  1. Our present kitchen has those sliding door but this time round want to have something different to have a open concept kitchen...but I will still install those Ikea panel blinds to separate my relax corner and the kitchen so that at time, can close it to make the relax corner more cosy... btw...can share pict of your glass door and how much? maybe glass door also looks good since it is tranparent not like my present arcylic type...after sometime become yellowish...very ugly...
  2. mmm...never thought of that yet...me and wife only think of having a LCD TV at the relaxing corner facing the kitchen so that we can watch while having our meal...haha. But I do have a ceiling fan at my relaxing corner and my kitchen open concept...hope the wind is strong enough to reach the kitchen...
  3. Aiya, I think you super experience liao...just notice that your T-blog so many pages...pai say I still try to act "lao jiao" haha
  4. If you need any help, feel free to post in the blog...I think alot of Da Ge and Da jie willing to give their help and share their experience with us... 5. I think it should be Ok for the toilet... Actually, I should be thankful for this business trip, at least give me alot of time to think and plan for this renovation... else if in SG, maybe I din even have time to start this T-blog...
  6. then u can use mind as reference lol...I think must start to think liao...ours is a contractor not designer so alot of thing we need to have a preliminery idea first... Mid Nov is only 3 weeks from now...
  7. Actually my kitchen also have a beam thus blocking the lighting...that why was thinking to have 2 ceiling lights and 1 dining lights... Having dining table in the kitchen is good...cook and eat in the same place...I like it too... My dining table is a glass top custom made one (bar top height) and place against the wall...now only worry is whether will be too dangerous in the night if accidentally struck against the corners...sure very pain. (I think I will buy those rubber corner bits to protect against hitting and reduce the impact...

  13. Hi Jamie, I notice in your quote there is no cost for the wall tile in the kitchen area... Are you having ceiling screening for the kitchen wall...if so must share with us the effect...maybe I also want to do, actual one ID ever recommend me to do this way saying that it will be very nice and modern but no idea how it will look like...so putting the idea on KIV...
  14. Hi worldangel, Thanks for the comments... Actually there is no partiion between the 2 areas in my son's room...I intend to shift the lighting inwards toward his study area to give him more brightness... His room, I will be reusing my existing living room lighting that have IC control to turn on either one or two tubes to brighten the area up...for me study area must be bright... I also intend to have a wall light near his sleeping area for him to turn on during his sleep time. ( He used to it liao) Actually you are right about that point...I am also considering to go away with one ceiling light in the kitchen...but I need to make sure that the cooking area is bright enough first...
  15. Hi Simon, Opps, I sound like "Mrs" of the family haha... You can scroll back to my eariler posting of my proposed layout.... As for the lighting, in the MBR, actually I just want to have one normal ceiling lights and go away with the 2 downlights but as the below the L-box area is my feature wall with wallpaper so though it will be nice to have those downlight... For the living room, the fan comes with lightings and the rest of the light is along the L-box, will it create shadow too? For my son room the reason for shifting in the light inwards toward his study area is to give him the brightness...for his sleeping area, I intend to give him some wall light (He used to turn on wall light to sleep anyway) btw, there is no partition between his study area and sleeping area...

  18. hi, welcome to Jurong West, I am starting in jurong west for years...at block 9xx next to the stadium... See that you are in a hurry to move in and you sound stress...I have these pointers for you. Hope it will be useful... 1) The defect of the flat must be rectify 1st before your own renovation...house bulit but not occupy will lack what the chinese said "Ren Qi" thus a lot of things will be defective due to dampness and moisture...is the fact of yin and yang... check the wall, ceiling, window gaps for dampness and water mark, these not rectify properly will cause alot of problem later ... 2) On the flooring work, actually you can go ahead to do it first then get your contractors to protect it properly then arrange for HDB to come in to do the cement screening. that should save you some time. 3) this is the peak period for renovation work -Nov and Dec as everyone is rushing to do renovation during the school holidays and before the festive session. (Like myself here) So I doubt you can complete it in 3 weeks time unless but now you already firm up with your ID/ Contractor. 4) Wooden/ Parquet flooring is definately good to have but make sure you getting the good and reputable ones (or those that being used by the trusted forumer and proven good ones) because wood can get strink easily (contraction) This is what I had seen during my earlier working years as commerial contractors, one of my friend installed this flooring for office area and during the day of handling over (when aircon was turned on the previous night) the flooring all got loosen up and he took 2 days to get it rectify so loose **** lots of money for that project. But I think laminate may not have these problem ba... 5) Lastly, in the west 2 good place to do shopping on the reno stuff... Ixx and tradexxx 21...but I did not say buying...because I feel that they are alittle more expensive then other areas. Especially Ixx, the rental is super high...unless you are getting those controlled price items or you really no time or "Loved the item" else compare the price first. Transform the stress to joy...think of how your dream house will look like after all the hard work...
