Update - 1 Nov 09 Yes, I am a happy woman now! Finally selected the tiles for the toilets! Not from Hafary (luckily we were able to find something we like at Soon Bee Huat)... at least Jason will not be disappointed. After much consideration, we decided on the following: 1) Common Toilet To be a black, white & green mosaic concept: a) Black tile: b) White tile: c) Green mosaic contrast with black tile:

Update today is a busy day.. went to Hafary @ Defu, Hafary @ Balestier & Soon Bee Huat @ Toh Guan.. 1) Hafary @ Defu: Showroom is nice but not as impressive as Soon Bee Huat @ Changi. I do agree with several RT members on the selection of tiles that Hafary has.. Somehow, it look nicer!! No one approach us if we need help... so we left and went to Balestier branch! 2) Hafary @ Balestier: We selected some tiles and the staff there is very pro! He is able to help us visualize and provide good advices! Made us rethink of the colors combination!! and of course, we found something that we realli realli like!! 3) Soon Bee Huat @ Toh Guan: Hmmm... is a disappointment as compared to the branch at Changi Road... Can give it a miss! We will be going to Soon Bee Huat @ Changi Road tomorrow to find if we can find similar/same tiles that we have selected from Hafary because when my HTB called Jason if we can use Hafary tiles.. he sound disappointed.. so.... if possible, we will try to avoid Hafary.. Hope we can find!!! Will post the pics.... esp the beautiful Soon Bee Huat @ Changi Road showroom!

i learnt my driving from Comfort driving school at ubi. yah.. i went sin lek.. the selection is pretty limited... soon bee huat is better.. am going Hafary this wkn.. haha.. seems that hafary has better choices.. *scare jason will scold me if i ever choose hafary tiles*
-
yah.. agreed with takomi.. those calculations are frightening me.... but i think.. i spend less than 7k per yr.. due it is a wkn car..
-
that's true.. hving a car in SG is not cheap.. tat's why i bought a wkn car.. i just passed my driving last dec.. and bought the car in feb so that i wun lose touch in my driving skills.. if i were to drive the car to work at Suntec, i think i realli hv to eat bread every meal.. haha..
-
i also hope he can drive.. but he dun hv driving license.. haha... but he promised me that he will learn driving!
-
hehe.. no lah.. he is going with me... hehe...
-
thanks everyone for the advices! I shall plan the route... petrol expensive leh.. haha.. *hmm.. maybe claim it from my HTB*

Hi Mickey M, which hafary's branch did u visit? I am thinking to go to their defu branch.... cos' they have the entire building..
-
congrats to your new home! welcome to RT forum!
-
i think because Soon Bee Huat only opens their showroom recently in the east. I noted that they have another showroom at Toh Guan East area.

Hi dsman, we are planning to start our reno in late nov.. where is ur new home? thanks for the recommendation! but i realised that sin lek doesn't put their prices on the tiles like what Soon Bee Huat has done. this does make us abit uncomfortable... esp when we talked to one of the staff there (known as Ms Lim), she simply told us to choose what we like ... disregard the price factor... for that moment, both of us feel that we are 'carrots'.. hahaha.. perhaps we should make another trip to sin lek and look for may chia instead.
-
hahaha... i hope my hm wun be colorful like rainbows.. haha... we hv yet to confirm the color theme we want.. now.. toying the idea of hving white, grey & green...
-
Hi Mickey M, I like the tiles that you have selected for the toilets! Noted that you got it from Hafary. Can share how much is the tile and if there is any other color than white? cheers!
-
Hi Felixp, We have not confirmed the tiles we want to use though we took some samples back. Yup, Jason told us that Hafary is always out of stock but we are thinking to see what Hafary offer this weekend.
-
Update we went to Sin Lek and Soon Bee Huat on saturday.. impression of Sin Lek.. not very friendly plus the selection is quite limited.. we went to Soon Bee Huat at Changi... the showroom was realli WOW.. very impressive.. we managed to steal ideas.. however, we are thinking to Soon Bee Huat at Toh Guan to see if there are more ideas..

