Lifestyle 35 ($6K). Interest free installment though (im not those rich ppl, juz an average income personnel) but my trip to harvey norman changed all that. tried their yamaha home theatre sys & onkyo home theatre system... sounds better than BOSE. and cost 2K+... way lower than BOSE. now that i changed my mind, and with a budget of 3K, i wld like to set up a home theatre system to basically watch soccer, play xbox & blu-ray. speakers, amplifiers, decoders... im alien to some of these stuff... all i need is a compact hts (not those bulky ones). 1) Best place to buy from? 2) Same brand system or mixed them up?... I hope someone cuz help me cuz i dun have frenz or colleagues who are into these stuff... thx a million