Thanks, Red Devil & Coffee_O! My HTB called Jason and he referred us to Soon Lee Huat at Changi Road as the alternative. Seems that Hafary is not able to deliver the stock that the client wants. So we will take a look at both Sin Lek And Soon Lee Huat this weekend!

haha.. maybe today is a lucky day! need abit of help... between sin lek and hafary, which one is better? hope to hear from some kind souls soon!

well well.. finally... after such a long search for contractors/IDs, we finally chose the one! Getting pretty excited over the renovation of this house because it is our first home! Though we are only getting married next year's oct, we decided to get the house before the price goes up! Luckily, we found this place in Jun 09 and bought it before the property price hikes. Below is the floorplan of our nest (5 room flat... highest floor (14th floor): During our contractors/IDs search, we kinda of shortlisted a few to talk so to minimize the hassle to repeat the story so many times.. Like to thank many of the renotalk forum members who provided good advices to us in our search. Below are the contractors/IDs that we have talked to: 1) The Interior Place - we met up with this young ID.. he is a nice chap.. but the problem is.. he quoted us 53K for our reno. this is far too off from the rest of the IDs/Contractors price. hence, we dropped him. 2) Intradesign - we met up with Irene. Nice lady who tried to save us money. Provided good advice too.. however, the quote is on the high side as compared to the rest. Hence, we dropped her. 3) Ideal House - we met up with Lynn. She was late for more than half an hour for our appt. After talking to her and several emails asking for the quotation, the quote didn't appear. dropped her.. : 4) Tau Design - met up with kelvin for 3-4 times. very nice chap.. he was the 2nd finalist in our search. However, we dropped him as well due my husband to be (HTB) has good chemistry with the chosen one! 5) U&B Reno - Yes, is Jason! We opted for him.. due my HTB's hokkien proficiency matches to his standard. haha.. I shall not let my HTB read this review. Also, we went to view Red_Devil's house and both of us like the way Jason has done for them. Though I had some hesistance in choosing Jason due there were some remarks by one forum member, I decided to opt for Jason due I know my HTB can manage him well. Thanks, Red_Devil for letting us to view your house and your advices! We haven't gotten the keys to the house yet. Will only get it on 11 Nov. Hence, we will meet up with jason again to discuss. Meanwhile, we will be going to select tiles on this saturday! will update soon..

Jason U&b Home Reno

I do agree with what red devil has said. Jason has his plus points. Do look at his current projects. What happened between jason and HM is between them. Also, we did ask Jason to come to my HTB's house to see what can be done for the kitchen tiles and he came within 2 days; agreed to do overlaying of tiles. Hence, i dun think he will ignore small projects. -

met up with Kelvin ytd for a 2nd review of the quotation. he does look quite tired.. i briefly told him that some of the forum members commented that they din receive his quotes and he told me that recently he is very tied up with work.. work till 1-2am... i suggest that for those who want Kelvin to work on their quotes asap, perhaps you may want to make an appt with him. we find that this is a faster way. his quote is very competitive.. it is comparable to a contractor's quotation. we are very surprised... has yet to confirm as we want to think carefully first... hehe... hv fun! -
hi Homemaster, pls share what has happened... we are on the verge of signing the quotation with Jason. after your post, we are now holding it back.
-
hi red_devil, we visited your house on sat.... i think we shd be the first couple bah... hehe.. your house is very nice.. great job done by Jason. my HTB is very inclined to give the job to Jason. Thanks for allowing potential customers like us to visit your house!

we have been waiting for the quotation since 3 weeks ago and yet Lynn has not reverted to us. have sent email reminders but still no reply. think we will drop them. really poor service. to think that we had waited for Lynn for half an hr for our 1st appt. yes... she was late.
